  1. If you have a fairly recent version of Windows on a PC at home and a DVD burner, just go buy a DVD-RW and create a DVD with whatever you want to watch.

I basically do this for TV shows that are recorded in my Win7 Media Center; it records them, then I load up Windows DVD Maker and select the files and say "Burn." Lather, rinse, repeat when you're done watching what you burned.

That's it, and I'm watching TV in my car. I know that this also works for DivX formatted files, as I have had to obtain a few episodes from torrent sites that my Media Center didn't record for one reason or another.

  2. Hi. I haven't been to this site in a LOOOOOONG time - since back around the time that 3.0 was hacked and made available. I provided help and wiki pages (now lost I guess due a DB crash? bummer.) for a few hacks/mods: removing the clock, moving the route summary frame to a better location, quieting the super loud sound effects, etc.

I just returned to this site and finally upgraded my AVIC F90BT to 3.0 via posts from Retell and MyITGuy, and now I have a few questions:

    1. Is there any reason to figure out how to get 3.0100100 or whatever? Or is the 3.0 that I have just fine?

    2. Do I need to upgrade my maps or did MyITGuy provide them in his files?

    3. Is 4.0 really going to happen? I can't believe I've been gone for so long...

    4. Now that the wiki is down, where can I find the new 3.0 versions of my favorite modifications? Specifically, HOW TO SHUT UP THE VOICE WHEN YOU HAVE A ROUTE. That guy drives me crazy.

    Thanx in advance.

  3. I have the F90BT and I'm about to get the Palm Pre - I know that there are a few people in these forums that already have this phone, so I'm asking you guys the following questions:

    1. Will the Pre charge just by plugging it into the USB cable on the F90BT?

    2. Given that the Pre makes your Windows PC think that it's an iPod, will the F90BT think the same and be able to control it to play music? (I understand that one would still have to plug the headphone jack into the A/V audio input on the F90BT)

    3. Related to #2 - if you plug the Pre into just the USB port, does the F90BT think that it's a USB drive and will it be able to play music like you would from a thumb drive?

    Thanx in advance!

  4. Save your money. New version hasn't done anything for me except slower boot times and VR is worse than ever. It's a pile. I have had this thing for almost a year and ready to ditch it for something that works. Kenwood is looking better all the time!

...You're the first person I've heard say that... Everybody else seems to say something along the lines of "Well, everything's way faster but there aren't any real fixes/changes in it."

  5. When you are playing an album off the connected iPod in let's say shuffle albums mode, once you turn off the unit and turn it back on, it will continue playing the song where you left it. Fine, but it changes from shuffle albums to shuffle songs. This is more annoying than anything to have to remember to change modes before the next track starts playing. I've looked for files that may contain default values that can be altered with no such luck. Does anyone suspect the iPod.dll files could contain the answers I seek?

Dude this is jacked up everywhere (in v2 at least)... I don't have an iPod, but playing from USB and Disc do this: if you are listening to a folder and you have the functions set to shuffle the folder, as soon as you manually select another song (even in that same FOLDER!) it changes it to shuffle the entire device. BUT, if you were to use next/previous to change the track, it stays on shuffle the folder only.

Pioneer completely screwed the pooch on the software on this device. There's no consistency and very little of it makes sense on a usability level.

  6. Who said it was missing what? I did not read anything but praise over the "hacked" version that was not so much hacked and more of a exact copy. The version of 3.0 everyone has been using fixes so much and speeds everything up so much its insane. That on top of of fact 3.0 maps are still really old even if they are not as old as 2.0 so its better to use the "hacked" ezrider and get maps that are only a few months old.

...but has anybody found any differences between the earlier *unpaid for* version and the version that was distributed via conventional means? All I was saying is that there were things that 3.0 was expected to have that people with the *unpaid for* version did not get -- which a while ago meant to me that there was a possibility that the paid for version was going to be slightly different when it was released.

