  1. is anyone having problems downloading this... mine will get most of the way through then just tell me download failed   4 times now  takes like 3 hours each time   quite agrivating any ideas?

I'm having the same problem.  Downloaded it 3 times now but at the end tells me it failed.  Did you do anything different to get it to work??

  2. This unit plays back music files in whatever PHYSICAL ORDER they are on the drive, USB or SD, etc. (I don't know about CD since I have never even put a CD in my unit) If you want the unit to play them in alphabetical order you have to physically put them in that order on your USB/SD etc.

There is a small free program called DriveSort that works very well for this. Do a google search and I'm sure you'll find it, it's pretty easy to use and it works great.

  3. This is the 2nd biggest annoyance of this unit for me, the first being entering a street name as a destination. Unless you're already looking at a map and know the EXACT SPELLING, forget it. My 2003 Acura Navi unit automatically grey's out invalid keypad options, but this high-end unit does not. That's pretty incredible.

Overall in general you could say this unit is 'street-ignorant'.

  4. Probably not. SD card/USB device playback of video is probably one of this units biggest drawbacks. Some people on here have dedicated dozens of hours on trying to figure out why one video file plays while the other does not. Honestly, unless you want to drive yourself crazy tinkering with some sort of video file converter program (like SUPER) for hours and hours your best bet is to simply load it on your ipod and play it from there. Anything else and you are just asking for torture and disappointment.

  5. Regardless, I don't believe they are high and dry here. Just can't imagine they are just scratching their heads on the omission of one of the main features of their flagship HU.

If they don't come up with something or an alternative way to get live traffic updates for this HU in 2 years Pioneer will have forever killed their trust with me. $1,200 for a HU that's voluntarily and purposely obsolete in 2 years with little to no resale value. It's one thing for technology itself to make hi-end products obsolete, it's a totally different thing for the company that built a product to do it on purpose. Talk about killing brand loyalty! Who in their right mind would EVER risk purchasing another Pioneer deck again? Certainly not me.

  6. Well , there is not a lot about the F910 that I dislike (once it is modded to remove the nag screen and be able to update maps) but, the Z110/F10 has a larger screen , less mechanical buttons (so is more aesthetically pleasing IMO) and lacks the iPod connection method that the F910 has (which is frankly ludicrous considering Alpine have had direct USB iPod connection for years). Add to that the improved startup times , the allegedly better display of navi info and voice control and you have what in my opinion is an upgrade from the F910 that some many consider insignificant but I would like to see (once the unit is hacked).

If you're at all concerned with navi then I would definitely not get the Z110BT. The navi functionality and usefulness of this unit is a complete joke. Sure it's got a great screen and looks good, but what good is that if it gives you messed up directions or forces you to type in the exact spelling of any street name you input without eliminating the invalid options with the use of greyed out letters? Those shortcomings on top of your hatred of the nag screen completely rules out this unit for you, you would not be happy with it one bit so you should just move on.

  7. I looked at your other post(major navigation issue) and as far as the disappering letter goes ,that foncton work on my AVH-7500dvd connected to a avic 80dvd gps but they have taking it out on the z110bt!?? Doesn't make much sense but they also took out the 5.1 surround sound processor, the ir, remote control and tv tuner(this one I understand)all fuctions I have on my 8 year old head unit.

Sometime I just don't get Pioneer.

Yes, the removal of the grayed out letters on street name input is another major disappointment. In fact the street I was going to was called De Bie St., but everybody calls it DEBIE St. As you can imagine it took me 5 min. to figure it out, I tried Debby, Deby, Debie, Debbie, Debiee, Debee, every way you could imagine to spell Debie. Finally I just put in De and then I was able to go to the list and found a De Bie St. Sure enough that was it! And after all of that the directions it gave me were ridiculous. It's almost like Pioneer is f'ing with us all with this deck.

I don't mind so much about the 5.1, remote or tv tuner but the horrible address input and retarded navigation "logic" the unit uses makes it a total bust. I would definitely NOT buy it if I were a cab driver, or had to rely on accurate navigation instructions for any other profession. You'd quickly be out of gas and/or your job.

  8. Nice write-up. It seems the navi on this unit is sub-par at very best. Mine had me going the exact opposite direction on one of the streets I had to be on to get to my final destination. I think Pioneer really dropped the ball on the entire navi functionality of this unit. They can say it has VR and millions of POI's and 3d and all of that, but when you get down to it it's really a horrible navi deck.

