  1. Just wanted to say thanks to the guys that posted/hosted/shared the files

    and the info!!!

I'm currently running the 3.01 latest update, and it really is like a brand new Unit!!!

Enjoying the F Series once again... boot and response time is awesome!

    Thanks again...

Can you share how you did the 3.01 update. Some people are saying they followed Pioneers instructions, and that now their unit hangs.

  2. I used the one that came from the x910 download.

How I really fixed my unit..I deleted MYFLASHDISK, because i had too many mods on my unit and 3.01 update couldn't copy all of the files completely. Then I replaced myflashdisk with the x910 download and then loaded the 3.01 from Pioneer. Now it works fine so far. Hope this helps.

So interestingly enough, I redid the whole process. Now I get an error at the Pioneer Boot Logo that says:

    InitalizationError: LoadLanguage failed.

I remember getting this back in the day when playing with LeetLauncher, but I don't recall how I fixed it. I think I had to replace some lang file somewhere, but not sure with what. If anyone has any thoughts, please share. I am in the process of redownloading the file from the torrent listed, and will try this one more go before just giving up and reverting back :-(

  3. After walking through all the steps, everything looks to be ok but the system constantly reboots every 5 minutes. I hear the new button sounds, and can check the system info and it shows I am running 3.0 firmware. But the "System Startup" message never goes away, and the whole unit reboots after 5 minutes.

I am thinking it is the WinCE update. When booting into testmode, and checking the WinCE version, it shows that it is 5.0. I thought I read here (somewhere??) that it should be 6.x. I grabbed all the files from page one in this thread, and didn't get any errors at any stage. I am running a F900BT. Any help would be much appriciated!

    Thanks

That happened to me when I used the hacked ezrider. Try using the ezrider that comes with the download.

Not using the hacked EZrider, just the stock one from the download.

To be clear, I followed the instructions here exactly as listed. After everything comes up, the unit reboots after 5 minutes. I've tried updated to 3.1, and the update went fine...but still get a reboot after 5 minutes.

I went ahead and restored my backup, and verified everything is fine with 2.0 software. I then walked through the steps here again to update to 3.0, and I get the same thing.

Not sure why it isn't working for me, when others have no issues (and no, i'm not a dumb noob...i'm a CS major and have mod'ed most of the equipment I own). crilleym, you mentioned this happened to you initially. What exactly did you do to correct it? What EZrider file did you copy to repalce on your unit?

  5. I'm about to do this, and i've searched the forum, but I can't find images of what the parking break lead looks like. I can find info on the mute wire, but not what i'm looking for. So basically, if I take the green parking break lead, and unhook it from the parking break (I got install done at Best Buy, so I assume it is hooked up that way), all I need to do is ground it to somewhere on the metal frame, right?

Will I need to pull out the dash to access this? I drive an SUV, so the parking break is under where the other pedals are. I'm hoping I can just find it looking up there...

  6. I've been running 3.0 for 2 weeks now. I can report actually that I discovered a glitch which will screw up the interfacing with the F900. Initially immediately after I upgraded to 3.0 the audio was working, but I found the next day I was getting 'could not connect' errors. However, it seems I accidently stumbled upon a solution. Somehow if you move music around on the iphone, copy new albums, delete some, it gets the interface going again. After a second time having the issue, I did just that and voila, it was working again, fine for over a week. Now having gone to 3.0 beta 2 in the last 2 days I've found the issue has come back. So last night I had to recopy some music that I hadn't put back on the iphone yet, hopefully when I go out shortly it will be back functioning again. I'll confirm that it is or isn't shortly.

EDIT: confirmed, iphone ipod interface is working normally once again.

When you say move music around, do you mean like add/remove playlists in iTunes and then resync? And once you reconncet to the AVIC, things are good?

  7. Technically, there is one standard for how Bluetooth Handsfree profile is supposed to work, and whatever APIs Apple is opening up in the new upgrade, they should not have any effect on Bluetooth operation here...

Actually Apple is substantially revamping the BT in the iphone OS 3.0 and adding A2DP, and I suspect that may be causing a lot of BT-based issues around its new version.

    That's entirely possible...

While the above is true, my original post was in reference to the iPod cables for music playback...which doesn't use the bluetooth. Apple is revamping how devices are connected to the iPhone (and iPod Touch) via the connector. So Apple opening up APIs for the physical cable connectors could impact music playback on the AVIC.

  8. Well, from the description the problem is with a pre-release version of Apple's software (which isn't particularly standard to begin with), not anything that Pioneer should be fixing...

Sorry if I came across as blaming anyone. My point was to just point out that on the pre-release of the Apple iPhone software (3.0), it is not compatible with the AVIC 900BT. I don't recall this incompatibility existing when Apple did the upgrade to the 2.0 software.

It very well could be that Apple is still working out bugs, and there is nothing for Pioneer to do. However, I also know that Apple is changing how devices that connect with the iPhone function (and they have opened up a bunch of APIs in the SDK to support new behaviors). Because of this, it very well could be if no update comes from Pioneer, iPhone owners could be out of luck come this June when the software is released to the general public.

  9. I am an iPhone Dev, so I currently have access to the latest seed of the iPhone firmware. Previously, when running 2.1 my iPhone would complain that the "accessory" being connected wasn't compatible but things still worked just fine (played music, charged, etc). Now however, I don't get any message on the iPhone (other than it is charging) but the AVIC after about 10 seconds throws up a message saying "Unable to connect to iPod, please reconnect."

I've tried just about everything I could think of (disable bluetooth, enable airplane mode, fresh restart). So it looks like some of the changes Apple made with the 3.0 firmware have caused it to break compatibility with the AVIC and the iPod cables. If anyone here has contacts with Pioneer, I can supply a FEW copies of the firmware (I type in your device ID, and you can upgrade). Note that you can not downgrade back to 2.0 once you upgrade. I am not looking to just give out copies to everyone, but rather people that could actively work towards getting things up and going again.

Or if anyone has any thoughts on things to try, let me know.

  11. Two things:

    1) I know it has been discussed, but if a "script" or something could be written which would autolaunch our desired GPS, and then launch into AVIC, that would be awesome. I am trying to play with the binaries now, and see if I can't rig up something, but without the code I don't know how far i'll get.

    2) Is this still being worked on? If not, any chance the developer would want to open source what he has done so that others might continue where he has left off.
