  1. So... its been awhile... a long while.. I bought my f700bt in 2008 and thats when I was most active on here.  This site was awesome for helping me out with my install and other upgrades.  Since then I have not had one... honestly... not one problem with my unit.  It is pretty much stock... had only the 2.0 firmware update.  So anyways... since I have been away from the site for awhile... and out of the loop on pioneers newer nav units... I was wondering.. whats the newest great thing out there?  Im hopefully getting a new ford truck soon and if I dont get it with fords nav unit I would want to throw another nav unit in it.  Thanks for any sugestions

  2. Well I have had my f700 for well over a year now... never had a problem ever... I am still on 2.0 Yesterday I noticed my phone wasnt set for bluetooth so after I hung up on a call I turned the bluetooth back on. When it connected to the avic you hear a small pop and the sound is lost. I turned the truck off and on a few times and it happend each time. When I was driving I turned my bluetooth on my phone off and the sound came back? What do think I should do? Will a update fix this... hmm

Thanks in advance for anyone who replies.

  3. Hey guys.... I have been reading past threads here for a few days trying to find some info on the ipod and being able to watch video through it. I found a guy on you tube that has it working flawlessly but he has a mac and uses the program "handbrake" to convert the videos to be able to play on the 700. Does anybody know what would be a similar program to use since I dont have a mac computer? Here is the link for the video... it looks great!!

  4. I wonder if it will be any different from what's here?

I wonder too. I just placed an order.

Tested "unofficial" 3.0 and 3.01 here in Edmonton, Canada and I'm not impressed with the maps update. For some reason all Provincial highways are referred to as KINGS HWY (That's a name they used to have in Ontario in the past). For Example Queen Highway 2 is being called KINGS HWY 2, Yellowhead Highway 16 is called KINGS HWY 16, Anthony Henday Highway 216 is called KINGS HWY 216. etc.... Very, very annoying!

I hope they sorted it out in the "Canadian" update.

Are the township roads and range roads still showing up as unnamed road near edmonton?? My brothers garmin will show every one of them but my 700 wont.

  5. Has anyone had the problem of itunes freezing up when you plug your ipod in the usb to sync it??? I wanted to put more songs on it but everytime i plug it in, it freezes itunes up and it it wont unlock until you pull the usb cable out of the computer? I have read where one guy said to go to my computer and pick Ipod, then go into it and reformat!

Does anyone have any opinions on this!!

    Thanks

  6. Next time just answer the question, ass.

Back to the point. Acording to the link that this ass gave us, Tom Tom offers free map updates for newer units. Pioneer should offer the same for their F-series

I dont see why your calling him a ass....he even gave you a link ffs... anyways... no maps are free unless its a promotion!!!

  7. I think its reprehensible Pioneer is charging for this firmware upgrade! If maps need to be upgraded charge for it but don't bundle it with software required to make your hardware work properly.

Price wasn't the issue for me to purchase this unit in the first place. What sold me was functionality. After purchase, the problems:

    1. Super slow, boot up and switching songs

    2. Unresponsive screen & buttons

    3. I have to have the parking brake on to use navigation?!?

    4. Won't recognize most addresses for destinations.

The bottom line is why pay more for something that doesn't work properly in the first place?

    SHAME ON YOU PIONEER.

I will purposely go out of my way to avoid buying another Pioneer product, let alone an upgrade.

Here we go again.... In order for the new maps to work, you need the new firmware!!! Please read before posting... you guys all look like idiots when you do this!!!

  8. I am more than a little miffed at Pioneer's audacity here. To charge me to upgrade defective firmware! And I can safely assume the "3.0" firmware won't be much better. "2.0" still sucked. I will never buy another Pioneer product again, nor will I encourage my friends to do it.

I will not be giving them 70$ or, even one penny to fix these defects. They lost a potentially great customer here. Kenwood has my business from now on.:evil:

Your paying for the map lisence fee... Firmware is thrown in!!

  9. Well I hate to ask this again... but are we paying for the map update that is included or are we paying for both the map and software??? I was told by jason that it was the maps that we are being charged for!! I dont know anymore... things go back and forth here all the time

You are paying for the Maps and the upgrade to IGO 8.3, but it looks like the price is the same as it used to be for Map updates. In addition there should be a free firmware update in the pipeline, fixing smaller bugs and maybe speed up boot time, but that is pure speculation at this point of time.

As IGO 8.3 is said to be much quicker/ using less rescources, you can expect to buy (hopefully) significant increase in performance. But due to my experience with Pioneer I believe it when I see it.

Same thing I have been thinking all along... I dunno why everyone gets there all grumpy when they say they have to pay!! You have to pay for maps for every nav system!

  10. Well I hate to ask this again... but are we paying for the map update that is included or are we paying for both the map and software??? I was told by jason that it was the maps that we are being charged for!! I dont know anymore... things go back and forth here all the time

  11. in 2d the arrow will not always point up. It will point the direction of travel ex. if you are heading east the arrow will point east or to the left of the screen. The only way to get the arrow to always point up is in 3d.

If north is the top of the screen in 2d mode.....wouldnt the arrow point to the right of the screen if you were going east?

  12. Yes I have been reading it... and if you would have seen what jason said it is the map update that is what you are going to be charged for... You can get the 3.0 update for free... but you wont be getting any new maps!!!

I am aware of this, however many people seem to think that Pioneer would be charging for the firmware update. All I am stating is my point of of view on a paid update and I don't think it should be a charge.

Maps update = a charge, I can deal with it. I understand Pioneer need to pay for licensing fees etc.

Firmware = no charge, excellent as it should be. I don't feel anyone of us should pay.

    Exactly!
