Yeah i read that, but not too big of an issue, from what i read the older ipods do a little better and mine is a 5gen ipod vid one so no big issue. plus i ordered a factory referbished unit so it was less then $1000. and from my exp with referbished electronics, they are sometimes better then brand new ones b/c they have to be compleatly checked for issues befor they leave the factory and it still has a 2yr warranty.

Well, is the 9960 going to be out within the next 2 weeks? I need my navi for a trip i'm taking in a few weeks and I want at least a week or so before i leave to get used to it. If it is going to be out then, i can wait, if not i will be ordering the 9140 later today.

Well, after a love/hate relationship with my f90bt it died over last weekend. SOMEHOW all the main files in it got renamed to symbles or erased. I tried reformatting and reinstalling from the 3.0 install thread info and still nothing. I think the flash mem is going bad in it, So now I'm going for the Kenwood 9140. After looking at all the things that the avic x's and z's have and dont have and the kenwood, and each units issues it seems the kenwood has all the features that i wanted on my pioneer (RDS, Station naming, better EQ and sound staging, Garmin (yeah i know stripped down version of it but still)). ANYWAY just wanted to say TY to the avic411 community for all the help i have recived from reading things here AND in the hacks/mods. Maybe is pioneer comes out with a new unit that has more of the things i wish the ones now have and not just stuff that will only work with the iphone (new x920's pandora thing) I might get a pioneer again.

well, if you use one of those PAC coverter boxes to make it work with the radio, you need to reprogram it, but the only issue is, if you repreogam it to do pre-sets, you will lose track changing on cd's, ipod, and sd card files (that command it tied in with the seek change command)

From what i have tried, all the mods that use the trip computer have this issue, for me my trip computer works 2/3 of the time, same way in 3.0 and in every other mods i have tried. I thinks its more of an issue with the trip computer script then the IDT mod.

How? I can not get the speed limit to display.

speed limit will only display if the maps you are using has the speed limit info in it for whatever road you are on, the speed limit on mine only shows up of some roads, (like mian roads and highways) but alot of roads dont have the info in the file for them.

Couple of questions/suggestions:

 

1) How do I quickly access "last destinations" from the map screen?

 

2) Any way to use one of the unused buttons, e.g. speed Limit to access the TMC event screen? Had that in a mod I used in 2.0 and loved it.

 

3) how to change the Speed limit button to European format?

 

4) Over here in Europe there are a lot of countries where you have the headlights on during the day, any chance you link the day/night to the backlight, so it dims not dependend on the headlights, but on the sceme used?

hmm thats weird, my day/night scheme changed is not linked to my headlights being on, it changes depending on what time it is on my unit.

Alright guys...Don't kill me on this quesetion.

 

I'm familiar with accessing the internal Windows system, but...where do you drop the files? How do you install this thing?

well, even with the new values not many showed up on mine either, but more then before, MAKE SURE that the file you changed the values in was correctly saved/ziped up in the data.zip. the first time i changed it in mine i saved it but forget to re-zip the data.zip with the new file in it (was working on the data.zip without fully nzipping it) and i had no street lables, BUT once i chacked and realized my mistake it started show them, BUT only the streets right next to where i was, and then only a few of them.

i replaced the part of the clip_planes file that deals with the roadsigns in the IDT mod, if you just add it to the file without replacing the original code that you need changed then it prolly wont work b/c the file is telling it 2 diff commands. Just replace that part that deals with the roadsigns

Put the attached file in side your common folder and save as clip_planes.ui

Here is what I did. Right click your file, Save As clip_planes.txt.

Opened the COMMON file inside IDT's data.zip (which I am currently using)

Dropped your clip_planes.txt in and renamed it clip_planes.ui

 

Whad did I do wrong?

the only problem is the clip_planes file in IDT mods has more code in it for other stuff that the one posted up on here does not have, you should just mod the clip_planes file in IDT mod to change it to what you need (i just copy and pasted the code i wanted to change from one to the other.

ok, i must be blind BUT where do i find the mutiroute thing. I have found the mutiroute button on screen but it just pulls up a list of routes not the cool map showing all the diff routes at the same time.

 

instead of just clicking the multiroute button you have to press it longer

cool thx, just down loaded (since i don't need a keyboard to do that on my computer) and will load them into my unit l8ter today

yes it does controll it, BUT if you use the same button to controll the preset as you do to change tracks on the cd/ipod, you cannot use both. you can either set it to change presets OR you can use it to sek radio station and change tracks. this does not appy to those who have separate buttons available to program the preset up/down and cd/ipod up/down on

This update looks GREAT! I have not had the chance to test it out on the road, but from just playing around wit it for a few mins sitting outside i love it. deff like how you put the trip comput stuff on screen with a touch of the screen to show/hide it. Can't wait to see what you add next to it!!!! (not sure exactly what you could, but i'm sure you will find something cool!!)

