  1. Ok, so in 3D mode, almost all my POI's are quasi-transparent... but some, like gas stations, are completely solid. Any idea why this is? Kinda frustrating, and I dont see an option to fix it.
  2. Yeah, apparently I kinda forgot the rest of the world existed. Its just the US maps. Theres a 'canada' map in there but I dunno if its just the border of canada or what.
  3. You apparently need the 2008.4 maps and the 2008.10 POI... go back 1 page in this thread theres a link to the downloads. The 2008.4 maps and POI were also posted to the usenet last night in alt.binaries.boneless if thats a faster transfer for you than megaupload.
  4. Using the instructiopns in this post exactly, I made my car. It looks great. BUT - my car is grey... and because of the alpha channel, my car is opaque! I can see through it to the road below... How do I add the alpha channel to allow for the transparency, but make my car solid and not see through? Does the car have to not be grey? How do I make just the background clear?
  5. Some guy I may know may have found the 2008.4 maps and spent the time to download them and avoiding the spam and garbage from those megaupload sites, reboxed it and put it on alt.binaries.boneless last night. Just a rumor I heard from a guy I know. So for those with usenet access, it's a reliable source to get the maps without having to deal with all the other hassle. binsearch.info search link to the post: http://www.binsearch.info/?q=igo+8&max= ... e=&server=
  6. I have custom encoded videos on my iphone which play fine on my iphone... but on my F700 I hear audio, screen is black. Is it a format issue, or should I look elsewhere? I figure, if it plays on the iphone, it should play on the F700 - its just a composite in, it should play anything really, right? I guess I should test my iphone on my TV, but that means ripping the F700 out of my dashboard to retrieve the cable. Blech.
  7. The maps are a little difficult to find, and spammy as hell to download. Some guy I know may be uploading what he found to alt.binaries.boneless tonight. Someone checking there on the usenet in a little bit may find a good, working copy of the iGo 2008.4 maps/POIs.
  8. That'd be amazing and I'd spend the money for it. I currently have a Dash Express that has a cell phone built in - live traffic updates, and yahoo live searching. I love it - but I like my F700 more. I'm gonna ebay it soon (the Dash Express) I'd absolutely pay a monthly access fee for my F700 to be online. I had considered building a carputer but the components are so astronomically expensive to build myself, I just went for the F700.
  9. Well like I said - the unit did crash as I was changing colorschemes. Reloading my backup fixed the problem tho...
  10. In the meantime I'm writing a backup I made yesterday before it broke back to a SD card and gonna try a total overwrite and see if that fixes anything.
  11. I was messing around with the colors for the maps yesterday on my drive home, and halfway through the unit rebooted. I noticed after that the screen seemed dim. Today, I checked, and the brightness was at 0. I pushed it up. Then I set a route, and it was a male voice... WTF? I go to set it back to samantha, and shes not in the list. In fact, there's a lot of blanks, and a ton of foreign languages... I have like 7 pages of 'blank' voices, with some real ones under it, and duplicate voices. Its even worse for the TTS screen. Anyone know what happened and how to fix it? Un
  12. Aah cool thanks for the info. Last night I found the excel sheet for importing and exporting spud files... I put the red_light_cameras_us in there and set them right, loaded it up, and it worked last night. it seems any new files I download I think I know how to fix now, by setting the right attributes in the file based on what Boris posted. Thanks all...
  13. Any clue teh name/location of a spud file? And I know I can edit the original text file, but the problem is I dont know what values equal what camera types/etc... everything in the red light camera file is listed as type 7, speed 66mph. I dont know what that needs to be changed to to make igo see it as a red light camera. My thought of editing one, pulling it back off, then viewing the results wont work since I cant see what the contents of a spud file are... Any clue what the editor/viewer is? Or what the format numbers are?
  14. Ok when I try to open speedcam.spdb and speedcamupdates.spdb in sqlite browser, it tells me its not a SQLite 3 database. Now, totally stumped. Anyone?
  15. Ok, so I'm trying to figure this out. I need to learn the format of the red_light_cameras_us file... I downloaded these files from the Safety Cam Mod.zip set, and then wound up using Cmh's mod, but he has no speed camera info in there so I used the data files from the mod I downloaded. But every time I pass/approach a RED LIGHT camera, it reports it as a 66MPH speed camera. Its obviously stored in the file wrong. If I could just fix it... So I get an idea. I'll go into my avic, select a camera, edit it, make sure it's a red light camera only, reboot into testmode, pull the file bac

    peace out.

Ok, I went into my AVIC, selected a nearby cam, edited it, changed it to a redlight camera, rebooted into testmode, copied the red_light_camera_us.txt back to my SD card, just brought it inside, opened it up, and it's gibberish. Looks like the avic wrote it back as binary or something? Its the same exact size... still a text file, but it's binary gibberish. Anyone have any ideas? I know this is prob in the wrong thread, I'll start a new one...

    peace out.

Quick tutorial on that? Whenever I try and click on a camera on screen, it just sets the cursor to where I hit the screen, the 'car' loses focus, and drives off the now static map. So how do I edit them in the avic? I downloaded them all yesterday from some site I got the link to from here... I forget where though, but I did download two seperate files, red_light_camera_us and speedcam... Actually I just opened the red-light-camera-us file and it has a ton of them, all set to speed of 66 (hence why its showing its a 66mph speed cam...) How do I tag them as red light cameras instead

    peace out.

I just installed this on my new F700 (i bought it yesterday and had a question I cant seem to find the answer to. Theres a lot of red-light camera around work, but no speed cameras. Each one I appproach, it warns me, "Speed Camera, 70 miles per hour" and the screen shows a 66 MPH speed camera. I know for a fact these are red light cameras. Two of them are in 25 MPH zones - theres no way it'd be a 66 MPH speed camera in a 25 MPH zone. (And I got nailed at one once for running a red!) Is there a way to have speed and red light cameras correctly identified?
