  1. By any chance when u pluged u r seagate with just one cable did it make this beeping noise and the light rapidly flashed?
  2. Thanks for the explanations. I am thinking of going with seagate free agent go hd. Their power usage seems really low max 2.0 watts which rounds to around 400-440 miliamps. I am gonna go for a 250 since I dont wanna risk any problems then their already are. Also I am gonna look for the usb y cables as they seem to be called and see how it goes. thanks
  3. Well I tried very hard to get my lacie 500 gig to work with my f900, but to no avail. I tried the fat32formatter and thanks by the way, but that didnt work either. So I just had a question to the guys that power their drives in the car. Can put a full description of what you have because most likely not all drives will work with the F series. Also a question to boris, does u r hardrive come with some sort of split usb cable where u can plug into a car invertor for more power or do u do something else. I would be greatfull for this info cause I am trying to decide what kind of drive to buy and
  4. I have an unlocked n95 with fido and it connects flawlessly even when I put the bluetooth setting to hidden where it dosnt announce it self. Also my service provider is fido. Oh and my unit is a f900 which i doubt makes much difference.
  5. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 72#p160972 On the post above our friend boris is running a 320 gig drive on his avic f, I tried to run a 500 gig formatted fat32 but alas the HU didnt seem to recognise.
  6. I am just wondering what software do u use to format u r drive to fat32. I used fat32format which is command line based. I used chkdsk and it showed the cluster to be 32 kb which is the max anyways. I formatted a 500 gig lacie 3.5 hd. I use a 175 W motomaster elimanator invertor in my car to run the hd. Unfortunatly it didnt work with just a few mp3s on the drive. Also how do u give u r drive extra juice. thanks
  7. i was about to jump on the ipod bandwagon when I found out that the signal going into my f900 will be analogue instead of digital with an optional cable so I said f*& it.
  8. Hi i have a question to the boris, I was just wondering which model of the bufflo drive u use. And also does unit accept more then 320 gigs. thanks
  9. Hi I was looking around the web for a way to get around this 16 gig limitation on usbs and I found this website. http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/h/0044.asp Now from what i have read from this site, the f900 should be able to read drives greater then 16 gigs. Also to all the people who are trying usb powered portable drives, are you just using the power supplied by the HU to power u r hard drives or some sort of a split with an inverter for extra power? I would be greatful for some extra info cause I want to carry my music library around with me on a portable drive either usb powe
