2013 European Map Update for Pioneer AVIC-F10BT, F20BT, F920BT, F9210BT, F9220BT At NAVTEQ maps
Thanks; however, I am waiting for the US / Canada maps to be released.
-
Yes, likely will be a 2013 maps update for these units. I think EU update has been released, but US release usually comes later (like aug/sep)
Right on - I hope something comes out soon. My nav is essentially useless running the 2012 maps.
-
Will Pioneer release any further updates for the x920 - x940 units? I'm assuming no, but it would be nice to be able to keep the maps up-to-date.
This is my first Pioneer GPS head unit - can anyone with previous experience comment?

This was just announced today: http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/08/pioneer-announces-iphone-5-connectivity-kits/

With the Apple adapter everything works except video and App Mode.
Confirmed this yesterday. When you plug the Apple cable into the Pioneer cable and then into the iPhone 5 the Pioneer apps just show the connect image.
-
I have a friend with an adapter and iPhone 5. Going to try it on my x920 (upgraded to x940) today and see what happens.

FYI I'm running the ASWC with an x920BT. My Hummer H2 has a "preset" button which jumps through the radio presets just as it did with the factory HU. With the ASWC it works exactly as you describe which is exactly how it worked from factory.
Great unit, no lag for me.
-
set shuffle to "on" on your iPhone before you plug it into the HU - it pulls whatever the iPhone is set to when you plug it in.
-
I am using the ASWC in my HUMMER H2 with great success. Works exactly like the factory HU did. ASWC plugs right into the AVIC and a harness into the AXXESS adapter for chimes, etc. Done.

Thats already been discussed in this thread. No one has those abilities at this time.
I was responding to Keith who indicated compatibility with his x920 (upgraded to x940). Simply clarifying.

After a couple of hours I figure out how to do the update my avic-x920bt to avic-x940bt, my only problem now is I can't get any app mode to work. When I click on app mode I get a black screen with only 5 pioneer icons on the right from top to bottom. It wont show me any of my iPhone apps.
Go into the iPhone app store and install the Pioneer AppRadio app. Launch it on the phone while in the view you describe on your HU.

My lightning cable adapter finally arrived today and I verified that it does indeed work on my X920 (upgraded to X940 firmware).

So your iPhone 5 functions with the head unit just like the 4s did? You have full use of advanced app mode, video out, etc?
-
I have the ASWC hooked up with my x920BT in my Hummer H2 - it recognizes all the wheel commands including the OnStar button which now activates both OnStar and the voice command on the HU... I don't use that button. lol
I believe you can even manually override how the ASWC interprets the different buttons.

I'll be watching this space closely - hopefully Pioneer comes out with a new cable / firmware / something that works with the existing HUs.

I was displaying a map and pressed both the mode button and then the home button. Neither showed a slider and neither dimmed the brightness of the map. My headlights turn on automatically when the ambient sunlight dims and they were on. When the headlights are on, the tail and parking lights are also on. I think I read that it could be an issue with the orange-white wire - maybe it's not connected to the right wire in the car). I didn't install it so I'm assuming that it was installed correctly. It is a little annoying for the map to be so bright at night but not terrible. Quite often, my arm is in the way so it doesn't shine in my face, but it is a bright light and can be a little distracting...
sounds like your radio wasn't installed correctly - the fix is pretty simple if you are willing to take your dash apart and splice into a wire in your car. The illumination wire on the deck needs to be hooked up to +12v when your headlights are on (any interior light that comes on with your headlights would work) - just splice it in and voila!
in the meantime, hold down the "mode" button for 5 seconds or so and a menu will come up with a brightness slider that you can manually adjust.

This is great, I think I will try and upgrade my x920BT this weekend.
Curious why the testmode and hex editing is necessary? Going from x920BT software to x930BT software was as simple as putting the files on to the MicroSD card and starting the unit; why is this so different?
-
If memory serves, on the x920BT, you hold down the "mode" button until the brightness adjustment comes up. If not the mode then it's the "home" button.
-
iPod out no longer supported means that you cannot use the Pioneer deck to control your iPhone / iPod. Audio out will still work, but the deck will no longer be able to display apps, etc.
-
the "upgrade" will be done via software. X920BT and X940BT are similar in terms of hardware. When the update is released for the X940BT you will be able to install it on your X920BT and have similar features.
-
is the 920 new? if not, you might have to unmute the GPS in your audio settings.
-
I have mine mounted under the dash right now below a thin piece of trim plastic - I find the GPS is not accurate for the first few KMs until it figures out the calibration.
In my previous truck, I had the GPS receiver right on the dash and was always accurate. I'll be pulling my dash apart again to relocate the receiver above the dash.
-
You can also hold the "mode" button for a few seconds to access a brightness / display settings screen. You can manually turn down the display brightness from there. Key things to hookup is the bypass mod and your illumination wire. I wired my illumination wire into a wire in my center console (shifter position lights) which get +12v when the headlights are on. Works great.
-
That is software and should be available on the X920BT when the X940BT update is released.the biggest reason I am thinking about upgrading my X920BT to the X940BT is the AHA Radio & Pandora support for android...
-
you are able to run the X930BT firmware on the 920 and we suspect that the 940 firmware will work as well when released.
Iphone 5 Cable?

Has anyone tried this option yet? It seems like a ridiculous solution to get the iPhone 5 working with the x920BT / x930BT / x940BT.
I want to be able to use my iPhone (again) in AppRadio mode to provide GPS features to my head unit. The maps in the 2012 update are basically useless in my area.
