I just bought an AVIC-8600NEX and want to backup my SD card right after I install it.

I downloaded the backup files. I will see if I can get this to work once I get my AVIC installed.

I know this is a very old thread, but I still felt compelled to reply. I have an LG V20. It was not ringing on calls. I got a system update on the phone and it started ringing. A few days later I got another system update on my phone, and it stopped ringing again. Damn this is annoying. Most of the time I will just hit my speaker phone button to hear the ring on the phone.

I know its a long shot, but i have always wondered if its possible to have a split screen mode like what is found in the 04+ Yukon Denali factory/Delphi/Eclipse navigation systems. Here is a pic of it:

 

Basically, on the right bottom of the screen, it lists your current street. Above that it lists the distance of the next turn, the direction of the turn, and the name of the street. Then above that, it lists the next 2 turns. And when you are close to the turn, the right side of the screen changes, to show you the lane assist picture thing.

 

For example, if the exit has 2 exits on it, it will have an overlay picture of the exit and will draw a line on which lane to take when the exit splits into 2 different directions

That would be a quite useful split screen. I hope someone figures that out.

Is the VR working on the Nav screen or is this still a problem? I rarely use it because too often it made mistakes and I don't want to call the wrong person, but I am just wondering.

 

I'm sorry that this might be off topic a little, but wanted to clarify the VR issue and my use of it under Chrome NAV.

 

There has been a lot of discussion on the VR. I use VR a lot on my system for calling people, not for iPod and song selection. For the most part it works. It worked better with the original Pioneer programming. When I addd Diaftia's mod, the VR started to have some problems.

 

With the original system and all modifications after, VR would always ask me to repeat a name. However, either it would learn what I wanted or I would pronounce the name better and it would reconize what I was saying. About 40% or less of the time I will have to cancel dialing due to a wrong name; "Ray" and "Jay" would be difficult at times. When I loaded Diaftia's mod, I had a few issues after pressing the center of the volume button. There were times where the system just ignored the fact that I wanted to use VR (other times the station would change). Most of the time, it was just a delay issue. I would have to wait about 10 seconds before the system would "wake up" and respond. Once Chrome was added, it "seems" to have gotten a little worst. There is a significate pause in response from the system, and about 50% of the time the system ignors me. VR worked about the same as before. But I am persistant and continue to push the button. I agree with an earlier post that this is probably a memory/resource issue. However, I am still attempting to find a common occurance.

 

I have not tried to dial any POI yet. I don't trust the numbers provided. In fact, I haven't done much with POIs yet.

Thanks for the response. I had read through the whole thread and some had reported that VR did not work at all, that is why I asked. Your info is good to know. As I stated I rarely use it because I would say something like Call Paul and it would want to call Mom. I have no problem talking to my mom but not when I am trying to call Paul.

I have not tried you mod yet, still using Diaftia's and loving it. Your mod looks great so I may have to give it a try. I was hoping Diaftia's 3.0 would be released but still waiting.

I don't get on the forum very often but do make a point to check in occasionally.

I just installed this the other day and it is Sooooooooo much better than the stock interface.

 

I noticed in the instructions I copied over a new Voice file. However I'm still hearing the same ole Samantha TTS. Is the voice file for something else or do I need to somehow activate the new voice that I copied?

The included Samantha voice file is the same one as stock. I forget why it was included because it has been quite a while since I put this mod on my AVIC. Read the thread from the beginning and you might discover why.

Abb is right but I don't think there is disrespectiveness if your changes to Diaftia's mod is posted.

I agree with this statement 100%.

Others have posted their mods to previous mods in several of the different mod threads and it has been fine. Also one persons change may benefit the original modder. I think I remember Diaftia encouraging people to make any changes they want and post them so that he can see what was done and get ideas.

Abb1 you are right about the need for more poeple to try their own mods and I would if I thought I had the time. I have done a few minor tweaks but not much. I changed the color of my clock on the Off Screen to a solid medium blue (I had it red and green for Christmas time), I changed the background for the Cruise Dial and tried adding a startup sound with the help of NSEW and did not get it working. Also the route Zoom In and Out buttons on Route Plan screen in Diaftia's mod came from ideas I gave Diaftia while PMing back and forth about changes I wanted and why. I had put both of these on my mod of his mod. Diaftia made better buttons because I had not figured that out yet and ended up including it in his mod.

Also the Navi button on the Route Plan screen idea came from the Stan/Andr2000 mod.

Anyway that is enough on the subject. I just wanted to point out how we can all help each other. Best to all.

Lol, IMPOSSIBLE!

Way to many files PLUS way to much coding! Diaftias original Data.zip is 15.2mb. Mine that I have done with new images and new coding is closing in at 21.5mb. Plus it would be total disrespectful to Diaftia who has a 3.0 update in the works

I don't think it would be disrespectful. I have corresponded with Diaftia and he is a very reasonable person as far as I can tell. Also the 3.0 ver is supposed to have a lot of changes, which many of use are waiting for including myself. I just like the chromed theme and would love to implement it but don't have the time to figure it all out. Also I don't care about the map changer or any other code changes, just the chromed images for everything that is currently in this mod.

Oh well I was just hoping you might share. No disrespect to Diaftia or anyone else on this forum. In fact to show my respect I don't post questions asking when the 3.0 version will be done. I just patiently wait.

