Now my splash screen, thanks!!
you're welcome. It really matches my interior for the 30 seconds it's displayed. What did you think about the embossing of the word "Escape". I'm thinking I should have gone with a fatter font?

You're Welcome This is why we join a forum. I was hoping some Iphone users would jump in and give their opinion (iphones ouput their display data via hardwire) . Sorry to hear about your upgrade efforts as well. All that risk, for so little reward is discouraging.

Well as long as your expectations are that it be a little better then your OEM then you should have nothing to worry about. Carry on.
LOL! I see what you did there. You sir are a Moderator.

Here's the splash screen I created for my X940BT using Photoshop and less than one-hour. The medallion is gray-scale tones with a texture overlay on a carbon-fiber background with some subtle embossing. This is my 4th attempt at creating something unique it tested out great on my unit ( scale and aspect ratio) and really looks fairly cool; but what do I know! I'd like your criticisms and comments.

I so wanted to use Dash Command before I scored my 940BT. I've come to learn that it won't work as nicely with the older Avics as it will with the AppRadio line-up. Dash Commands will display the data on your Phone or Tablet, but your Avic's display will need a direct connection with device running it. As for Album Art via BT that also negative. The interesting thing about the album art displaying is that it works fine with Pandora or Aha radio.

Getting prepared to install an X940 into a "05" ford Escape and since this is a DIY project I'm looking at everything related to the project. My unit was used so I'm uncertain about several things. One of these is that initially I'm not planning on using any other A/V source related to the auxiliary wiring harness , that being the case, do I need it to operate the unit?
UPDATE: OK it dawned on me that even if I don't use it for anything else, I'll need the Auxiliary Harness to do the PB Bypass.

LOL! My apologies then for my initial post. I was sensing a pattern with respect to line voltage irregularities with the various model Avic,s from the posts that I have read. Members will often report an issues with their units and then go silent without leaving any follow-up. It;s like a Cold Case File...I like mysteries, so I'm always looking for a resolution. Perhaps the Ipods Capacitance Controller is showing it's age?
-
generally, the unit has been mostly flawless since installed 3.5 years ago. I'm leaning towards an iPod glitch, since all other aspects of the 920 are still working
Ok. Perhaps I mis-read your post. The "source media" you refer to is confined to the Ipod and not your 920.

I don't have the experience in Car Audio to offer any real help. I do want to try to encourage forum members to participate in seeking solutions. Way to many post go unanswered here. I have read numerous post were a member has had a battery die or some other type of power line condition that has negatively impacted their units functions in various ways. Have you considered that Transient Voltage Spikes might be responsible. I would be helpful if other members could comment if they have used or have considered using Transient Voltage suppressors in their installations. I am currently considering, as I haven't installed my 940 as of yet (Still to cold out). It would be great if the Avic Community could contribute whatever thoughts and opinions they may have on these issues.

Maps for life (LOL) HERE@ mapping service was acquired via the Microsoft deal with Nokia last year. Although this sounds like a tasty bonus my gut tells me "It's a Trap"! On the other hand though....Mmmmm the Avic NEX looks so shiny.
-
Yeah, dont wire it like the guy above did. Connect the cameras power wire to the head units red power wire. That is the proper way to wire a reverse camera.
Excuse me if I bring this thread back fro the dead, but are you referring to AppRadio units specifically or is this "proper" for any reverse camera install ?

That's what I don't agree with, as a consumer purch[a]sing a brand new product from Pioneer, they should offer the newest update of the map. I do understand the product might have been sitting there for awhile, and what Pioneer should really do it's to offer the customer a one time free update to the newest map with a coupon or something like that. Now having to spend $600 or more on a unit, on top of that another $120 for the update just doesn't seem right to me.
Which is why (pioneer) won't ever consider using this business model. They know that they will lose money hand over fist! Mapping companies' licensing contracts being what they are. Pioneer can only hope AppRadio units can be competitive in a market saturated with navigation options. As for the Avic line up...I think we all know where this is heading.

Rumor has it... that you have to be in Australia for that particular update. I could be wrong.

Has anyone successfully used an BT headset with their Avic Systems in place of the wired microphone? The question has nagged me for a while and since I haven't installed my 940 as of yet I'm curious about doing this.

It is sort of nice to see the freeway lane on the other side turn red when you see their traffic slowing to a stop!
I was mildly confused about your post until I realized that the 950 is equipped with a Traffic Tuner. Is it safe to assume that it allows for augmentation of older maps only within the range of sensors?

...What about my burner? Is it okay if i use ashampoo 14? I kind of like it and it was easy to use for me, but what about burning quality and succes rate? Is it good enough?
Also one more kind of stupid question, as i have read. cndv-110mt maps has also the system package inside? Not only the maps? Or im wrong?
Your burner software is the least of your concern at this point. Verify that the drive functions first. If you can't play any disc-based media with the drive this will confirm that your problems won't be solved with the Map Disc not matter watter media they're on.
-
You're welcome. I'm assuming that the seller didn't provide you with the original Navi map-disc, and if I'm not mistaken you're stating that NO disc based media will play. The unit very well could have issue with your disc formats, but you might want to consider that your drive could have failed, even if the unit reports that it's "reading." What troubles me most about your post is why did you even consider loading newer maps on this system before verifying that the original ones were functional! (Sorry had to get that out... it just collects if I don't )

Any help is greatly appreciated.
What's new! Any report on un-muting your system.

The first thing that comes to mind is WTF! I'm fairly certain that you've had it installed for a at least a month, your wiring couldn't have been that bad. You've rechecked all of your grounds right?
-
Psssst! Hey buddy sounds like you could use a clue.
-
FYI Apple maps does the same thing so there must be a logical explanation as I have seen several different navi apps do this.
Indeed. I was thinking about antenna positioning ,signal strength, VSS wiring as possible causes. Like most AVIC owners I'm always awed/pissed at how much better our phones are compared Avic units. Still it would be nice if we could actually explore this issue. I've heard good things about better quality GPS antenna's.

How about an update?

It seems these forums are less popular these days. Although I haven't experienced this problem with my 940, I'm curious about how you resolved this issue or have you?

Hmmm. A new, unused map and BT software update complete on a SD card for less than the vendor price and they have a small supply for sale via ebay. Yeah I would definitely jump all over that!
