  1. Good luck.

Haven't come here in months, yet your same positive, innovative attitude is still here...how refreshing.

Any, to the OP...I've got the same hopes you do, so it comes down to someone knowing how to write the stuff (maybe some of the geniuses over on XDA-Developers.com who write all the custom ROMs and Kernals and I use on my phone) and the willingness to do so. As far fatched as it may be, I'd love if my F90BT looked like this vs having to buy a Dynavin unit

  2. There are no hacks available or deemed possible for any section of these units except for the NAVI section and to a smaller extent the AV screen. Thats it, nothing else is likely to ever progress with these unit.

Yeah, we should probably just close the forums all together. Since you've answered ALL the questions anyone could ever ask, close out any chances to reply and/or ask questions and just force everyone to search in the F90 subforums...imagine all the potential space and time it could save from you having to say no all the time!

  3. for what? can you be more specific

I've yet to try it, but supposedly the 3.5mm headphone jack on the front of the F90BT is an A/V jack, so you can run both sound and video into there by going to AV2 on the screen of the stereo.

you also need an inverter box to power up your console.

Easy, $20 fix. I've been using a PS2 and inverter in my M5 for years, running to an old Pioneer CVA1005 and it works great. I've got a similar one in my X5, but since the F90BT can play movies, I mostly use it to power a laptop and then use my phone to provide WiFi for whoevers using the laptop.

Hmmmmm, I like playing video games more than the next guy, but I don't know if it would be safe driving while playing video games

Huh? Coming from another person who has a car stereo in their dash than can do GPS and movies via SD/DVD just like everyone else on these forums?! Just because it's in your line of sight doesn't mean you have to watch it. While I do watch movies on long 6+hr roadtrips (for those reading this, please save the flaming), I would never play games...but that never stopped my friends and/or kids in the car from doing it.

  4. The reaction time on the F90BT between touchscreen inputs is so slow, I can't imagine how well it would work for using OBDII software. I use an app called Torque on my Android phone, and then purchased a $20 OBDII reader via eBay...works like a champ and I can easily take it w/ me to test on other vehicles as well. Honestly, trying to incorporate this into the decks OS is more trouble than what it's worth.

Once the devs over on the Android forums get TV-Out working on my Samsung Epic, I'll be able to use the front A/V input and have it show everything that is on the phones screen from OBDII software, to GPS (which I used 10x more than the AVIC's GPS), videos (since the F90 doesn't like movies via SD), streaming music, etc.

  5. Thanks, I'll make sure to ask for an NTSC when I order

...and cover-up my prized WSU Alumni license plate frame - no no no ;) I've seen the same style without the plate frame mount, but the seperately mounted version would look to added on.

I've been actually looking at the two below, I'm just trying to determine their size for fitment and decide if CCD is really worth 2x the price for something I'll use maybe 3-4 a year since I only want it for backing to my trailer.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... OTORS:1123 - CMOS version

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT - CCD version

Some people have used this one below, but I've already got LED's in my license plate lights now, so I'm concerned that the size difference and possible color difference with the smaller LED will change the light output and make it look mismatched. Also, some have noted that they get a bulb warning error on the OBC with this style, but it is nice that it's compact and convenient.

  6. there is a video wire which you need to run al the way to the head unit, typically behind back seat, under carpet, through console...

then there are the power wires. If your backup lights are on the trunk like the license plate, tap power from them, so when it reverse the camera is powered. otherwise you will neet to run them from trunk lid to main body. That is where I am stuck. I want to power the camera whenever the car is on, so I cu enable it even when driving or parked.

What would be the use for enabling the camera while driving?

I'm looking around for cameras for my X5 and came across this little guy

  7. Month old thread or not, this subforum doesn't have a lot of movement. It was on the first page, I don't look at dates, and I replied. These decks are OLD and have been out for YEARS, so yes, It HAS been written about countless times. Great that you can do those things to your deck as I have as well. Sure, your post count isn't high, but it's an easy way to gauge someones activity, so no need to get offended.

I replied because it didn't have responses, so I was attempting to help you by telling that the information is there because I've looked for the same thing myself when I was also discussing options between SD, HD and iPod options since I don't have an iPod. Even with optimized file conversion settings and file types (the few times that I've doen it, but I've gotten from here), the SD card can sometimes still playback choppy video, my PAC is delayed and overreactive to single inputs, some videos don't fill the screen as I'd hoped, but they all play regardless.

FYI - Every movie I've either downloaded via eMule/www.sharethefiles.com or ripped from a DVD using Fair Use 2 they play just as I mentioned above. I've played DVD's, but I'm not about to go buy more. I've considered buying an iPod since basically everyone says that's the easiest way to go, but in the meantime I'm waiting till dev's for my phone get the TV Out option working so I can stream music, watch videos, navi, etc and have what's displayed on my phone also show on my stereo.

PS - Next time I see one of your threads go unanswered, I'll let your thread die off...per your request.

  8. I can't remember what page the information was on, but how do we make changes so that then boot time is faster? It was something like not having the OS recheck itself at each startup of something along those lines. I appreciate that the volume knob still works when I start the unit up right away, but it seems that bootup times vary, sometimes going straight to the main menu and othertimes showing the menu but saying that I need to wait while it's still loading. I don't understand why it's so inconsistant, but even if, is there any harm in it not rechecking itself everytime? I'd like to be able to car on the unit, have it fire up in like 10 seconds flat and be off and running vs starting the car, opening the garage, pulling out and being down the road to the stop sign before I can finally start making inputs.

  9. Teiva, the problem is that you're a new user and these questions have been answered in nauseum. Youre better of doing some reading around instead of jumping right in and asking questions as most simply won't reply to this type of topic...again. It was play just about anything you put in it, you just need to know how. Open up a browser that can do tabs well, start browsing down the list of replies and just start opening multiple windows. If you've got questions beyond that, revive a thread instead of starting a new topic...keep the house clean.

  10. So I purchased this for going from the phone to the TV - http://cgi.ebay.com/New-3-5mm-jack-3-RC ... 19bf969be6

Now I should purchase this to go from phone to AVIC? - http://cgi.ebay.com/6ft-3-5mm-AV-Mini-P ... 3a59d885ad If so, I had no idea about using a 3.5mm headphone jack for both audio and video until I got this phone, so that's pretty cool that a single connection can handle all that, nor did I know that's how the AUX2 input operated to receive video either.

  11. I realize that, but im going off McLovin82's idea of using the TV-Out option on my phone and using it as an A/V source to be displayed on the screen. For example, my phone also has DLNA, so as long as I have a DLNA device...PC, TV, etc., than everything on my phone can be played on the external screen of my choice. I've never understood why the stereo gives me a video warning when AV1 is the iPod input and AV2 is nothing more than a headphone jack on the front.

  12. This sounds promising, hopefully it pans out. FX3.1 was a great upgrade, but the unit still takes too long to initially start and has terrible lagging issues when watching movies via SD. If I'm reading this thread correctly, it sounds like an update to the WinCE that is on the deck now, which could probably use some speed tweaks.