I was bored so I decided to change Diaftias mod over to my 'Chrome Theme'. I HAD to add the 'mapchanger' and 'AV Show/Hide' features which work flawlessly with Diaftias mod (took a lot of work though )

Put the cursor on the map screen on the icon for the speedcam. Then go into the quick menu, then to route then to info. On that screen you will see edit cam. Select that and hit delete.

 

This is exactly how to delete nonexistent cameras. There were several red light cameras in my area that have been removed and I deleted them from the map. There were also cameras on some freeways (don't ask my why) but I deleted several of those.

 

If you have a problem putting the cursor on the camera zoom in as close as you can to make it easier to select. Goog luck.

 

Sometimes its people adding in known speed traps where cops hide. The easier thing to do is go to in and configure the alerts to not notify you on those. Its the icon with the badge (or car) and radar. I think its the second one.

Most of the freeway cams I deleted were not in "hiding spots" they were out on the open freeway, no bridge, overpass, trees, bushes or anything like that around. Usually here in So. Cal. we rarely even see CHP because there are so few of them around. I think some people are just idiots that got pulled over so they added a camera. I only found one so far on the freeway where a cop could hide and sure enough there was a CHP there.

I did not know anyone was having problems running testmode from SD card but I grabbed this in case it ever happens to me. Thanks.

Hi Alex, I noticed a fuel calculator in IDT's mod. Is there any chance of adding something like this in your mod?

 

Yes that will be in there. Working with 34by151 on a bunch of stuff since he had some things that he had been doing with my mods. The fuel calc and autokarta stuff is all going to be in there. He has also been working really hard to make it so that we will no longer need to have 3 different versions. All of the MSN/TMC and EU/US stuff will be settings that are configurable now.

I just read through the Aussie thread. I thought your updates were near perfect but now I see that so more more can be added. I can hardly wait for the next version. Thanks for all the great work.

When I installed the official Pioneer update it showed 3.0020 for my EU device, I'm now running the free update from the EU page which takes it to 3.00202.

 

I have never seen official versions below 3.002 here in Europe.

 

I think this might be one of the problems people are having with hacked updates: there are 3.001 and some people say they even have 3.003 which can definately not be a Pioneer update as it was around before the official one. In some "hacked" or "free" update packages people seem to mix pioneer data with CE updates which do not really belong to our devices, just becouse it has a higher release no. it must not be the right CE for us. That was for me the reason to buy the official update, I wanted to have a clean basis to restore if anything goes wrong.

 

Just my observations from reading a lot in this forum, I'm just a user, tell me if I'm wrong

I just check my AVIC-F7010BT and the version is 3.020100 official US Pioneer update.

yes its the 3.01 update. you'll see a 3.02 update around here but thats referring to the EU version.

Actually 3.02 is the US version. I know because I have the official Pioneer version installed. I think form reading these threads that 3.01 is the EU version.

I just tried the latest mod and I have to say it is great.

The text on the main screen is easier to read. The split screen is cool too. When I checked it out in the emulator I was not sure I would like the zoom in and out buttons on the plan screen since the plus and minus signs where toward the bottom unlike the ones I showed you that were centered. Once I looked at it on the AVIC I thought they were fine.

I changed the date/time on the off screen to 100 font and blue (matches my button illumination). I also changed the Cruise Dial background back to Aurora.

I tried to get N-S-E-W's startup sound to work but it does not work on my unit. I have not taken a test drive yet, just a simulation, but all looks good.

I did not get this to work. NSEW I PMed you what I tired.

I have an F7010BT, which is the same as an F700BT except 3 yr. warranty.

If anyone with else get this working on a unit other than the F500 I would like to know.

I would be willing to pay for priority mail flat rate shipping box which should be $10.35 for 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" box or $13.95 for 12" x 12" x 5-1/2" box, and maybe a very small amount for you. But since I have no idea whether this unit can be revived I won't pay much of anything. PM me if you want to discuss this.

I have an F7010BT and already had to get my first one replaced under warranty because the BlueTooth died.

Here is a starting point for you. This is what my brother, an installer usually sets them for then you can start adjusting from there. As already stated, each car environment is different and each person's taste are different so get it to your liking. It will probably take several tweaks before you get it where you feel it is just right.

Yes. I bought it when it was $60 US. Response was much better but not stellar. With the new mods like Diaftia's mod it makes the 3.0 firmware the bomb although even more speed would still be better.

Most people that have the iPod like the interface because they can control some iPod features with it.

Yes you can connect many devices through video 1 or video 2 with the right cables. I have connected my cell phone to video 1 and played mp3s using it. That sounded great but there is no control. I just set my cell phone for shuffle.

I have been considering hooking up one of those video playing hard drive devices so that I could load it up with movies and music but have not done so yet because finances are tight.

I don't use an IPod and like a bigger clock so I may want to check this out. Thanks for sharing your work.

Nope, you just need the poi files. Do an address search in San francisco or NYC and see if you see them. I know NSEW had a bunch more buildings than I do on mine. I am just not sure what else to add other than the additional POI files. To get more POI files check the map threads.

The amount of POIs may depend on whether you are running NavTeq or TeleAtlas POI files. Just a thought.