Here's a direct quote from this board in another thread before the official one was being shipped: "The difference is that the $70 that pioneer is charging is suppouse to have fixed the issues that the units have."

I'm not arguing that the "hacked" version was an improvement, I'm just reiterating my question: are there *any* differences or not?

  7. Well, it's awesome that it seems to be working...

I never downloaded the hacked version that was available earlier - people said that it didn't contain all of the fixes that Pioneer said would be in it, and people were pissed off at Pioneer for that. ...But it wasn't even Pioneer's version that they were installing, you know?

Once the official one was in the hands of people on this board, did anybody find differences between the earlier hacked version and the official one?

  8. When the car is not moving, the map rotates 180 degrees really fast and then back a few times then it settles down when I start moving again... why is this? Will the 3.0 update fix this? Thanks

It's just how GPS works... I'm going to assume that you don't have the speed sense wire connected, either. If you are sitting still and your signal is about 90%, then it gets better to 95% (which is more accurate obviously) BUT the newer more accurate position is behind where it thought you were, it will flip you around thinking that you are traveling the other direction.

  9. We know because it's a direct copy of the new firmware Pioneer is putting on the X series radios, and because 3.01 (downloaded directly from Pioneer's site) loads cleanly right on top of it.

I get it now. Thanx for the clarification.

But what we *don't* know, then, is if all of X series units were already factory loaded with crappy firmware also - and if the fixes will just be released soon after they are rolled out... It's possible! Pioneer obviously screwed the pooch on a bunch of other things!

  10. Thanx for the quick response!

From what I understand. the 3.0 that is bouncing around is the same one that you get for your $70 bucks from pioneer.

Understood. But then you say this:

The difference is that the $70 that pioneer is charging is suppouse to have fixed the issues that the units have.

So again I'm back in the same boat... Does the "bouncing" one have the supposed fixes in it or not? I understand that everybody who installed the "bouncing" one report faster button response, but what about everything else?

Aren't there release notes somewhere that somebody can look at to see if the paid version contains the same fixes as the "bouncing" version? I find it hard to believe that - of those who paid for the update - none of them have compared to what others are seeing also.

I really didn't think that this would be that hard: you take the release notes, and then see if the two different versions operate exactly the same as each other in regards to what was supposed to be in the update... It's not like this unit is different for every different car's installation...

  11. I hate to fill this thread with more noob questions

...well I don't mind asking more:

I have looked in just about every thread I can find here for something that I thought would be very simple to find: does the 3.0 update that is outlined here have ANY differences than the one that costs us loyal users our $$? Are they identical?

  12. I cannot locate a file named "navigatemap_800_480.ui " in the Data.zip file of my F700BT, OS 2.006. Where is it located?

I got this from the article I posted in the wiki:

"...open \ui_pioneer\800_480\ui\navigatemap_800_480.ui file that is inside the APL2\iGo\DATA.zip file"

...It's been a while since I got into mine, but the above should be correct.

  13. I was wondering about this recently as well, as I'm about to put my subs into my car. The best that I can figure is that you can edit and utilize the two custom EQ settings to try to accomplish something close to this. Then, you'd just have to tap the "EQ" button a few times to get what you want.

For me, my subs will have to be completely and easily removable, so I'll be using a trailer connector wiring harness to let me just unplug the thing and take out the box. Then, I would just enable Custom1 or Custom2 and have somewhat normal sounding audio without the subs...

  14. how far has anyone got to scripting something to fix the 2d north up issue? i'm browsing through igo 8.3 ui's and found some interesting scripts regarding 2d head up, i just want to know if anyone has looked into it before i start trying to incorporate them in our ui's, anyone?

I don't have the time right now to find it, but I read on here that somebody had effectively been able to use a 3D mode, but with the tilt set all the way so that it was a top-down view - then they set a registry entry to center the arrow on the screen and set all of this stuff to default... Give search a try - I'm sure it's on here.
