  1. What are APL2 and DATA folders for? Do you notice any difference after updated the two folders?

    thanks

APL2 folder is iGO application folder contains all the map data, application executibles and other required files.

Data folder is for Pioneer menu files; XM files, wav files for system sounds, and etc files. You don't really need to update this folder but personally, I didn't like the original (v2.006) system sounds.

APL folder is main Pioneer applications and launcher (media player, parriot BT app, and etc). I tried to update to v3 but it didn't work (didn't pass boot splashscreen on second boot). I'm guessing it requires new WinCE to work properly. oh well, new maps and navi s/w is better than nothing.. ;)

Also, I got a copy of new 2009.06.TA map today and I will try it out tonight.

  2. I updated the navigation s/w to 2009 with 2008.10 maps. It's working just fine.

However, the service information says the map ver. 02.000300 and firmware 2.00600. Do I need to upgrade the WinCE image as well?

    :Update

I copied DATA and APL folders from x910 dump and now it says firmware version 3.00300. Do I still need to update WinCE Image?? Is there any benefits?

    :Update2

I guess WinCE image update doesn't work. I tried several time to upgrade WinCE without any success. I had to roll it back to backup version and upgrade it again. Oh well, new navigation s/w and new map are more than sufficient for me.

    :Update3

I had to roll back the APL folder to v2.006. It does not work. It works first boot, the second boot hangs at splash screen.

    Thanks!!

  3. I just installed F500BT and grounding the p-brake didn't seem to work. I hope U310BT work... I don't want to get the relay and stuff for my U310BT. Will see...

Both the F500BT and U310BT can be bypassed by grounding the ebrake. However, while the U310BT will "just work" after that, the F500BT also requires a software patch. See this thread:

Thanks for the input... I guess I have some work cut out for me. :P

  4. Thanks MyITGuy!!!

I'm downloading as I post this... hehe.. Hope this works with my F500BT. :P

I searched this thread... but I didn't find anyone confirming that this update worked with F500BT... Is there anyone update w/this firmware and map update on F500BT!?

I just installed my F500BT today. I updated to latest free firmware (v2.006). I'm debating on purchaing version 3/2009 map update.

Previously, I used Garmin and TomTom on my PDA/Smartphone. F500BT, the navigation s/w very smooth (except touchscreen response time). Overall built-in Pioneer app is not too bad... :) for me at least.
