  1. So, I've got my u310bt all installed with the XM module, PAC SWI-PS steering control interface, hands-free talking to the iPhone... it all works fine... but the iPod-through-USB user interface is just horrific.

First off, is there a prescribed way to pause the iPod when it's playing? I've found that I can press the "Ctrl" software button and that seems to stop it (or at least mute it), but I can't imagine that that is the way they intended. Isn't there an actual "Pause/Play" somewhere?

Second, how do I easily scroll through the list of artists or albums. I've got several hundred artists on my iPod and, when I press the "List" hardware button and select "Artists", it makes me scroll from the top... and scroll... and scroll...

Now, when searching through my telephone contacts, there's a little button at the bottom that lets me quickly cycle through the alphabet to the B's, the C's, the D's, etc. Isn't there something like that for selecting artists? I've tried pushing and holding the "down" part of the dial, or spinning the dial fast.... nothing seems to fast-advance through the list.

    Help!

  2. So, I'm finishing up installing my new U310BT (and I am *so* glad I didn't buy it for it's navigation capability, or lack thereof). I've got almost everything all working: the XM radio module, the steering-wheel interface, the USB to the iPod. The only problem I'm still stuck on is that the hands-free mic doesn't pick up my voice.

I've got it plugged into the jack all the way. I've got the mic on the dashboard, about 20" from my mouth, directly in front of it. The iPhone pairs with the AVIC... and even transfers my contacts. But, when I tell the iPhone to use the AVIC as the audio source, the party I'm calling can't hear me.

Is there something I'm missing? Do I need to turn off or adjust the echo/feedback cancellation? Is there a good way to test the mic to make sure it's not broken? I've read that some other manufacturers' mics work better, like Garmin. Is there a quick and/or cheap source for getting one?
