When i tested mine i hade the same problem...

Make sure:

Yellow + Red (+12V)

Black (-12V)

Also when i didnt give the unit enough power the fan pulsated ever so slightly.. listen to it carefully is it turning on and off? When i gave it more juice it worked... also when it is plugged in and the fan comes on do the LEDs Blink? If so u need more power... if you give it too much power the fuse will pop so u dont have to worry about smoking ur unit!

This is how i got mine to work when i bench tested it.

Garrett you were right the power supply couldn't supply enough amps at 12v so I turned it up and it worked! I ran it at 20v DC and it ran like a charm!

Just a note to anyone else trying this I strung together my own little wires and stuck them in to the power harness I got my wires from a telephone cable... Cuz I'm welfare lol

It goes up to 35volts DC it's got plenty of juice enough to smoke it... Should I be usin AC?

OK, so i was trying to bench test my z1...

Yellow and red Positive

Black Negitive

at 12v DC

Everytime i try to test it, the blue backlighting behind the buttons flashes blue every 10 seconds....the fan pulses almost like i connect power and take it away repetedly...but nothing shows on the screen.... What do i do?

Alright, so i bought the deck....that was the easy part...now i have to try an install that monster into a din and a half. Any tips/tricks of the trade? Is there any kits? I have access to CAD machines to make custom parts but if some one knows what i need please help me out lol. Also what connections go where? I remember seeing a wire diagram for other cars where can i get one for my car?

Ok so I am buying an avic z1 off this guy, to make sure I don't get screwed I am going to use a 12V power supply... The one with the little clamps for positive and negitive, I am wondering which wire I hook up to positive and which one to negetive on the back of the z1? Also if I hook up the z1 to the satlitte tuner and bluetooth can I test if these work at the same time?

Well a couple of my friends got together and decided that this summer we are going to drive down to Florida. We are from the Toronto area and could probably carpool some people.... We should try to figure out a date and general area so people can start making traveling plans! Somewhere around Disney or even Daytona would be good!

In the F-series you can create custom icons like a gps logo ipod logo, is this possible with the z-series?

If so can anyone post some examples and a walkthrough on how to install?

Also what about the voice for turn by turn directions, could i change the voice to like a celebrity or maybe Kitt?
