  1. According to page 2 of the manual that is the cable you need.

Has anyone tried this option yet? It seems like a ridiculous solution to get the iPhone 5 working with the x920BT / x930BT / x940BT.

I want to be able to use my iPhone (again) in AppRadio mode to provide GPS features to my head unit. The maps in the 2012 update are basically useless in my area.

  2. With the Apple adapter everything works except video and App Mode.

Confirmed this yesterday. When you plug the Apple cable into the Pioneer cable and then into the iPhone 5 the Pioneer apps just show the connect image.

  3. FYI I'm running the ASWC with an x920BT. My Hummer H2 has a "preset" button which jumps through the radio presets just as it did with the factory HU. With the ASWC it works exactly as you describe which is exactly how it worked from factory.

Great unit, no lag for me.

  4. Thats already been discussed in this thread. No one has those abilities at this time.

I was responding to Keith who indicated compatibility with his x920 (upgraded to x940). Simply clarifying.

  5. After a couple of hours I figure out how to do the update my avic-x920bt to avic-x940bt, my only problem now is I can't get any app mode to work. When I click on app mode I get a black screen with only 5 pioneer icons on the right from top to bottom. It wont show me any of my iPhone apps.

Go into the iPhone app store and install the Pioneer AppRadio app. Launch it on the phone while in the view you describe on your HU.

  6. My lightning cable adapter finally arrived today and I verified that it does indeed work on my X920 (upgraded to X940 firmware).

So your iPhone 5 functions with the head unit just like the 4s did? You have full use of advanced app mode, video out, etc?

  7. I was displaying a map and pressed both the mode button and then the home button. Neither showed a slider and neither dimmed the brightness of the map. My headlights turn on automatically when the ambient sunlight dims and they were on. When the headlights are on, the tail and parking lights are also on. I think I read that it could be an issue with the orange-white wire - maybe it's not connected to the right wire in the car). I didn't install it so I'm assuming that it was installed correctly. It is a little annoying for the map to be so bright at night but not terrible. Quite often, my arm is in the way so it doesn't shine in my face, but it is a bright light and can be a little distracting...

sounds like your radio wasn't installed correctly - the fix is pretty simple if you are willing to take your dash apart and splice into a wire in your car. The illumination wire on the deck needs to be hooked up to +12v when your headlights are on (any interior light that comes on with your headlights would work) - just splice it in and voila!

in the meantime, hold down the "mode" button for 5 seconds or so and a menu will come up with a brightness slider that you can manually adjust.

  8. the "upgrade" will be done via software. X920BT and X940BT are similar in terms of hardware. When the update is released for the X940BT you will be able to install it on your X920BT and have similar features.

  9. I have mine mounted under the dash right now below a thin piece of trim plastic - I find the GPS is not accurate for the first few KMs until it figures out the calibration.

In my previous truck, I had the GPS receiver right on the dash and was always accurate. I'll be pulling my dash apart again to relocate the receiver above the dash.
