  1. Very cool!

BTW, this Deck is not a m5... I just drove to another city to buy m5x8mm and they are certainly too large! Won't fit in the holes!

I also have some m4 laying around and they are too small!

I don't know what's going on here but I guess fkr now the headunit sits on the floor! Crazy!

  2. Man, I somehow lost the screws for my headunit when i removed it years ago.

Now I'm trying to reuse the headunit in a another car I picked up but misplaced the screws.

I stole some out of a jvc headunit but they don't fit.

Anyone know what size screws I should be looking for?

    Thanks!

  3. Wow, as a biker myself I wouldn't install this in a motorcycle, sounds silly to me.  These radios definitely aren't designed for water, and I can't imagine using these with direct sunlight. On top of that, you're giving up a beautiful capacitive touchscreen on your phone to use a resistive touchscreen on the avic. Definitely a downgrade.

Personally, I would just use a RAM mount for your phone and pair that up with some newer comm technology such as the PacTalk Bold. This would give you all your OK google and voice activation type of controls, and even allows for multiple audio channels (for instance, you could have DMC communication with your buddies and have music in the background, or even share your music WITH your riding buddies)

Still, I know we put a lot of value in the cosmetic stuff we do to our bikes, and having a big screen does add to the cool factor. It's just that I'm a tech nerd at heart, and installing an avic in my bike is a step backwards not forwards:)

On the flipside, if you really wanna use something on your bike, I'd consider something like the 8" modular unit as listed here https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/DMH-C5500NEX. This at least would give you a much nicer capacitive touchscreen and an even larger size.

In regards to what can you do with the setup you mentioned above, I'm not sure there's a whole lot people here will respond to. It's basically just a radio that does radio stuff, if you know what I mean :)

    PS- Nice looking bike!

  4. Hey guys, quick question.

Some of the Pioneer models have touch buttons instead of physical buttons for the volume and stuff, for example this one here:
    https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/DMH-C5500NEX

I was just wondering what happens during video playback...does the video go into fullscreen mode? Or are the radio controls still there on the left side overlapping?
What about when using maps or other tools?

Hoping someone has seen one in person :)

    Thanks!

  5. I've got some older avic devices that all needed bypasses... But I'm curious about the newer devices that do not have built in maps.

Even though the devices such as the C5500NEX uses android auto and carplay will it still lock itself out when in motion?

  6. The offical map releases now come from Navigation.com

2015 is the latest release for our units  (z110-z140). I imagine at some point they will stop updating older units - trying to force us to "upgrade" to newer hardware.

It looks like the link now shows that 2017 maps are now available for the 130, is this true?

If so I may have to see if I can find it. I'd love to be able to keep my nag screen hack though!

EDIT: Nevermind I see your post in the other section now :D

For those of you that stumble across this old post check out the hacks/mods section !

  7. Hey guys,

I'm on my 3rd Avic unit over the years, starting from the N1 all the way up to the z130.

I've been lucky enough to keep swapping head units without the need to change the wiring harness (I did a very nice soldering job lol).

I'm looking at getting the 8200nex now, and was just wondering if I will be able to do the same thing, basically just plug and play.

Realistically, I don't mind installing a new harness, but the last couple units I've crossed into the USA (I live in Canada) to purchase, and it's nice to drop it in the dash before coming back through customs :D

    Thanks!

  8. Is the screen moving in or out at all? If not, can you move it in and out if you do it manually?

I'm just wondering if the unit is trying to move the screen and it's binding somewhere. I've fixed a few avics that had this issue.

  9. Hey fellas,
I have a z130 that I updated thanks to this site to the 2015 z140 maps if I remember correctly.

I'm just wondering though, are there any other updates available? Are 2016 maps available, even as a purchase? I looked on ebay and couldn't really find anything newer than 2015 so I thought Id post here in case I'm losing my mind :D

    Thanks!

  10. Hey folks :D

Quick question for the pros out there coming from the avic-z series.

I've had a few avics over the years, and the last couple ones used the same wiring harness. That allowed me to install my z130 without having to resolder the wires.

I don't mind doing that, but to be honest I sometimes drive down south of the border (I'm canadian) and do a swap before coming back over the border to help with customs :D
Just wondering if I need to take my soldering stuff with me, or if the new nex8100 will use the same wiring harness as my z130?

    Thanks for your time!

  11. Hey guys, probably a dumb question but I'm a long time avic user with my iPhones. Currently I use my iPhone 5 with the pioneer adapter to control my pandora and iPod music etc, but I'm thinking of switching over to android now.

    Specifically, the Samsung galaxy note.

I know the specs of our radio says supports android, but does it have to use Bluetooth?

Is there a cable or adapter? Will I be able to control my android thru my head unit?

I just don't wanna go back to the old days of using a 3.5mm audio out cable :)

I'm just wondering if the Android support is as good as the iPhone support (not that the iPhone support was ever that great!)

    Thanks for your time!

  12. Hey guys, was hoping for a few opinions.

I'm a heavy smartphone (i5) user and really miss having the video output I used to have with the older non lightening iPhones.

I'm not sure what I think of the app radio. Would this be an upgrade for me or a downgrade?

Anyone have any feedback on the app radio? Pioneer in my opinion has been very gimmicky with the iPhone support over the years.

    Opinions?

  13. Don't want to hijack this topic but from dahozzman's post above, I gather that the Z140 still had the BT problems documented in the BT MIC sticky thread. There is no reference to the Z140 in that thread. I had a Z1 years ago and the BT was unusable. I won't buy the Z150 if this problem has not be addressed. Anyone with a Z140 have a comment? If there is another thread on this, please let me know. Maybe some Z140 owners can post to the BT Mic thread. Thanks

I can comfirm 100% that the BT quality is fantastic in the z130+. I had the old Z3 and it was unusable. Cant go wrong with any radio now I dont think

  14. I just want to know if the Z150 FINALLY solves the Bluetooth quality issues.

my z140bt has fantastic quality, if you are referring to telephone calls.

I drive a loud older tacoma pickup truck and everyone says they hear me as if Im on a land line...