  9. Is anyone else experiencing bizarre navigation directions from their Z110BT?? I FINALLY got a chance to use the navigation function of this deck to go to a friends house up in Cerritos and the directions it gave me was nothing close to what my OEM Navi unit in my Acura TL gives. It had me going on side streets for over 5 miles instead of taking the freeway and even wanted me to get off on some exit that did not even exist when I was on the freeway. What's worse, on the way home just for the hell of it I tried the "return home" option to see how that worked. It literally had me going in the exact opposite direction of a major blvd. once I hit my exit. Specifically, I live off of Beach and Adams in Huntington Beach, which is about a mile from the ocean. When you take the 405 to get to Beach Blvd. you have to go sough on Beach for about 4 or 5 miles to get to Adams St. It wanted me to go NORTH on Beach Blvd. That on top of last nights bizarre directions has me VERY upset with the navigation "logic" (if you can really call it that??) this deck possesses. I'll likely be visiting my friends in Cerritos again, so I'll see what it says or try to get some pictures of it's directions using the profile function.

Has anyone else experienced any type of similar issues with the navigation directions? I might just contact Pioneer about this as having a $1800 navigation deck tell you to go in the exact opposite direction of your destination is entirely unacceptable. I should have taken a picture of it last night but I was (obviously) driving. And FYI, I didn't make any manual adjustments to the route, I hit "return home" and started following directions.

Overall the difficulty between using this unit vs. the one in my TL is mindblowing. I always liked the interface in my acura but I had no idea how spoiled I was until I purchased this Pioneer for my sports car. Simple things like only allowing valid entries while inputting a street name in a particular city (with the use of disappearing letters) I totally took for granted. I'm completely floored that Pioneer would even release such a navi product like this. Are all Pioneer navigation decks equally as bad?? I heard they were good but this thing is just atrocious. It's so bad I am seriously contemplating selling it for something else.

  10. I had Beach Autosound install mine and they did a perfect job. The guy there didn't have any problem doing the bypass for it either (so long as you move the pin one over yourself, although I'm sure he wouldn't have minded doing it for you). They're off of Beach and Talbert in Huntington Beach. Total charge was $120. A more modern car might have been cheaper, mine is a 1995 model year car so they had to run the antenna up above the gauge cluster to get good reception and custom fabricate a mounting plate since the kit didn't come with one.

  11. UPDATE

I heard back from a Pioneer support rep. today. He said he has had the same question from other users but he doesn’t know exactly what the unit uses to order them, but said other users have had luck using this application:

    http://www.anerty.net/software/file/DriveSort.php

If that is true, the Z110BT is probably displaying/ordering the files in whatever physical order they appear on the memory device. I'm going to try this software tonight using the LFN Sort option and see if that'll put them in alphabetical order since that's all I really want.

I'll let you know if it works. Feel free to try it yourselves, be sure and post back with your results.

    09/23/09 UPDATE:

This application works great. I tried it with both my SD card and USB drive and it put everything in alphabetical order when the Z110BT read it. Perfect solution.

  12. It lists the folders alphabetically, which is reasonable and makes sense, but once you open a folder there is no discernable order to how the individual mp3 files are arranged. They always appear in the exact same order every time, so it's not random, but I have no idea what it's looking at to put them in that order. Things it's NOT looking at is:

    File size

    Name

    Date modified

I'm going to shoot an e-mail off to Pioneer to see if they know.

  13. I called MSN direct customer support and the guy said yes, the tuner does come with a free 12 month subscription if you buy it separately. He said you need to enter the 20-digit alphanumeric code that comes with the tuner to activate it. Mine won't be here until Tuesday next week so I guess I'll find out then. If you activated yours and did not get a free 12 month trial I would call MSN since I think they're the ones that handle the subscription portion of it.

  14. Yeah, The guy at RVFunProducts told me the same thing, that it was built in, after I was told otherwise by several other people. So I figured I'd go straight to the source and shot that e-mail out a couple of days ago. I just got the response from Pioneer this morning, then saw your thread, so figured I'd post the response I received from "Rocky" at Pioneer.

I ordered one from Amazon a couple of days ago for $90 shipped which isn't too bad I guess.

Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.

If you would like the MSN service, you would have to have the add-on tuner.

  16. Actually I had the same problem with my factory Infinity system after I installed a high-end Eclipse deck back in the late '90s in my 3000GT. The Eclipse deck never sounded as good as the factory system, I guess because of the way the factory deck powered each line or something, I'm not exactly sure. I eventually removed the stock speakers and added a separate amp to power some Focals and it sounded excellent after that, but just replacing the deck itself was in fact a downgrade in overall sound from the system.
