  1. Ok, so good news and bad news. On my unit the speedcams work perfectly. Over the posted speedlimit and there is a alarm sound. Under the posted speed, or if there is no posted speed it's just a small beep.

Which leaves us to your problem. Let's start by reinstalling with my original unchanged mods. Just get my 3.2.1 version and pick option 2 (from memory I think that is F500-US) and let it go and reboot when done.

From there switch just the speed cams to on and see if it works. If it does then great. If not then you might want to start a thread in the hacks section asking if people with 500's have seen this. From a code perspective things are working. We just need to find out why it's not working on yours. Maybe other 500 users can help.

Let me know how the reinstall goes.

Worked perfectly. To test without actually driving, I added a speedcam at the current gps position and was able to see the speedcam and speed limit straight away. However, during simulation the speedcam info did'nt change, even when the car icon moved. Guess speedcams won't work during simulation. Just wanted to mention, in case some one wanted to test the feature without actually driving.

Were you able to test the saved poi search, as that is another very useful feature to have, especially on the road?

Thanks a lot for all your help.

  2. Is the device type set correctly at the top? Also, can you make sure that the speedcam_enabled=1 flag is set? (both in sys.txt). Other than that you could try clearing the save files and see if that clears it up. I have seen stranger things happen. ;) The code is working so its either a mis config in the sys.txt on my part or something 500 specific.

Other than that we need to see if there is another F500 user that knows of something specific that needs to be done. I would be happy to include any changes that need to happen if that is the case. I know that IDT has an F500. You might need to start a thread if all else fails to see if people can chime in.

Yes, the device type was set to 749UC and speedcam_enabled=1 in sys.txt. I 'am not sure what you mean by flag is set in both? Which other file should I check? I know I did delete the save files because the intial location was shown in LA, till I got the GPS fix.

Also, when I press the Extr1 Menu->POI Menu->Saved POI Search, it simply returns to the map screen. However, when I go through Find Menu->POI->Saved Search, it works as expected. Is this feature tested or is it just me?

    Thanks,

    seeker

  3. So you clicked the enable speedcam option under warnings and got the legal disclaimer thing? Or did you go into the volume settings and enable the alert?

Yes, I turned on the speedcam option under warnings and did get the legal disclaimer. I also verfified that there is an alarm on the basic camera types. In addition, the speedcam volume along with master volume is also turned on under the volume settings.

I never tried the speedcam warnings on my device and was wondering if they even work on the F500.

Thank you very much for all your help.

  4. Hi Alex,

Installed the 3.1 mod on a F500 running FX3.0 and been testing for a week. Every thing works as expected. Overall, a great mod. You and your fellow modders deserve a big thank you.

However, I'am not getting any warnings (both audible and visual) for speed cams. I can see the speedcam icon (small black&white camera) on the map, but nothing happens when I approach it. It's the same in simulation also. I verfied that both audio/video warnings under the settings/warnings menu are turned on, master volume is not muted etc. I even tried setting the speed limit to 10 mph, but still no luck. I can add/edit speedcams, though.

Any idea why the cams are not working?

  5. For those who've been on here a while you'd have known that it's been a battle to figure out how to get the AVIC's to announce which side of the street the destination is on. When I was running the gurjon skin to my surprise it did announce left/right. I looked at my tts file and it had the codes for left/right so I attributed it to the upgrade which included a new tts file or so I thought.

After I stopped using the gurjon and moved to stanislovoich/andr2000 zip the destination announce was no longer there. Off and on for the last few months I've been reviewing this in hopes of figuring out how to get it to work.

I've finally figured it out. To get left/right via point/destination to work you'll need two things:

    1) a compatible tts voice file that includes the left/right commands. You'll know if your file is compatible if in the commands.csv file towards the bottom it shows left/right commands.

    2) In sys.txt add the following in the sounds section. If you don't have a sounds section add it in. Here it is as it appears in my sys.txt

    [sound]

    announce_viadest_side=1

Here's the tts file I'm running for samantha. I also have this posted in gurjon zip thread.

    download/file.php?id=7994

Let me know how it works. As a side note. If it announces the wrong side it's because of the map data.

Worked like a charm. I tested it on a F500BT running hacked 3.0, with 2009.6 maps. Thank you very much N-S-E-W for figuring this out.

  6.

AFAIK there's a setting to turn off the battery icon, so it's either you turn it off or you just comment it out in your navigatemap_800_480.ui,

I turned off the battery status in the menu and it no longer appears in the map window.

the current speed and elevation works that way, they are only visible when not navigating.

