1. What is more unfortunate is that Pioneer's home audio gear is not all that great. IMHO it all sounds horrible.

The Elite line is very good...

Their Blu-Ray players are over priced and underwhelming...

I don't care much for the sound of the elite series. They look sexy without a doubt and they are packed with features but their sound falls pretty short of the price you pay. Maybe this re-dedication to their roots will improve their home and car audio products.

  2. Is there anyway to have drivers for a keyboard loaded on to WinCE when testmode boots up? I realize that there are no drivers to begin with but I am curious to know if it is possible. I ask because I had to get my F7010BT sent out to get the screen fixed from a non-responsive screen. I got it back with comments from the repair site that nothing was found to be wrong but they calibrated it anyway. When I booted the unit up it worked for about 10 seconds and then the screen stopped responding. I have a feeling that it is a set of modded files that I loaded that is causing the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  3. So I sent the unit out for warranty repair and just got it back. They say there was no problem, or so I believe as they had "NTF calibrated touch panel anyway" as the only comments on the packing list they sent back. It worked for about 10 seconds and then it stopped working I am going to try to mimic the length of time the unit was off before they got it to see if that suddenly makes the unit work. Any ideas?

  4. BBB is one of the most useless organizations in the US. If you really wanted to raise hairs I would take it to a state or federal agency that regulates businesses. They have the tendency to like taking on big companies. If you really want to stick it to Pioneer you can always contact The California Department of Consumer Affairs and file a formal complaint as the US office is headquartered in the LA area.

  5. Have you tried to re-calibrate the screen (access it by holding down the "menu" button), also try resetting your unit if that does not work, then recalibrate again. if that does not work then you are prolly screwed and will either hve to get a new radio or send that one off for repair

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems that that will not work as I can not hit the "OK" button to continue to the calibration screen. I will be calling the person I got the unit from to see where to go from here. Seems the unit is kaput.

  6. I have a question that needs answering though I am pretty sure I know the answer. The touchscreen on my F7010BT has crapped out and will not respond to anything. Even when in testmode I get no response. Now here is my question: Could mods and the illegitimate 3.xx update screw up the touchscreen? I would think that the touchscreen would be a WinCE thing but I need to make sure. Thanks guys.

  7. Updated my unit yesterday to 3.02. Update went flawless and everything works great/better. 1 issue I have noticed is that when on the map in 3D view, no road names show up. :? Any idea why this is?

    Thanks in advance. 8)

Hey IDT or anyone else with know how in this,

What do the values in the file mean? As stated in the thread you linked, I could not come up with any significant info.

  8. I did what you suggested for adding the file into the Image.Res file and got the icons to show up but no background pic. Granted the MainMenu.exe file still uses the .bmp file, the only thing I can think of is having the name of the .bmp file wrong. My guess is that there is no longer any code to use a .bmp file as a background.

  9. Don't know what Pwnin O'brien is talking about as I have IDT's mod on the X series 3.01 update and I have full functionality.

touche, are you using carvers latest release? Have you replaced both your CommonLib.dll and MainMenu.exe? I don't really have many mods on my unit and the ones I do only deal with the DATA.zip files, I don't understand why I wouldn't have 100% functionality.

I have played around with my unit a bit and have found that leaving the unit on the map will lock up the front panel buttons as well as the problems I described before. If you reset the unit you can access all parts of the unit. If the unit is shut down in a menu like the AV section or main menu you can go to the map and all buttons work.

  10. [. Many forget that long ago people use maps and directions from others to get from one place to another. It sucks that our maps suck with the 3.0 update but I think it should not really change anything in terms of getting from point A to point B especially on long trips. Take a chill pill man.

Long ago people also used horses to get from A to B, I have a cheap Tom Tom which can get the directions correct everytime I have to visit a company on an industrial site I have never visited before, it is a great tool and uses the same map base as my F900BT.

The difference is about £700 and the Pioneer frequently gets it wrong, I also p[lan my jouirney with maps but I don't want to be driving, reading a map, interpreting road signs and watching other traffic, much safer to have a reliable modern Navigational instrument as an aid don't you think.

If a cheap TomTom can get it right with the same map base why then not expect Pioneer to do it, the maps are correct in my F900 its the way the thing interprets the data that is frequently wrong making it a very expensive dash ornament.

I feel sure if Pioneer don't get it right in the end some of the great modders on here will so I put up with it for now.

Well from the start I figured that more than likely in the is routing algorithm that is being problematic and not the maps but I was not sure who else used the same maps and how well they worked. I always try to have a general idea of where I am going and what highways to look for on major trips. For local traffic it can obviously be pretty hard to remember it all. Considering that, it makes it a bit extreme to blame the map provider for a routing issue. It is not like the map suddenly doesn't have a highway and tries to get you somewhere else. Even mapquest and goolgle maps have different directions.

I take what I said back. I spoke too soon. On my way to six flags today the unit locked up on the map and was acting funny. I had no way to get to the AV part as the small button on the bottom right disappeared and the menu button no longer worked. I reset the unit and then it was working fine. I will have to try using it some more to say for sure that I have no problems. Sorry to doubt you and discount your problems.

  12. Well that's why you should look up where you are going and use the GPS as a guide and not a crutch.

You know, it's funny how I can try and contribute to a thread by posting MY experiences which directly relate to the topic, and then some smart ass comes along trying to insult me... So, just to clarify, I NOTICED that the GPS was not routing me correctly either on my trip OR driving around town, and by saying that I mean it was WAY off... But I didn't say ANYTHING about actually following what the GPS was telling me to do. So please, if you have something to say that will actually contribute, feel free to say it.

Sorry to furl your feathers there bud. My point was that many people rely on the GPS to tell the where to go everywhere. Many forget that long ago people use maps and directions from others to get from one place to another. It sucks that our maps suck with the 3.0 update but I think it should not really change anything in terms of getting from point A to point B especially on long trips. Take a chill pill man.

  13. This is what I got when I tried adding the file to the common folder in the Image.Res file.

This is obviously not the actual unit but it is pretty close. I am using the emulator to get the mainmenu.exe to run and show what comes up. I added the pic which was a 24 bit .bmp file to the common folder using 7zip without unpacking Image.Res. I got stuck here and gave up.

Thats Black background with no icons touche6784 is becaause you Zipped it wrong, after you un zip the Image.res and add the .bmp you need to go into the first image folder and zip that back up not the main folder that it unzipped

I did not unzip Image.res. I click and dragged the .bmp file into the common folder within the 7zip program. Like I said, no unpacking, unzipping was done to Image.res. Maybe I am doing it wrong.
