I havent subscribed to MSNdirect, but i noticed my 3 month trial was cut short when i installed the HD tuner last year. I figured what it was, just havent had a reason to do something about it. I felt the MSN thing misled me a few times; non-existant gas stations, and bad traffic detours (it kept trying to put me on a road that was closed for construction and displayed as such on the nav, also sent me in circles to avoid traffic), weather never seemed to show up for many areas (live in LINY).

What about a 2008 Scion xB?

I have the 2008 xB release series 5.0, and i installed the F900BT when it first came out (i actually picked the unit up from the warehouse before it even hit the stores).

I am guessing the RS 6.0 has the same unit just dropped in, as i see they didnt change the dash to custom fit the F900BT. So i suggest you pop off the trim and check out the radio... do the mod, you will be much happier, especially when you want to nav on the fly. Otherwise you almost feel like your locked out.

i would like to know what they did to make the radio fully integrated into the xB... especially the speed wire, the stock ipod relocation port, the stock aux port, among other things... I have been planning on opening up my dash again to mod and make the unit 'one' with the car.... if you can i would greatly apprciate some picts and info, that is if you are diving into it....it would help limit some of the trial and error i may have to do.... please respond to the thread and/or email jimmygunz@peoplepc.com (title it 'Scion xB with AVIC-F900BT 'or something so i recognize it) i can probably help you out or let you know what i did with my install. I will take some picts and post when i get a moment... i was thinking of getting to it this weekend.

I got the trim pieces on the side from crutchfield

HD radio (now i needa get an antenna splitter if i want the MSNdirect feed)

i have the steering wheel control (it sometimes craps out though)

i ran the USB and RCAs into my glove box

I have an Alpine PLT-5 LAT sub hooked up (HIGHLY reccommend this for the xB (as it had crappy lows)- great sound and fits perfectly in the truck, with plenty of room- it looks like it is part of the car) i dont know if you can get this anymore though. my original plan was to build a custom box and power 2-12's but it would have been heavy and space consuming.

You would need to buy toyota harness, that attaches to the back of the unit... then you can plug right in, without disturbing the factory wires. The harness only costs about $5-$10... Check out crutchfield.com, put in your vehicle and the avic-f, it will give you a list of the things you need; you can then search them out locally or buy online.

I have the 2008 xB Release series, and had no problems with my install and the parts i bought locally. The one thing i couldnt find was a dash kit, i was about to make something custom but bought from crutchfield - fits perfectly.

I had similar problems. When my SD was in, it wouldnt recognize the USB, or if the USB was plugged in at the startup. The way i found it worked was if (after the system has been booted), plug in my USB (give it time to bring up the list), then insert the SD... I know you have probably tried this already, but i am throwing out there on the slim chance it hasnt been done.

last attempt didnt work, i guess it doesnt update if it is already 2.000000000000000000. The system service info says it is 2.0. Is there a common fix for this?, like should i have disabled the bypass? Is there a way to bring it back to the last update i did? or original factory defaults?

Before i tried the Firmware update 2.0 - i was having some issues with the USB and SD being recognized when both plugged in. In the past 2 days it would recognize them but not play anything.

I decided to do the Firmware 2.0 update (i did the 1st firmware update with no problems).. I did the update and the TTS update but couldn't access the bluetooth update, the phone touch button didnt work. Then i noticed just about everything stopped working. On boot up it wont come off the splash screen unless i hit the menu button. I have no volume, there is a dvd that wont eject, the map doesnt come on, cant get to any of the settings menus, etc.

after trying the reset + eject button when it failed to produce any results; it eventually after 2-3x came up with a windows CE message stating that the application failed to launch, and option to restore factory settings. First i sad no.. but after no more progress, i eventually hit yes. I waited the thing out while i figured it was doing something, to only have the same results.

The only mod i have done is the bypass (wired).

I just redownloaded update 2.0 in hopes that there may have been corrupted data, and will now hopefully have a better install.

But if the next attempt doesnt work i am at a loss, and am requesting help from any of you may have come across this. If this is something i can fix by hacking, with your advice/scripts i should be able to get it.
