  1. That depends. I don't think we know if the iPhone is sensing the presence of voltage on the Firewire pin and displaying the message. Or if it's sensing the lack of voltage on the USB pin.

I think I also remember reading a forum post somewhere about previously unused pins being used or jumped for new generation apple devices. I will see if I can dig it up.

  2. Great to know that we have multiple people working on a solution dcarrington01.

    IMHO, the best solution will:

-be easily removable so we can switch between iPhone and iPod

-consist of the fewest components (an extension ipod cable which has been repinned for usb power and had the voltage stepped down from 12V to 5V)

-allow for full audio, video, and menu integration with as many pioneer headunits possible

    -no affect bluetooth integration

Hopefully we can get close to realizing all of these. I might give it a go myself.

  3. Today I am receiving my head unit and wiring harness. I would like to do the soldiering of the wire connections tonight so I can do the complete install tomorrow afternoon.

Can someone please tell me the gauge of the wires on the Crutchfield harness and the wire leads from the AVIC so that I can buy the correct shrink insulation this afternoon?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on where to draw power from for the XMnav unit and Ipod units? I will be installing into a 2003 Tiburon GTv6.

    Thanks!!

  4. Tomorrow I will be receiving my D2 unit. I have already picked up my XM+traffic module and IPod modules. My question is, when I'm hooking up the modules to the head unit, do I hook up the GEX-P10XMT with both the XM Data cable and the IP-Bus cable to the head unit and then daisy chain the CD-IB100II off of the IP-BUS IN port on GEX-P10XMT? Or is there a different configuration?

Also, for the GEX-P10XMT, I am not supposed to hook up the Red power wire (non-constant power) according to an insert in the package. I just want to verify this information with others who have installed the GEX-P10XMT.
