  1. I would assume that all these new features will work with the iPhone 5s.  I have watched a bunch of videos and they say 4, 4s and 5, but not 5s specifically.  Anyone test it with a 5s to see if we loose any functionality?  Can you play videos from the iPhone if it's hooked up via HDMI?

  2. You can change the interface language to French. Not sure if there are French maps available. I am only familiar with the US units. Not sure which question you are trying to ask, change the interface language, or get the unit to work with Maps in europe.

  3. Thanks to everyone here, update from z110 to Z120 went off without a hitch. Version still showed as 1.000 after successful hacked update (1.001), but the unit updated to 2.000 fine with random password.

    Wow, upgraded perfectly, thanks ShortFuse.

To echo nguyen50's question: is it safe to go from firmware 2.0 to 2.003?

Looking at the update there looks to be new RenewalIFLib.dll and EU090APL.VER files.

2.0 to 2.003 upgrade does not require a password.

Just trying to get some clarification if it is safe to upgrade to 2.003 or if we should wait for another update from ShortFUSE if we are running a hacked version. Thanks for the info.

  4. I just finished upgrading my friends Z110 (Now Z120) and everything worked just fine the first time around. I noticed that Pioneer is offering a firmware update to 2.003 on their website. This is a free upgrade. I was wondering if this was "safe" to do with the hacked upgrade. Since it's not my unit, I don't want to brick his radio. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

A big thank you goes out to all of those involved that are far smarter about this sort of thing than I am.

  5. Just wondering if anyone noticed any changes or updates in the maps. Looking at Pioneer's description it's not exactly clear what was changed.

I have noticed some changes in the beep volume when you select something. It seems a bit quieter now. Or at least related to both the beep volume setting as well as the navigation voice volume setting. Post up your changes or updates as you find them.

  6. The illumination wire instructions are incorrect If you install it as instructed it will remain on daytime at all times. You can tie into the rear wiper switch (Brown with white stripe) and hook that up to the illumination wire. That will correct the problem. I have had much success using the following website:

    http://ss-shootout.com/tunes/index.html

The following picture is stolen from there and shows the rear wiper tie in point.

    3431.jpg

Also the dash kit is horrible and will require quite a bit of trimming/hacking in order to make things fit properly and allow the unit to open.

  7. Hmmmm. I connected a wire from the Orange/White wire labeled for the illumination to a gray wire connected to the rear wiper harness and that did nothing. I think I got something wrong here...lol.

You tied into the incorrect wire. You need to tap into the brown wire with the white stripe seen below. NOT the gray wire. This will control the dimmer/illumination wire. This is a brown wire with a white stripe.

Does your car/truck radio control lights dim when you turn your lights on. If it does then you should have an illumination wire as an input to you factory OEM radio/HU.

If you are using a after market harness to connect your Z110BT to your factory wiring then all you have to do is color match and connect.

    I hope this info helps

For whatever reason the illumination wire does not operate as it should on the Trailblazer. This connection is the easiest work around. Let me know how this works out for you.

  8. Well with the other thread getting fairly large I thought I would post a quick and easy way to get the Pioneer AVIC updates, or at least all the information in 1 easy to find place. A big thanks goes out to SWDW for getting the original discs into our hands and seeding the torrent so a bunch of us could grab it. New guys keep seeding and keep the torrent alive!

Searching for the torrents will give you 2 different versions. One version has both the east and west discs together. This version has caused problems for many users and should NOT be downloaded. I would not recommend seeding this version either as it will just cause more confusion and problems for everyone. This version is just the files copied from the discs and not an ISO ready to burn.

The CORRECT and FULLY working version is the East and West ISO formats seen as 2 different torrents. Here are the correct links for the ISO version:

    Torrent Links

    EAST --> http://www.mininova.org/tor/3006030

    WEST --> http://www.mininova.org/tor/3006036

Secondly you can grab either disc from the newsgroups. I have uploaded both version to my news server and will provide the newzbin files to download each below.

