  1. i love(d) XM but the thought of cencorship rubs me the wrong way

    Sure it is censorship

Opie and Anthony were NOT censored. They were censured by XM Radio. There's a big difference, and most people seem to be missing the point here.

If the segment did not air, or was "bleeped", that would have been Censorship.

However, the segment did air, and was not edited in any way.

XM Radio chose to censure O&A for allowing the segment to progress as it did.

They violated XM's "rules"... not the FCC or anyone elses.

Personally, I think XM made a mistake by suspending them, and I support any effort to point that out.

XM can do whatever they want to their own employees. If you, or O&A have a problem with XM's rules... so be it.

But please don't be so quick to jump on the censorship bandwagon... because this has nothing to do with censorship.

  2. Let's be real... there's nothing you can do to prevent a determined thief from ripping off your radio if they want to.

You think some "security cable" is going to deter them from taking it out of your car if they want it?

If a thief rips the radio out of your dash and sees a "Security cable"... what do you think will happen? They'll tuck tail and run?

No. If they don't have the means to cut the cable (which wouldn't be difficult) then they'll likely just steal the whole car and worry about it later.

  3. If you still wanna hear songs that have been played 10,000,000 times, stick with XM. Made the mistake of pressing my source button one too few times the other day and landed on XM instead of Sirius. The first station I caught was still playing that Daniel Powder (sp?) song. Tried another and it was still playing The Fray. I assume that even free radio has given up on playing those "hits."

Bashing XM... yet you still pay a monthly fee for it? I'm confused. ;)

  4. It'll work, there are versions of that though that will also charge the ipod. The one you showed doesn't charge the ipod.

    It'll charge the iPod.

The pictures don't show it, but there is also a 12v power lead from the dock connector on that cable which you can hard wire into the vehicle for iPod power/charging.

It's basically a homemade version of the Xtrememac Roadshow Cable.

  5. Tom,

I found this forum a few weeks ago.

Within 3 hours of me coming here, I found all of the information I needed to successfully burn a new Navigation DVD for my D2 including a new boot image, XM logos and custom backgrounds. It works great.

I am NOT very computer literate... so if I could do it, then certainly someone like you who IS computer literate can do it.

Just search, and read. Everything you could need is here, for free, without having anyone hold your hand and provide you with click-by-click directions.

Coming here and making demands and unreasonable requests for assistance is not the way to solve your problem.

Stop being lazy and do some work on your own.

If that still doesn't work for you, then paypal me $125.00 and I'll type out detailed instructions for you.

  6. Hi All

I know many of you are professional car audio installers, so I thought I might be able to pick your brains about adding iPod connectivity to a 2006 Mini Cooper.

The car is a lease, so I don't want to start tearing up the dashboard or replacing the factory head unit. I live in an area where the FM band is pretty saturated, so an FM transmitter won't really suit my needs.

Does anyone know if the factory head unit in a '06 Mini Cooper has any type of AUX input on the back of the radio that I could use to add some type of iPod adapter to?

  7. Quick question, this has been annoying me:

When you are in map mode, and change XM stations, the song title is displayed at the bottom. Does anyone know how to make the song title get displayed at the bottom at the beginning of every song (ie, when you don't change stations)?

I've asked this question elsewhere, and was told that it was not possible to do. Hopefully you'll get a different answer, because I'd like to see a feature like this as well.
