i have one of those (diff manufacturer) in my titan, it's powering 5 additional screens like a charm

i'm getting stuck at the part unmounting the SDMLC Disk. i'm getting an error message "cannot unmount store" also cannot format the store and cannot create a new partition.

what to do?

i'm aware of everything you just said. but i've helped other members, and offered money all that just can't get no help. but i just knew someone would comment on that post.

i'm aware not everyone has the ability or an f900. it's just frustrating to be this close and have to wait on the right person to see my post, another reason i have multiple posts.

this is easy. somebody with an f900 please bring up test mode, click DISKRW and copy ur SDMLC.

it will fix my unit and take you maybe 5 minutes.

could someone with a f900 and an SD card do me huge favor? i need a copy of your SDMLC file. my unit has not worked for almost 3 weeks now and i have been ALL OVER this forum trying to fix it when just about everyone says it is bricked or nothing can be done it needs to go back to pioneer. well i'm happy to say that with persistance and help from other members on here i've almost got it fixed. the problem is starting to become more common so this isn't gonna help just me, it will be in thread i started with a solution at the end. not like a thread you read and ur like "oh shit that is what mines doin" then you read the whole thread with links too 3 more just like it and none of the people ever come back once their shit is fixed to say what the problem and fix was.

anyhow, rant over.

to get this file you just upload ur SD card with testmode V2.3 loaded on it. when the blue screen comes up you click the icon on ur "desktop" called DISKRW and read your SDMLC file. copy that to your SD card. bring it in and move it from the card to your computer. Then post it here. you may have to host it somewhere, not really sure where. but this would be a huge help this is the last little piece to my and a couple others puzzle. Thanks in advance.

TJ do you have a US F700? What version Avic do you have, my thought is that maybe it might need a different copy of the SDMLC back up. The second file download in step 3 (3b) is only a back up for the 700UC model so I didnt tell everyone to download it, only if they need it. i didnt need it to fix my unit but put it up for other people just incase.

 

If you do have a 700UC I would say wait a few extra minutes to let the process finish writing in the DISCRW mode. it does take some time you will eventually see the ******* finish going still wait a minute after that and something on the screen writes that it is complete and has been checked for completion and succesfulness. I would say wait for that to pop up.

 

If you dont have a 700UC I would start asking members to make copies of their SDMLC file to do this its pretty easy. I know another member messaged me saying that they hae a european model so the backup of the SDMLC that i posted in 3a would not work for them. If there are members out there that are willing to help people out that did this all they have do do is put an SD card in with Testmode 2.3 or 2.2 (if they only have FW2.0 on it) go into testmode and clickon the DISKRW icon and then Read their SDMLC to their SD card card. Load the SD card on their computer and send it to you.

 

I would recomend people actually making a copy of this file just for safe keepings incase they do mess their units up, its good to have now that we know it can fix currupt windows files.

i have a US f900. i tried 3 times to write the SDMLC last nite and the final time letting it write for a whole hr. it gets stuck at reading the file, it never starts writing. so you may be write in that i need the f900 SDMLC. i don't know where i would acquire that or whom to ask. we need to grab that thing though and see if they are the same...

there may be a fix to this thanks to tail24. i'm working the bugs out right now and as soon as they're worked out i'll post up a link.

another thing....

i noticed we downloaded a file that wasn't used in this process. it's the "Disk1File" or Part 1 - Step 3a

was this file unneccessary or just left out?

well this has worked well for me up until the part where it writes the .IMG file. i got it to write and all that (btw the button that you press once you select that file is "write") but it never finishes writing. there is just an hour glass that keeps turning over, over and over again. but the text in the box finished so i assumed it was done and just clicked "ok". then proceed on, navigated to myflashdrive, ect. and finished the steps. but i restarted and didn't work. tried another update, didn't work. still keeps getting stuff on the black screen.

but....

before the unit would just shut off after 20 second. i couldn't do SHIT with it. BUT NOW i can get into test mode, press menu after a few seconds, and get to system settings and all that.

i am trying to do the process over from the "WRITE" step because that seems to be where things stopped taking effect.

yea i was just reading that thread. i found the code to enter and got fully into "service mode". i'm reading now about service mode to see if i can do my updates via the SD card. so far it will not let me because i don't have the files winceimage.bin and winceimage.cks loaded on my SD. i'm gonna locate those files and throw them on there and post my results. i feel like i'm making some headway.

i got 2 more questions and then i'm giving in and sending it to pioneer.

