  1. Problem solved.

     

    OK I moved the ground location, no change. So then I reversed what I understood to be the "In" vs. the "Out" connections on the Voltage Regulator and we have success.

     

    I checked the subs and they are fully operational, no pop.

     

    I would have assumed that hooking up the voltage regulator backwards would have prevented the subs from turning on, but based on my experience it seems that it would still pass a signal to turn on the amps, but just not regulate the voltage.

     

    Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I hope this helps anyone else experiencing this problem.

  2. I installed an AVIC-Z1 in my 2007 Mustang. It has a subwoofer (Shaker 500) and in one of the Mustang forums there are instructions to install a 5 Volt Regulator between the AVIC unit (blue amp wire) and the subwoofer to eliminate the pop.

     

    So I installed the voltage regulator but every time I turn on my unit I get a loud pop through my speakers.

     

    Anyone had this type of problem or have any ideas on resolving this?
