  1. Thanks koper.. good to know how to fix it if it stops working again.. though Im now using one of the nightly builds like ryar suggested and google maps is working fine.. I have been busy the last few days so I haven't had a chance to play with this again until today.. I am going to do what ryar has suggested and do multiple smaller .raster files. I'm still trying to get all the 20x images down from google earth though.. wish it would download faster its taking hours just to get 2gb worth of images.. does anyone know how to take a screenshot on the AVIC? would be nice to post some screenshots when I get it all running the way I want.

  2. Hey good call on the nightly! Ill look into it.. I WISH I would have found that tutorial when I was trying to figure it out too.. I was doing the same as you.. google translating .ru websites and piecing info together. I was trying to figure out the license file on another forum and another member posted that website.. I was like WTF! why in the hell did I not find that haha! What do you mean by "I had to download and render one at a time or the roads would not match up for the extire area" because mine are off somewhat.. but if im reading correctly you are saying you just did one "tile" at a time. so you have say 6 .raster files? This might actually make the most sense, not sure why I didnt think about it.. so that it just loads up the direct area I am around instead the WHOLE area.. *DUH* wish I knew how to take a screenshot on the avic...

You said something about newer version of NNG Raster? im using 3.1.5.. so far the newest I have found and what is in the attachment in the OP. You find something I havnt? MY google-fu is pretty strong but I didnt even find that tutorial lol.

Who wants their maps to look like the right side?! i know I did! Read on!

Been a long time since ive been on here.. and im glad I did. I found chucks mod and unlocked a WHOLE new level of awesomeness to my avic! iGo Primo is great! First of all you use satellite images to create the raster files that overlay on your regular maps! Its not very hard to do.. you just need a few tools which I attached to this post, and a license file that allow for raster images which I cant post here but the full file name is below and a simple google search should allow you to find it easily. http://wisnata.blogspot.com/2012/09/raster-maps-untuk-igo-primo_8613.html is the best tutorial that I have seen. You will probably need to use Google Translate or something similar.. i did haha. In the SAS Planet program "Satellite (Yahoo)" seems to be the best as Google's satellite no longer works in the program. You can probably use Google Earth software instead of SAS Planet but I havnt tried it so im not sure how to do it..

First I tried using 16x zoom on the maps and while it works, detail when zoomed in on the nav pretty much sucks. At 16x zoom my area which consisted of 6 tiles churned out a 77mb .raster file at HQ settings. But like I said zoomed in colors just blend and its not very good. So onto 18x zoom which is what Im currently using at HQ setting churned out a 124mb .raster file and my F series handles it just fine and I can actually see individual homes on my street. I am going to try 20x but its going to take probably all nite to get all the images down in SAS Planet. The size of the download for 20x is pretty large download it was going to take hours when I tried earlier.. so im just gonna set it to download before I goto bed tonite. Im also not expecting the avic to handle it very well due to what im expecting to be at least a 250-300+ file size and limited RAM.. but im gonna try none the less just to see. Im completely happy with 18x anyways. When using the NNG Raster program always use to "bicubic" filter setting as it has the best results hands down.

iPhone_Primo_ISR_1101__NNG__DEM__3D__PST__CAR__JV_ _Google__TMC___v2.1__.lyc <-- the name of the license file you will need to enable raster maps.

Let me know if you have any questions and ill try to answer them.

  4. Ok so i was having the same problem as others (bt sofware version: not found) except deleting the said files was not fixing it either.. turns out the fix is simple.. so i am posting this for any future readers of this post.. just goto pioneers website and download the bt software update for your avic.. run the update.. even if you already have the update like i did.. it will run again because when it checks your current version it comes back not found.. i didnt even have to reboot after.. and all is working even after 6 reboots

here is a link to where i downloaded the update for my f7010 which is the same as f700 (Except the f7010 has a 3yr warranty ;P)

  5. Thats the BIGGEST problem car stuff at best buy.. 9 times out of 10 the guy sellin the equipment has NO clue about how the stuff really works (ur lucky if they know how to change a fuse) and when you ask stuff like "is this all i need?" they have no idea so they say yes.. most newer cars require a bypass module to fool the cars security into thinking the key is in the ignition so it can be started... a remote start essentially "hot wires" a car.. but with the anti theft stuff in cars these days its not as easy as crossing a few wires. I can say that you can buy the bypass modules off the internet for WAY cheaper than best buy is going to sell you. The "Expresskit PKALL" which is more than likely what best buy was going to sell you is $50 on ebay (just search pkall).. its basically a universal piece that can be programmed via usb for specific vehicles.

*installation is not "free" at bestbuy.. there is about $150 tacked onto the price of the alarm when you buy it there.. thats your install fee.. they WILL NOT sell you an alarm without install (even if ur gonna do it yourself).. thats why the alarms sold on the internet are WAY cheaper..

  6. id have to say the new viper remote is my favorite part and my least favorite at the same time =P I love the look and feel of the new style remotes.. much more elegant looking than the old ones.. i like the 2way feature.. my civic has the older 2 way with the screen which is bulky and kills batteries rather quick. While they do have a newer style remote with the screen on it i like the 5900's led 2way system.. i just replaced the batteries in the remote 2day after 7+months... i replace the battery like every 3 in the old one. The only reason I would say that I dont like the new remotes is there is a little bit of a delay.. if you press and release the buttons too fast is will blink and beep but wont make it to the car.. just get use to holding the button for like half a second and its all good! overall i love it.. the delay is not REALLY a dislike.. but i had to think of something =P You will like it.. get someone who knows what they are doing to install it and you should have no problems out of it. Remote starts on newer vehicles are not exactly a DIY project unless you have some experience working with the electrical systems in newer cars.. i do have to say though that toyota will be one of the easier ones should you try to tackle it yourself. enjoy! Merry Christmas from NC!

