  1. Hi there

Did a search but got nothing. I upgraded my F700BT to the latest firmware last summer when it came out, and all was/is fine. Recently, I noticed that the Radio/Ipod/CD will not mute for the navi voice; the navi voice speaks over while the music is playing. It muted the music in the 2.0 firmware. I never noticed if that stopped doing so when I upgraded to the 3.0 firmware (i don't use a lot my GPS), but is this normal? Is there a setting I should set to make it mute?

    Thanks

  2. ....he's described what he found very well and in plain language, he found the pin inside the connector on the header that plugs into the AVIC from the rt-audio RCA wasn't properly in the header.

Pardon my ignorance but the "connector on the header that plugs into the avic"... he is talking about the white "male" plastic piece that connects to the actual unit (it has tons of wires, of which some are for the RCA/Ipod) right?

So how did he fix it? Electrical tape? but where?

For me, it is the LEFT channels that goes dead once in a while. Which wire color could it be? Yellow or Red? I guess I will check them all.. but if someone knows, please let me know. By the way, electric tape on the RCA connectors did nada for me.

  3. Yep. I preorder today as well but they don't accept Canadian orders as it is the us site. The canadian site says nothing about a preorder or even the product update itself! So since I know that I would get fleeced by the Canadian pioneer site (we always do; they doubles or triple prices here!), I got a friend in NY to order it for me. So all is well!s

  4. I have a F700BT with 2.0 and did the hardware by-pass. I had it for about 1 month.

About once a week since I have it (or perhaps 3 times per 2 weeks), the Password screen comes up at startup and ask for the password. I enter it and after a message informing me that the unit is in the process of being unlock, all is fine. While the password screen is on and a password is requested, my FM station plays.

Is it normal that the unit ask for my password now and again? Sorry if this was asked before for a search did not yield that information.

    thanks

  5. Nice video and background music.

Somehow, my loading the IPOD is much faster on my F700BT than yours, and same for BT connection, but I have turned VR off. Loading to FM takes about 5 sec so I make a point of tuning to an FM station I like before turning off the engine; this way music is almost instantaneous. I am therefore not complaining.

My menu button is about the same as yours – slow at times but speeds up after a while. Other function buttons are snappy, but it depends: FM is quick, IPOD is slower(?)

    Nice set-up you have there.

Question - Do you have the by-pass? (I do)

PS - I like the end (i.e. "Fin", it gives it an European flavor..!)

  6. I have the F700BT and it is nothing like in that video. It is rather quick, and some buttons for certain functions are quicker. Sometime, for certain fonction (EQ), I need to press a few times, but this is rare. By the way, I have the hand break by-pass. But I am wondering if one would undo the by-pass if "button" speed would increase? Perhaps it is worth exploring this option and test this out? Anyone tried that? Did it do anything?

Alternatively, perhaps there are others on this forum who DO NOT HAVE the by-pass (software nor hardware) who have the same problem who can chim in? This could confirm that the by-pass is not the problem... Anyone?

  7. Wow! I am really impressed. Would it be possible to have 2 versions? That one (with the "Welcome Francois" a little higher) and one only with "Welcome" (no name) so that the rest of the community can use it as well (I doubt there are that many "Francois" around  )

This community is very close nit and help each other out. I am impressed, and I like it alot! I have so much choices now. Thanks for the link as well to the red screens. I have PM'ed the creator for a copy of the file.

    Thanks!

  8. Yes, I like it Bryan. Simple and to the point. Would it be possible to add a caption above that says: "Welcome François" and another below that says "Navigation is loading..." ? (My name is François -- i'm canadian...eh?)

Another question, Bryan. I try to download some background pictures from this site that were just like the one you send me (i.e. embedded in the body of the message), but some of them turned our to be too small for the F700BT's screen, i.e when I installed them, they were only half the height and lenght. What size does the F700BT require the picture to be? Am I downloading them wrong? Is it because I try to right click and select"Save as"?

Thanks and if you don't mind, is it possible to have other background, like for the FM screen and Ipod that would be red? Thanks for all your help, It is appreciated...

  9. You rock, thanks! One of my 4 kids complained about the lack of aesthetic of the default background. Imagine that, a 6 year old who is atuned to aesthetic... I'll have a problem when she'll be a teenager :D

Seriously, I am not really good at art and computer, so your help is appreciated. How many "backgrounds" is required for the F700BT? Can custom background be done for the Menu, FM, IPOD and CD (which are the only ones I really used)? The RSX's inside lights are all blood red so having different variant of red hues would be nice. Nothing to wild, with an Acura logo would be nice. Thanks again for your help!

    Cheers

  10. Hello

I just installed a F700BT with hardware hack and I have a few questions about its functionings. I searched and read the 191 page manual, but perhaps I am missing something but did not find much anwers to my questions, so if you don't mind, here are a few (perhaps stupid) questions:

    1) How do we "turn off" the unit? I mean, when one only wants to drive without music, beside turning the volume down, how do we do it? (And beside turning off the car, that is).

    2) Do I need an HD radio unit "add-on" to listen to HD radio stations? I think so, but I thought I would ask just to confirm...

    3) The "turn screen off" function is buried in the system settings, is there a way to have it more easily accessible?

    4) About the 2 main screens, I am correct to assume that the two main screen are only the Menu and Map screens? Is it possible to customize somehow these, or have one that would more simple, perhaps with a clock and the station listened to?

    5) I paired by Black Berry Curve 8310 with it and transfered my contacts. Do I need to VR the contact list somehow? Because voice recognition does not work with my contacts. I keep saying "Call "name"" and it keeps repeating the command. Yet VR works with my Ipod. So I am puzzled. Am I supposed to do something else on my contact list?

    6) On a related note, eventually VR thinks I have said a few numbers and starts dialing a few odd ones (it goes 555- when I said "Audrey" -- go figure!), is there a quick way to "hang up" the phone while I am in the VR screen?

    7) Am I correct to assume that 8 gig is the highest "SD card" I can use with it?

8 ) When I am listening to preset FM stations, the multifunction nob seems to only change the FM band by decimal instead of changing to the next preset. Is this normal/correct? Seems odd....

    9) Where can we get GPS map upgrade? Mine seems to date back from 2007... Are these the most recent?

    10) When entering an address in the GPS, how do we enter a "dash" as in "St-Martin" ? The "odd" characters option is greyed out?

    11) Do I need a screen protector or something? Is the screen that fragil?

    12) Screen beeps How do I turn these off? I think there is a hack for these, however...

Beside that, I like the unit. Sound is clear and IPod integration is great, and GPS works fine.

Thanks for helping a newbie on this one!

  11. Hello

I am preparing to do a hardware bypass on my F700BT but before I do that, I want to make sure that this does not in anyway damage the unit over the long term. Would it be possible for Fseries users who have done so to mention if they had any ongoing problems after doing the hardware bypass with their unit? How long have you ran the unit with the bypass? Any warranty problems afterwards?

    Thanks all for reassuring me!

    Cheers
