  1. Ok it was working fine last night.

When we fired it up this morning, it did it again. All the directories had only the first song showing up in them. If you pull the SD card and put it back in the computer all the directories are fine.

Anyone have any similiar experience? I'm out of ideas.

It sounds like you are leaving the card in the AVIC. When the AVIC boots up, it first looks at the SD card, and if one is installed, it will try to boot up from the SD card. This process maybe confusing the AVIC. I think the solution is to unplug the SD card before the unit boots up, then after the unit boots up, plug the SD card in.

  2. Yes, that cable WILL work. I have that package and have hooked up that cable to my F900BT. The package includes a stepdown transformer that you can plug into your wall outlet and supply power via the USB plug (not very useful if you intend to install the cable in your car). You might get a better price if you can find a package that has the cable only.

edit - As I remember, the length of the wire for the USB plug is a lot shorter than the length of wire for the USB plug on the Pioneer cable (approximately half the length ??)

  3. TJ,

I read on this forum somewhere that somebody else had a similar problem and traced it to a fluctuating voltage output. Not sure if he had a bad battery or bad alternater. Apparently the AVIC is sensative enough to see a low voltage and that triggers it to reboot. Autozone will do a loaded battery test for free. Something to think about.

  4. Electrically, the Apple cable and the Pioneer cable are functionally the same. The Pioneer cable is manufactured in China, and there have been some quality issues with the Pioneer cable. I'm not aware of a solution to getting the album art work to display, when the iPod was synced with MediaMonkey. I just started using MediaMonkey, so I hope a fix is in the works. Did you use the audio leveling feature? And did it remain after you re-synced your iPod with iTunes?

  5. Get into service menu and you can do a downgrade by flashing the old system program. The instructions were posted in the past, but I can't find them. I did find them on Google for you:

I don't know about the N1, but my AVIC-9DVD only required reflashing the System Program. In fact, I couldn't flash the Application Program. When the old System Program boots, it automatically downgrades the Application Program.

    Shawn,

Thanks for the link! My first couple of search attempts were too specific, zero hits. My third attempt was a little more generic, got a ka-zillion hits. Weeded out the the hits that were obviously not what I wanted, and found a posting similar to the one you provided. I liked your link better, multiple fonts, colored text, easier to read and follow. I reflashed my unit yesterday. I'm back using my 60 series disks. I'm a happy camper. Thanks again!

  6. Finally got my CNDV-70 disks. Very disappointed. A lot of the roads in southern Maryland are mislabeled. Due to new construction, some key arteries were expanded and new intersections were built. All this information was accurately captured on the 60 series disks. Now it's all gone. It's as if somebody grabbed a ten year out of date database and loaded it on the disks. Several parks were clearly marked on the 60 series disks, now, they don't even exist on the 70 series disks. I'm trying to go back to the 60 series disks, but I get an error message that I have the wrong disk. Can anybody help me reset my AVIC so I can use my 60 series disks? I've tried to load the old disks about a dozen times, every time I get the "wrong disk" error message. I tried rebooting my system. All that did was reset to the factory defaults.

  7. Finally got my disks. Can't understand why it took the post office three weeks to deliver the disks (from NY to MD). I can't get any of the points of interest to display. I've tried changing the settings several times, no joy. After about three attempts, the software just kicks me out of the POI menu. I've removed the disk and reinserted it a couple of times, no change. In fact, the last time I did this, I got an error message that this was the wrong disk. Also, the maps in my area have more errors and less detail than the 60 series disks. I'll leave the disk in for a couple of more weeks, as I expand my driving range. If there is no significant improvement, I'm going back to the 60 series disks.

  8. It is my understanding that the CD-IB100 II does not recognize any of the iPod's settings. In other words, if you have set a volume bias or equilization preference in iTunes, this information gets lost using the CD-IB100 II interface. I was thinking about editing a few songs by raising or lowering the RMS sound level by a few dB and see if that makes a difference. I haven't gotten around to this. Would be interested in knowing if there is an easy fix for this.

  9. I have an N1 HU with a N3 brain. Initially, I had all kinds of problems reading the 60M disks. After about a dozen attempts or so, I was finally able to completely read the 60M disk. I ended up making a copy of the disk and use it. I haven't had any problems since I started using the backup disk. Just something to think about.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the N1, N2, and N3 all have the same CPU and 64MB of RAM. I wouldn't think that there would be any performance/processing differences between the units.

  10. I finally swapped the N3 brain for my N1 brain. Upon power up, the navigation display was normal, but when I switched to the audio display, the display showed that my radio was off. I turned the radio on, and found that all my preset frequencies were lost. I reset a few of the frequencies, then tried to get to the menu that would allow me to switch to other external devices. No such menu. After several unsuccessful attempts, I pushed the source button on the front panel. That switched from my radio to my CD changer. The CD changer display was normal. I pushed the source button again, and my iPod begain to play. The display was a blank background display. I tried to bring up a different audio display, no joy. I cycled the joystick button, all that did was restart the current song. I tried cycling the power several times, no change. I tried removing and reinserting the 40M disk several times, still no change. At this point, I decided to install the 60M disk. When I first inserted the 60M disk, I got an error message, "wrong disk". I removed and reinserted the disk, and got a disk reading error. I did this several more times, before I got the message that it was reading the disk and not to touch anything. The bar graph showed up at the bottom of the screen, showing me the progress of updating the software. When it was finished reading the disk, the system restarted. Upon restart, I had the new iPod display and my iPod was playing. I now had the new graphical user interface for my iPod. I was able to switch to the radio display and CD changer display. Those displays were similar to the 40M displays, except for a darker blue background. Unfortunately, when I switched the display from audio mode to navigation mode, the screen display was a blank gray screen with a disk reading error message on it. At this point, I recycled the power several times and reinserted the 60M disk several times, still no change. I finally got out a paper clip and pushed the reset button, still no change. So, if anyone has any suggestions, let me know. My plan is to obtain an N3 HU, then I'll have a complete N3 upgrade.

  11. Does anyone know if the subject configuration will work? I've got an N1 with the iPod adapter (not happy with the graphical user interface). My plan is to do a complete N3 upgrade. I've just received an N3 brain, still trying to locate an N3 HU. Until I get an N3 HU, I thought I'd go ahead and hookup the N3 brain. I don't have the CNDV-60M disks (yet).