  7. I also have a 5901.. love it.. anyways im an automotive electronics installer. I just checked out the wires for an 06 tundra it has 2 ignition wires and 1 accessory wire. as long as all 3 of those are powered with the remote start your radio will come on. Some cars have multiple ignition wires and multiple accessory wires. Whoever did the install on the avalanche must not have hit all of them (they are not all required to start the car).. dunno why but they should have.

  8. I dont see any future firmware updates making bootup that much faster.. I would either say try to get use to it.. or get a remote start =P I hardly ever see my boot screen and if i do its only for a cpl seconds.. for small stops Ive put a lil push button on my dash to activate the remote start so when im stopping off at say the gas station for some beer or whatever.. i press it.. wait 2 seconds and take the keys out.. car stays running.. therefore so does my avic..

EDIT* obviously remote starts are good for more than just missing my boot screen also! Like keeping my a$$ warm this time of year =P

  9. quick lowdown on my setup.. F7010bt... "unofficial" 3.0 which is just a flashdisk dump of the x910.. then updated with the xseries 3.0101 update from pioneer.. and then when i got my hands on the official i used the 2nd SD to update it with no problems.. I have only really used the nav on trips so im usually moving.. and havnt noticed until today.. when driving around town sometimes when im stopped its like the nav doesnt know what direction im pointing and moves around and usually settles in the completely wrong direction... then finally corrects itself after i start moving again. Im thinking it has something to do with having the x910 software on it seeing as how the x910 has a a gyro and my f7010 does not.. I installed an X710 into a customers car the other day and dumped the flash disk afterwards.. I have been keeping virgin dumps(booting to testmode on FIRST power up) of these avic units because it has saved me from having to ship customers units back to pioneer because of what seems to be file corruptions (pioneers just gonna reload the flash disk anyways.. I can do that lol) .. so im wondering if i completely redo my flash disk with the x710 software if it will fix my problem...

on another note... the x series update from pioneers website updates to ver. 3.0101.. the x710 i dumped says the software ver is 3.02... def newer than 3.01!

  10. as long as the SD card with the testmode is in the SD slot its going to keep going back to the "desktop". After you copy the MyFlashDisk to your AVIC just take the SD card out and then do the reset and you should be fine.

  11. I would have to say its not very doable with current technology. The best i was able to get was with a home antenna which is like you are describing.. it was a flat... white.. rectangle that was about 12" x 8" and 3/4" thick. worked way better than the one that came with the tuner but still choppy at best while driving. Think old school.. old rabbit ear analog antennas.. you had to move them around to get a good signal.. if you sat there barely moving the "ears" up and down even 1" the signal would go in and out..

  12. There is a thread about this already the link is below.. carver has done some leg work even getting some larger chips in the same family and trying it. Problem is the nand on it. We would first have to get the nand to dump from the original chip then likely modify it to accept the larger chip. Getting the software AtlasMgr5 and the hardware to do so seems to be the trouble. Take a look at what has been found so far. I would love to help make this happen. I have put some posts and requests for the software out there in cyberspace but so far no replies.

  13. I have messed with this on a customers car before.. With the current generation of hdtv antennas i dont think its ever going to work. We tried the supplied antenna... we even tried to use a big one for home use.. it was a LITTLE better but not much. If you find something that does work please let me know!

  14. I was not around the forums when this discussion started.. none of the pictures work anymore.. carver.. if you could get them back up that would be nice. Im interested in this.. what happened when you put the other chips in? nothing at all? i guess no service mode with it not being programed to the chip.. like a bios chip with no bios on it. I found the K9HCG08U1M-PIB0 chip on Samsung's website but no real info. Did you get documentation with it? I have a 28pin eeprom programmer that i use for honda ecu eeproms.. I did see that it is a 48 pin chip on Samsung's website but maybe a simple adapter could be made. im sure power and programming are dealt with on only a few pins. when you said that you could see the "secret" OEMInit menu in uboot im assuming you disassembled the uboot bin file? If the menu is in the programming there has to be a way to access it.

  15. For those who get their tech news from Maximumpc.com you may have already noticed that google is trying to populate its new google earth by releasing a building maker for the masses to "easily" create 3d buildings for submission to google. Can be found here http://sketchup.google.com/3dwh/buildingmaker.html. I have not gotten a chance to check it out yet im just posting this to make others aware. Maybe.. just maybe.. this could be used to somehow create more buildings for our avics... There is not one 3d building where i live it would be cool to change that.

  16. knew it would happen sooner or later.. maps are getting to big for the flashdrive in our avic! i have the high res dem file and dont wanna part with it.. i have read that you can put the maps on an sd card as well if i remove the maps from the flash drive.. will it do both like if i put JUST my states map.. pois.. and what not on the flash drive and just store the rest of the maps on SD?? so i would only need the SD if i were going out of state...

p.s. someone better at this than i please figure out how to upgrade the flash media in our avics!!!