I would expect current speed/elevation to showup, wether navigating or not. It is very convenient to glance at the avic and know how much above/below the speed limit you are travelling. If it is not there, you need to check the car's speedometer to get the speed, which anyway is not as accurate as the gps speed. That said, can you please explain the reason for not showing current speed/elevation while navigating?

Multi route doesn't show option to show the routes on map. Nothing major like reboots/hangups, though.

are you using the scheme included in the download? i already fixed the schemes to show the routes,

I am not really keen on the multiplan and mentioned it only because I was concerned that I didn't install the mod correctly. Since most of it working as expected, so I can live without multiplan.

For the record, I did download the schemes and can see them in the map color schemes option.

i don't think so, check to see if your bluetooth is working though,

Basic bluebooth like, connecting/calling/phone book xfer works. I didn't test voice dial, but I assume it also works.

I noticed that your screen shots show car icon, instead of the default arrow. I didn't notice any option for changing the arrow to car icon, though. Did I miss something?

Finally, thank you for giving this great mod and taking time to answer my questions.

  7. Hi IDT,

I installed the 3.0 final version on a F500BT US model, but not getting the expected functionality. For starters, the mute and clear route buttons are overlaid by the battery status icon. Current speed/ elevation icons do not showup while navigating, but showup when stopped completly. Multi route doesn't show option to show the routes on map. Nothing major like reboots/hangups, though. Itried msn version, alternate version, regular version, formatted avic and reinstalled, but nothing fixes the issues.

Your mod mentions the device as 746 UC ins sys.txt, but I loose TTS when that setting. I changed that to 749UC and was able to get TTS working. Other than that, all the settings in the sys.txt of my device backup seems to be there in the mod. Can this cause the issues I have?

I didn't bypass my parking brake, as my unit is removable and I plan to complete the modding before installing it in the car. Could this be causing the issues I am facing? Any suggestions for fixing these issues?

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Hi David,

Thanks for a a great mod. I followed your instructions and copied all the files, but the map screen doesn't show the sky. I tried running the route simulation, still no sky. Other than the stock pioneer red/blue schemes,I can't see any of your schemes either. Also, the time icon doesn't toggle as you mentioned. Other than that, most of the mods seem to work.

I am running unofficial 3.0 with 2009.6 maps on a F500BT. Any ideas what where the probelm might be.

    Thanks in advance.

The latest data.zip should have the toggle working fine in navigation mode only, If your not in navigation mode there is not toggle.

Yea the schemes will show up, you need to make sure you unzip the main archive and then copy the schemes zipped into the scheme folder. If they are not showing up then either there not in the right place, the GFX folder is not in the right place or doesn't exist.

As for the sky, this is something that may be trickier to resolve. I had already setup original software using the 3d toggle to set the sky so I can see it, moving over to the new data.zip and sys.txt kept those settings. I have come to the conclusion that unless you start off with that setup then maybe trying to get to show with just the settings might not work.

I haven't messed with anything tonight, been busy racing with the wife on the Xbox 360. I'll get to it at some point shortly and work on it some more.

My bad. I copied the schemes file to IGo instead of IGo/content. Copied it to the rigth place and it is working fine now.

I have a Totom PND which shows time to destination, even if you are not naviationg. I assumed that it worked the same way in the AVIC also.

Once I selected the sky background, it showed up on the screen. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Or, does it change on it's own depending upon time/season/terrain?

Once again, thanks for a great mod. I really liked the expanded functionality, in addition to the expanded backgrounds.

  10. Update: I didn't get a stylus as a part of my avic package, so I assumed I can use my finger to select. I guess the icons are too small for finger touch. When I used a stylus (mechanical pencil with lead retracted), it worked and I was able to backup my device. It does work off the AC charger also.

Did every body a stylus as part of the avic package? Or, is it only me who didn't get one?

    :D

  11. Hi,

Iam trying to enter the testmode to backup my F500BT headunit. I read the sticky in Hacks on how to enter testmode and downloaded the zip file. When I boot my unit with testmode SD card, it copies the file ok, but when I press the X on the upper right corner, nothing happens. I tried the screen calibaration and rebooted with the same result.

I see in the sticky it is mentioned to turn on the engine to boot the unit. Is this necessary? Iam trying to boot the unit of a wall charger. Is this the reason I cant enter testmode? My unit's is running version 2.006. Will this version boot into testmode, or do I need testmode 2.3?

    Thanks in Advance.
