  1. In the testmode that we are bootup on the SD memory card, in the beginning it would execute the "CopyTool.exe" file. Would anyone know how to modify the testmode files, to do this?

     

    1)copy a "file" from a known directory path to current directory path

    2)execute this "file"

     

    any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks for reading.

  2. I would cut that red wire off from the iso connector to tap into your "+12v switch ignition", you need to include that "fuse resistor" on the red wire to protect your ND500. likewise, cut yellow wire (include fuse), and tap it into your constant 12v source. if you do this, you don't worry about loop back the power back to the iso connector that you had concern about. now cut the black wire, and connect it to ground.

     

    Now you will identify the 4 pairs of speaker wire on your Nissan Xterra radio harness. Cut them. you immediately have 8 pair connections. (4pairs toward the radio, 4 pairs toward the speakers). identify the Pioneer 8 pairs corresponding wires, and splice them to the 8 pairs connection. you are done. any other wires are useless to you.

  3. My point is that the G500 already reroutes the power back to the original stereo through one of the two ISO adapters. So, I'm not sure why I need/want/dont want the power also going directly to the stereo from the initial interface to the car wiring (prior to entering the G500 loop). Seems like i'm bring the same power line to it twice.

     

    its because they are doing a "T" off between the "European factory radio connector" and "factory radio harness". Unless you have an European factory radio that use the ISO connector, then the male and female ISO connector would be useful to you. Also, you are not reroute the power back to the original stereo. Instead, you are sourcing your +12v(yellow, red) and ground from the "T", to feed it to G500. Then, the G500 feed power to F500bt.

     

    For my case, i don't want to "steal" power from the factory harness, but instead, i bring in power directly from the battery with larger cable, in that case, i cut the yellow,red,black wire from the ISO connector and splice it onto my larger cables.

    You said your radio does not have mute, reverse gear signal, antenna, speed signal, then you don't need to

    worry about hooking them up. Your ND500 does not need them to operate properly. the red+12v, yellow+12v, black(ground) you should have identify easily. The difficult part should be to identify which 4 pairs wire go directly to speakers side, which 4 pairs is from factory radio output.

  5. i seem to get the f500bt to lockup every other week. And i must unplug the f500bt battery to de-freeze it. The f500bt got its power thru the ND-G500, and the yellow+12v wire is already connected directly to the car battery. Here is what i think the problem is. When the car cranking duration become longer, (not start up instantly) i think the it confuse the f500bt and cause a lockup. So i just want to brain storm an idea. what if i put an automotive grade capacitor inline with the red+12v wire, would it help? My thinking is that the yellow+12v has already connected to car battery directly, so i suspect the only problem is the red+12v wire. But here is problem, first i don't know what kind of capacitor to use to provide several seconds of uninterrupted power to the red+12v wire. And in addition, would the capacitor keep my engine running for additional few seconds, after i switch off ignition? (such as a turbo timer). If you have any insight, would appreciate your input.

    THATS A REALY NICE INSTALL....I'LL POST SOME PICS ON MY LATER. ABSENCE9...WHAT YOU DOING ABOUT A RADIO.

    unfortunately, there is no radio, but we don't listen to radio anyway. we only care about our MP3 collection. so we are okay without the FM station. but this is definately the weakness on f500bt solo setup.

    i don't have USB drive connected or microphone. all wires is connected thru the Pioneer harness. at one point i had the USB cable connected to the unit. But after i read the manual, it only recommended to use upto 2GB. from my experience when i use 8GB USB thumb drive, it would never sees the device after you power down the device. so i just skip the USB thumb drive altogether (i only use the SD card) regards to the mounting adaptor in the picture, its for another GPS, which i no longer use anymore.

  7. i have got a cheap ebay camera and if i flip it upside down during installation, the image would come out okay (no need for left-right mirror). I am using this on the f500bt. i suppose it would be the same for all f-series.

  8. I took out the factory radio from the double-din opening from a Toyota Camry. I made some modification from the backside so i can velcro it onto a bracket. The purpose is to gain access to the side SD card, and to reset the unit if necessary. you can see the f500bt is protrude out from the bezel, so i can just grab it for removal. In the back of the f500bt is the ND-G500 amplifier, and fit nicely in the back. hope this is help.

  9. i have a similar issue with the mp4 movie that i converted from a computer. On the computer it would play and sound fine. but when it comes to the F700bt, there is sound, but no video. I think its video format compatibility issue. I have much better luck working with DVIX or avi format, so i just change everything to AVI format which works for me, and did not bother to find a solution on mp4. anyway, best luck to you.

  10. I have been using this D_ChineseSupportAllButImput.cab successfully. But there are times when the f500bt does require a soft boot up and i would loose the D_Chinese set up. It would be nice if someone knows how to build an executable file onto the SDcard, and then it would automatically 1)copy the D_ChineseSupportAllButImput.cab file restore from a backup location, and then 2)execute this file auto-magically. I hate this files because it will delete itself after execution which is totally inconvenient to restore it after each use. It seems the concept is do-able, except that i am not good enough do hack the software. thanks for reading.

  11. The f500bt isn't really a head-end. I guess it's kinda in limbo between a head-end and a nav. system with a bunch of features. Anyway, once I stopped thinking of it as a head-end device and (most importantly) added the amp, it all came together. Have no fear, once you get it dialed it kicks ass.

