  1. What TV OUT app are you using on the phone?

I'm not using any type of tv out app. My handset is not jailbroken at all. All I do is:

    1. Start playing a video from my ipod

    2. Open safari and log onto iphone.tvcatchup.com

    3. select a channel and start watching it

I use a Mifi personal WiFi hotspot in my car to give me the stongest data connection. I find that 3G signals are not strong enough for smooth playback.

  2. I've used this method to watch TV on my F900BT. I start playing a video as normal but I then enter Safari and log onto iphonetvcatcup.com and start watching one of the channels. Very hit and miss though as sometimes it plays correctly and other times it plays the video for about 3 seconds then the screen goes blank and you only get sound.

The only time I see that is with video apps that are limited by AT&T to terminate the video signal when there is heavy traffic on AT&T's network. There may be a way AT&T can do the same through the Safari browser as well when there is heavy traffic.

I'm in the UK so I don't think that would apply here. As I said I can get it work maybe 7 out of 10 attempts.

  3. Right i spoke with someone in customer relations today about the price and he agreed that depending on retailer its going for £150-£175. nearly 3 times more than the deal the Americans got!

Expressed politely how pissed off i am and he told me to write in and complain and i may get lucky and get it free or at a reduced price. Told him i shouldn't have to do that in the first place as it should of been priced correctly.

really not happy. Another case of Brits getting screwed financially

Well one letter of complaint and a few phones calls to customer relations and I have received my free firmware and map update SD cards. now just got to install them.

  5. Just spoke with my local pioneer rep and he told me they still haven't been given a firm release date for the firmware/map updates here in the UK, nor anything relating to price. Why are we so far behind everyone else on this!!. beginning to annoy me

  6. Just posted this email to Pioneer, lets see what sort of response I recieve, if any!

    Dear Sir/Madam

I have been a user of your Sat Nav products from day one and have upgraded each time you have brought out a new system, and that's been quiet a few! and never strayed to the darkside, with the likes of Kenwood or Alpine. I am now an owner of the F900, which besides it's slow boot up time and other things isn't a bad unit. What disappoints me is the news that with the imminent release of the new 3.0 firmware/map update their is not going to be a discounted price, as in the USA where for a limited time it has been offered at $65.00.

Do Pioneer not care about it's European faithful customers who defend it's products to friends and family when being told that the device should of been flawless from the word go and that they shouldn't need to bring out updates at a cost to put right what shouldn't need doing in the first place.

Take a look at forums such as index.php which i imagine you already do to see how miffed people are about the double standards it seems Pioneer have when offering it's products in various parts of the world.

Please Pioneer do the right thing and offer us loyal customers a better deal when it comes to this imminent update.

I look forward to hearing what you have to say on the matter

    Regards

    Richard

UK users got a free iPod Touch under a simalar promotion. Prefered that.

  8. well that sucks a fat one... i don't want to have to pay for something they say is going to fix problems with the existing software/firmware!

Yes but they could also say, sorry this unit is outdated and we will not be supporting it in any way anymore. At least it's an option. We are discussing (in another thread) for everyone to chip in and share the software. More people chip in, cheaper it will be.

Thats a good idea and i would certainly be up for that. This way you may even get some input into what improvements could be made

  9. Hi

I've tried putting Mpeg 4 video's on both my SD card and my Archos but the video plays back really slowly and totally out of sync on the F900BT. is there a correct file format and frame rate i should be using as the manual just says mpeg4 video. Is this the norm for the unit. My ipod plays video just fine.
