  1. I tried the same myself and had no joy, So looked around and found someone mentioning the USB connector on the poineer units can not quite power a hard drive!!!! There is a way around it which does work but its a work around.

I bought from a local supermarket a car accessory (cigarette lighter) to USB that provides the 5V at 500mA to power the drive, then some drives come with a Y cable. One of the USB connectors on this cable is just for power only which plugs into the adaptor mentionbed above the other (power and USB data) plugs into the the Pioneer unit.

I tried this and got it working, the only problem I have now is the drive needs to be unplugged and plugged back in upon powering the head unit up as its not recognised on boot up. Someone has also mentioned upon putting a delay on timer into the power circuit so that the head unit has had chance to part boot before the drive is powered preventing these issues.

Hope you have the same success as me!

  2. I receved an interesting email today from Pioneer, it reads:-

  3. Just an update from this end!

I experianced a lack of TMC after installing a version of exrider and 2009 maps so put my F900bt back to standard to get the TMC back. This had the undesireble effect of killing my Bluetooth once more, even after removing all the files in the two offending folders the bluetooth failed to work giving the Not found issue many have experienced and lack of connectivity to phones, I then did the Bluetooth Software Update (this time to 2.9) and wayhey! It now works!

Its worth bearing in mide it may be the corrupt settings or software that causes bluetooth issues!

    :D

  4. As the title says I`m after a full backup for an European f900bt so I can try and get my headunit stable again. There are loads of US backups about but none of European units has anyone got one I can borrow?

The reason I want it as my Bluetooth no longer works and I have been quoted £125 + VAT (@15%) for a repair! The unit shows a current bluetooth software version as "not found" and thus I guess corrupt! I have tried to update but it refuses to complete the update and I`ve tried to manually install firmware, but upgrading to V 2.009 firmware has prevented me booting to the Windows CE screen and using Testmode!

Not only problems with Bluetooth but also intermitted rebooting and loss of audio from my Ipod. I`m so peved with it I`ve put my standard Sony head unit in with a Nokia handsfree unit so I dont get caught by plod!

  5. Hi Gareth!

I contacted Pioneer uk and they said as it was out of warranty (by a couple of weeks!!0 I'd need to speak to one of their uk repair agents! and a list was available via their website! (Useful as a chocolate fireguard as I though!), As I was in work and should have been working I looked on the site and found one company! sent an email to company called Advanced Elelctronics & Logistics (http://www.a-e-l.com) who answered that a repair would be £125 + Vat!!!

I replied to them to see what is covered and what warranty is applied to the repair and what firmware would be on the machine when it was returned (hopeing for V3 maps!?!) .

My unit now occassionally refuses to play my ipod and a reset is needed! and as I need hands free in the car I've put back in my Standard Sony head unit and nokia CK-7 hands free!

Seems to me that there are a lot of problems with the f series thats come back to bite Pioneer on the arse!

  6. I`m sorry if I`m covering old ground on this, but I`m having problems with my F900BTs Bluetooth. I`ve looked through the forum and none of the other fixes seem to do the trick!

It started a few weeks back when I noticed my phone (N95) wasn`t connected and no Blue led! I checked to see if the phone was connected and found the phone was greyed out so though no problem and deleted the connection and try to reconnect.

upon trying to reconnect using the "search Devices" option the head unit times out with a "Could not find any available phones" and the Blue led stays off (only ever flashes twice during boot up and at no other time), so though I`d try "search specific devices" but where the unit then would display a selection of various items the list stays blank!

I thought then at this point that maybe the Bluetooth firmware may need updating. so off to the Pioneer.eu website and downloaded the latest 3.30 software and onto a tested 1Gb card (i put the three files included in the update in the root directory). Tried to install the software and noticed that the current version listed as "Not Found", anyway I tried the update but it reported back very briefly "Updating Bluetooth software. Do not shut power off. Please wait" and then "An error occurred and the update failed" is displayed.

Tried then with the 2.90 update from pioneer and getting the same results. Since then I have updated the unit to 2.00009 (just came available in europe), but this still doesn`t solve by Bluetooth Woes!

I`ve emailed Pioneer Customer (Non) Support with my problems but have yet to receive any response from them!

Can anyone shed some light on my predicament?