I have been looking around for some new scheme that will work with igo 8.3 /3.0. I know that there are alot out there but most have to be slightly modified to work on the avics (pointing them to look for the right files in the right places). Both my computers are not worked well enough for me to try modding the files myself (posting from my palm pre now), but i have seen a few in the gurjon mod that would look good, but they need to be modded a bit to work on the avic. I'm sure I'm not the only person on here that would very appreciative to anyone posting up some new scheme for us to use!! thanks in advance to anyone who wants to do this!

great mod, but i have one question, where can I find some map coloc skinds (other then the crappy pionner ones that came with the update). Will the old one work that i have from the chm mod from 2.0? or do i need to get one that will work with igo 8.3?

Have you tried to re-calibrate the screen (access it by holding down the "menu" button), also try resetting your unit if that does not work, then recalibrate again. if that does not work then you are prolly screwed and will either hve to get a new radio or send that one off for repair

I updated this morning as well, but when I went to update MSN Diret, my screen kept telling me waiting to connect? After about 10 minutes nothing happened, so I just shut it off. Everything else updated, I think. It says 3.0020, I think or something along those lines, but it does say version 3.0??? Anyone else have the iggy on getting MSN direct linked up? Does anyone even use it, I know its a pay service. But is it worth it?

try hitting the reset button on your unit, that will fix that issue (at least it did for me in the past)

ummm, how is it their falt that they had an earthquake where there servers are located. I mean really guys, there are some things you just have to not blame on them as being their fook up.

Well, I see the way you are doing the 3.0 update as a HACKED version myself, you took the firmware of the X series and put it into your F series..... hmmm sounds like a hack to me. We don't fully know what really has been fixed on the F series firmware untill the update comes out. like others have stated, the X series might have hardware parts (updated or just diff chipsets) then th F series that might not allow the f series take full advantage of the X series firmware, BUt the f series 3.0 update might have the fixes in it that work better with our hardware.

As for the LONG list of problems you listed, well I have not had ALOT of those issues, and others arn't as bad as other units i have used in the part. Like the issue of the navi not stopping after reaching destination, I have only had that happen ONCE, every other time it works like it should, I have never had the issue of it directing me "home" right from the start UNLESS i have already activated it before i shut the car off (like i stopped for food), but IMHO thats what it supposed to do. Bluetooth used to give me the most issues, that was untill i for my Palm Pre, now it works GREAT!!!! I only had the issue of the 50 sec hang one time since i got my new phone. Ever call sound about the same in volume and my audio going out to them sound great (except when the microphone fell back into the dash a little bit messing up the line-of-sight to my mouth and that made it sound hollow and caused the other people to hear alot of background noise). YES the start up time is REALLY SLOW and the lag on the button/screen hits are bad, but the latter of the 2 has been fixed in 3.0 and that was my biggest issue with it now.

i use a regular stereo 3.5mm male to male cable to attach my palm Pre to my av2 connection to listen to pandora with NO ISSUES what so ever, you only need the special AV cable if you are going to use vid, if not, a standard audio cable will work fine.

 

From what i have read in other threads here, THEY ARE GOING TO RELIEASE A FREE FIRMWARE UPDATE TO FIX THE ISSUES, but it wont look like the 3.0 one, it will look the same as we have now, just with bug fixes, if thats what all you want, then yes from what i have read that WILL BE FREE, its the 3.0 update w/ the maps that you will pay for w/ firmware updates that allow iGo 8.3 to work right in our units

 

I doubt a free Firmware update will enhance the performance the same way as the Map/Firmware update they are charging us for.

One central point is the update to IGO8.3 which is meant to be much sleeker and the main reason for the increased performance.

 

So from a free update I expect only minor bug fixes. Not fair to us Beta Testers, but that's how they will play it. It is up to us to decide if we will buy Pioneer Products again.

Thats true that it wont be the same as the 3.0 update BUT like has been said many time before, in order to use the iGo 8.3 that is the major part of the update you MUST have the updated maps to go with it b/c the older maps that are currently a part of the unit will not work. The maps are what the are charging for, It sucks, i know, BUT thats life. Pioneer does not get the license for free to give those maps out from the company that made those maps. This is a map-update, nothing more, and I have never seen a navi unit map update that you were NOT supposed to pay for, but the side issue is that you need iGo 8.3 to use these maps and the firmware HAD to be updated to use iGo 8.3. Pioneers has made the comment that they ARE putting out a FREE firmare update to the vurrent iGo that came with the unit to fix the issue we are having with it. Is it going to be as nice as the 3.0 update? who knows.... but if you just want the issue you are having fixed with the current set up (not something that REQUIRES the new maps) that will do it for you. I do not have any issue out of my unit that i cn't live with (my only issue is the slight delay/unresponsiveness ofthe touch screen but its not bad compaired to other touch screens that i have used, not as nearly good as my Palm Pre, but not the worst thing i ever used).
