I'm having the same problem and it just started yesterday. I have a new drive in transit and I hope that's the problem. Pull the drive out, and replace the cover. If AM & FM work, "they" says it's the drive. I'll know for sure in a day or two. Don't understand the issue with drives. Most hard drives last "almost" forever.

:Chances are you'll have more problems with a 2009 Mazda6 than with the trim plate. I have a five year old 2004 Mazda6. I purchased new in July 2004 and had to wait two years for an aftermarket dash kit. Three years ago, I went with a AVIC-D1 which I just upgraded to a AVIC-Z2 (modified to Z-3). Integrated radio and AC/heating wiring had to be lengthened and rerouted to accomadate the AVIC Z-3. Big pain in the rear. I'd touch base with a couple of custom audio shops and see if it's possible. Also, check out the Mazda6 forums and ask the questions and see if aftermarket radios for the new Madz6 are possible.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think so.

What is the software version that ships with the AVIC-D3? Nothing on disk other than AVIC-D3, Version 1. Will the AVIC-D3 software work on the AVIC-D1? Thanks!

I received my updated V1.2 from Pioneer as promised. I recently updated to more up-to-date software off of eBay. Plenty online and it's decently priced. Do an eBay search.

I followed the instructions. It would work for about a mile and then the video cuts out and gives the warning screen. I messed with it and gave up. I wouldn't watch a DVD while driving anyway.

Hmmm, I reg'd it back in december.
:roll:Get Pioneer's number off their web site and follow-up. Verify that they have you registered and ask where your Version 1.2 software upgrade is.

You MUST register your Pioneer AVIC-D1 through the Pioneer web site on line. Once you do that, wait a couple of days and then follow-up with a call to Pioneer. When I registered mine back in Oct-Nov (?) the Version 1.2 disc had just been released and there was a back log. Hopefully, it shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to get the new disc.

I just received my updated software disc set from Pioneer. I have the AVIC-D1. They sent me the GREEN two disc set "CNDV-50MT Version 1.2. I believe this disc set is for the AVIC-N2. The invoice description states "DVD NAVI Set (Version 1.2) AVIC-N2". Will this set work with the AVIC-D1? I assume I would lose my XM icons that are unique to the AVIC-D1. I recently purchased a new DVD ROM for the AVIC-D1 Version 1.2 off eBay and received it today. I plan to call Pioneer tomorrow and tell them to send me the correct disc set. Any comments?

Jason, Super install of the AVIC-D1 in the Mustang. Ford Motor Company couldn't have done a better job. Perfect fit. Again, great job!

I've had my AVIC-D1 for about six weeks. I had the same problem with the "XM updating, please wait" message. Like Jason stated, there's a new Version 1.2 software available for the AVIC-D1. To get the software, you must register your AVIC-D1 through the Pioneer web site. Pioneer states they won't support their radios purchased off the internet from an "unauthorized" Pioneer dealer. I purchased mine off the internet, not sure if it was an "authorized" dealer or not. I registered my radio through the Pioneer site. It's been over five weeks and I'm still waiting for the software update. I spoke to Pioneer tech support, I was assured the software would be sent out shortly. I've seen some of the new AVIC-D1 Version 1.2 software for sell on eBay. Has anyone received the new version 1.2 from Pioneer yet? By the way, if you have the XM/NAV traffic receiver connected to your AVIC-D1, disconnect the data cable. This will disable the "XM updating" message.
