Thanks for the suggestions and the fast responses.
I will try these tomorrow and report back on my results.

I installed an AVIC-Z1 in my 2007 Mustang. It has a subwoofer (Shaker 500) and in one of the Mustang forums there are instructions to install a 5 Volt Regulator between the AVIC unit (blue amp wire) and the subwoofer to eliminate the pop.
So I installed the voltage regulator but every time I turn on my unit I get a loud pop through my speakers.
Anyone had this type of problem or have any ideas on resolving this?

Problem solved.
OK I moved the ground location, no change. So then I reversed what I understood to be the "In" vs. the "Out" connections on the Voltage Regulator and we have success.
I checked the subs and they are fully operational, no pop.
I would have assumed that hooking up the voltage regulator backwards would have prevented the subs from turning on, but based on my experience it seems that it would still pass a signal to turn on the amps, but just not regulate the voltage.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I hope this helps anyone else experiencing this problem.