    Newsgroup Links

East ISO disc Newzbin (Unzip and load into your favorite news reader)

West ISO disc Newzbin (Unzip and load into your favorite news reader)

If you are unfamiliar with newsgroups/newzbin I suggest you read the following website: http://www.slyck.com/Newsgroups_Guide

You usually have to pay to get news server access, but its worth it as you can DL things at full speed. Several news providers have a trial period or $/MB pricing so you can get just these files for very little cash. I personally use usenetserver and pay $10/month for unlimited downloads. Worth every penny!!!

For completeness, here are a few disc images in high res format. These are available for download from Pioneer's website directly

Downgrade Instructions for bad map data

Fix for an upgrade gone wrong:

If you find yourself with a non working unit or corrupted map data after the upgrade do not despair, there is still hope to "downgrade" your unit. First go to system settings and change the language (doesn't matter if it's to french or Spanish) Let the unit "upgrade" your unit again and make sure it goes well and finishes. then change the language back to English, but hit the eject button before the unit has a chance to start the upgrade. You will see "insert the appropriate disc" message. Take your old working disc (CNDV-80MT) for example and place it in the unit. IT will then "Upgrade" to the older version. You should now have your old version in English.

I hope this information makes things a bit clearer for people and condenses things for anyone looking. Thanks to everyone for helping out and seeding. That's what makes this community so great!!

  9. LOL. I suppose no chance we can get the full color lablels loaded up too. :D I feel like I am asking to much but thanks SWDW, my first torrent and I am off in a few mins to buy dual layer DVD disks.

    I am seeding as well...

  10. Here are the files for the east and west ISO discs in newzbin format. This is for the newsgroup junkies. Much faster download this way than with torrent (provided you have a quality news server to use)

Both are uploaded to alt.binaries.cd.image with 15% par2 recovery files.

Check out the following link for newsgroup/newzbin info if you don't know what you are doing:

    Pioneer CNDV-90MT East ISO.nzb.zip

  11. Although I have not tried it, you should be able to go from 50 to 90 without any difficulties. The map data is on the disc itself and we are not getting any new firmware features so it should be just fine.

For the newsgroup fans I have completed the East disc and the West disc is currently downloading. Attached is the nzb file to help get all the parts you need. (I could not upload the nzb file directly so it is zipped. Just unzip and put into your favorite newsreader) Have fun and remember to burn the disc slowly for best results.

  12. In an effort to keep things going and to help out the community I am in the process of posting the East and West discs to usenet (news servers). It's going to take 5 hours per disc according to my posting software. Included is a par2 set with 15% recovery. I pay for news service so distribution and retention should be fine.

    Posted to alt.binaries.cd.image

I'll post newzbin fines in this thread once it's complete

  13. Updated 2 different units with the ISO files (East coast) and everything seems to be running just fine. Updated without a problem and navigation works just fine. I noticed a few POI pop up as well that were not in the last release. I have been seeding the east disc all day and will seed both all weekend (West is 95% done) I will also post both discs to :

alt.binaries.cd.image with 15% Par2 recovery volumes. The rar version of the iso is only 3 GB.

Thanks SWDW for the hard work.

As for leechers/seeders I always keep my torrents to 1.2 upload ratio. That way I'm giving back a bit more than I'm taking. After that it's up to the "new kids" to keep the torrent alive. I would seed 24/7 but my ISP puts bandwidth caps on your line without warning or notice for "excessive usage" Too bad they never define "excessive". And my house is too far away from the Telco to get FIOS.

For the record I used a Memorex DVD +R DL burned with Alcohol 120% at 4x

  14. Download of the East disc was finished this morning. (I'll keep seeding to help out those in here as well) I burned the disc while I was getting ready for work. I'm going to try the new disc and see how it goes. I'll post an update after I check it out. I am making a rar set to post to the newsgroups when I get home later today. If everything goes well I will upload the east disc to:

    alt.binaries.cd.image with par2 files.

    Edit:

Disc seems to work just fine. No problems with location or map data. Will post to the newsgroups later tonight or first thing tomorrow.

Thanks SWDW for your hard work.