     

    The f500bt isn't a head-unit, but has many feature thats comparable to a head-unit. It can play DIVX video, and plays MP3, WMA music, has bluetooth, and have option for a backup camera. I purchased both f500bt+ND_G500(6th Ave)+backup camera(ebay) for $270 total. And if you are careful to install into the double-din opening, it will look just like a headunit. I custom made some bracket, and use velcro to hold it in place. It looks descent and clean. In addition, you can remove it just like a faceplate when you park in a bad neighborhood.

     

    The sound quality is however just middle grade. This setup is lowcost solution that i put in my wife's car. For myself, i have the f700BT setup. The sound for the f700bt is high quality, which i mate it with an Momo amp/Infinity Kappa speaker nicely. Other than the low cost factor for the f500bt, i would actually recommend f700bt to anyone.

  12. Is there any way, using a relay or something, to make this wire trigger a +12v signal, like say, for a cell phone mute or external amp?

     

    i think that can be done with a relay. but it discourage me to do so in my setup because when i tie the 12v to my amp to trigger input, i had too much noise interference, perhaps of different ground, or ground loop isolation problem ??? anyway, i just gave up. because i figure that the ND-G500 amp would not have this type of problem 'cause its design by Pioneer to match with the f500bt and its cheap.

  13. I just finished the installation of the F500BT and ND-G500 combo, and here is my observations:

    1) the F500BT remote control wire (blue/white) is normally give out .2v, but the ND-G500 remote wire (blue/white) give out 7.3v. When your connect them during operation, it drive down the voltage to 0.2v. so therefore, this (Blue/white) is active_low during operation. low voltage tells the ND-G500 to turn-on. This is contrary to a typical headunit-amplifier setup. The headunits give out 12v to tell the amplifier to turn-on. (active-high). I think i know why Pioneer wants to do it this way, and its because the F500Bt is not running on a 12v setup. Its 5V thru the cigarette lighter adaptor which has a transformer within. so therefore, its not possible for it to drive 12v. so instead, they drive low. In short, you stuck with the ND-G500 setup as the only choice, which is decent but not so powerful amplifier.

     

    2) my setup does not include the factory radio. so that extra wires from the ND-G500 that is suppose to connect to factory radio is only optional.

  14. there are 3 plugs in your picture. I refer to them as left, middle, right plug. They are all Pioneer specify harness, chances are you will have to cut the wires off from the plug. In my case, i cut the red, yellow and black wire from the "right" plug, and connect to the red, and black to my factory radio harness. the yellow wire goes to the battery directly. Then you cut the 4 set of speakers pairs from the "middle plug". (total 8 wires). And splice it to your factory radio harness, that goes to each of your speakers. the left plug is for those who wants to keep existing factory radio to work in conjunction which the ND-G500 and F500BT combo. If thats the case, cut those 8 wires from the "left" plug and splice them to the factory radio line-output 8 wires. I left out the "left" plug untouch in my setup as I am using F500BT as the only source of music.

  15. i just checked my camera, at 12v, it consume a mere 0.05amp during operation. also, the "little fuse" that you mentioned is not a fuse. its just a plastic molding to joint the power and camera wires. also i have a suggestion for you. just use a 9V battery to hook up the camera for a test run. hook up the RCA yellow wire to your TV and see if it works. mine is stable at 9V. the rectangle household 9v battery is capable for this 50ma application. if this give you no signal, i would open up the camera housing by 4 screws, and hook up the positive and negative directly on the solder board, because i think at this stage perhaps your cabling is shorted.

  16. i have the same camera that purchased on ebay for $23. i have not physically installed it on my car yet, but i did try to hook it up on my bench with 12v regulated power supply with my f-series and its working fine in reverse-wire engaged mode (give 12volt to that reverse wire on the f-series), or menu selected reverse mode. Images are fine, and the 7 infrared LED does its job as well. Pls check your polarity first. But since you have smoke coming from that in-line fuse, fuse is probably broken now, so you might need to cut that off and attached another fuse to try it again.

  17. i have 2 concern that needs clarification.

     

    1)Originally i thought the F500bt blue/white wire is 12v output to external amp. but after some thought, it looks like its input wire, awaiting the external amp to call the F500bt to wake up. anyone know?

     

    2) I just placed an order for the ND-G500 amplifier today. But i have the following concern, the OwnersManual specify the hook up to both the F500bt GPS, as well to a already-exist factory radio. But i want to skip the factory radio. I want direct control from my F500bt GPS only. Has anyone own the unit that can give me assurance? thanks.

  18. I have hook up my AVIC-f500bt with my factory JBL amp on a Toyo Camry. I have switch the menu setting on the unit to output pre-out, instead of built-in. However, there is no sound that come out. I am certain its the blue/white AMP CONTROL wire that is not giving correct voltage. It has only 0.18v during operation. I have tested it if i purposely give it 12v to the Camry AMP control wire, then sound would come out fine. Is there any special setting on the AVIC-f500bt that control this AMP blue/white wire? I am thinking that perhaps one of the file has been corrupted. Or if you have any suggestion for debug, i deeply appreciate it. thanks for reading.