1. I got a blue screen to come up by pressing the menu + map buttons. it allows me to press buttons to attempt to put in a "code". is there something i can do with this "code" during the blue screen to get some funtions back??? I feel like if i get one function and can get others. but my unit is locked up, no updates, no test mode, no nothing. can anything be done at this blue screen?

2. i want to undo my parking brake bypass but it was done by a shop so i don't know what wire it is. pioneer is blaming everyones problem of the unit not booting on this mod so i want to undo it real quick and see if that clears it up. this is my last chance and last attempt at fixing this on my own and its gettin unplugged and boxed up. what wire is this? do i just basically unground it or what.

after i try this i will either be fixed hopefully or be sending it in. either way i'll be out of yalls hair.

this unit is the biggest fucking turd i have ever used. i've been trying to fix it for 2 weeks with no avail. to be honest, it is SHIT straight from the box. slow, gps is garbage, and the annoyingly loud beep followed by a massive LAG while navigating. before i got this unit i was a HUUUUGE fan of pioneer. it was the only deck i would buy and the only brand i have ever used in EVERY vehicle i have ever had. but after paying the rediculous retail price for a POS like this.... i will never buy pioneer again.

i used to think that pioneer meant top of the line products and features. if this is the best that human kind can come up with.... we are in BIG big trouble.

just tried the v2.3 test mode. still can't get it into test mode to delete the files. =/

ok disregard... i didn't have a program to decompress the RAR file. got it loaded on the card but still no test mode.

i'm having the same problem. i can't get my unit into test mode. i'm currently trying to get the v2.3 rar files on my card to get it into test mode that way but it seems like the file is incomplete. how exactly and WHAT exactly do you put onto the card?

i DL'd the v2.3 .rar file but it isn't a complete file. so i can't open it on my computer. it's 692 KB but there is a root file missing or something. needless to say it doesn't do shit to my avic when it is started and that's on the SD.

please school me someone.

Attempting to repair the device yourself will likely void the warranty on it :-\ Especially if you open it up.

It's weird that Pioneer would just make a rash assumption that everyone has done the Parking Brake Bypass, considering the vast majority of owners probably don't know about this forum, and frankly probably don't care to modify their headunit.

Right, but you don't have to know about this forum to do the bypass. I shop did mine. And if you call up Pioneer with this problem, weird as it may be, they will assume that you have done the bypass. It is written all over this site, nevermind they said it right to me on the phone. They asked if i did the bypass as soon as i said what was going on. I asked if i could fix it on my own and they said no to send it in.

But anyhow that is all irrelevant. Anyone else have any other ideas short of taking my unit apart? That is where i'm gonna draw the line and send it back or if a cpl more experienced members on here say i'm out of options.

Checked the battery at Autozone and it is perfect.

I have a brand new battery only about 2 months old installed by the dealership. But i am taking it to Autozone now anyways to rule this out. I will post my results.

and i know the bypass dont' have anything to do with anything and can't believe they are handing that out as an answer as to why shit loads of ppls units just take a shit for no reason. i can't accept that and that is why i refuse to send it in and want to fix it myself.

i want to try the fixes some had success with in test mode such as deleting the 4 files GpsparaX.bin X= 0-3 but i can't get it into test mode. there was a thread around here somewhere that i am currently searching for that tells a way to get into test mode a little easier.
