  1. I installed my Z120 a few months ago. Didn't have any problems at all with the BT, it worked perfectly.

Recently it turned into junk (same phone, nothing different). I disconnected the phone, waited a day or so and paired it up again and it still stinks. I can only hear every 3rd or 4th word and my callers tell me I sound like I am far away.

Will a new mic solve this problem? I am considering selling the radio because of this issue. I will gladly pay more money for something that doesn't look as cool but functions 100% of the time.

  2. VB, the cable in the link only has two rings. Where can I get the 4 ring cable, is it a Pioneer only thing?

Also, I am getting audio but I need to use both the 30pin AND the headphone jack. If I buy the 4 ring cable, will this eliminate the need for the 30 pin?

  3. The only way I can get mine to work was to use both the 30pin USB along with the 3.5mm out. I've got to have both wires hooked up in order to get any sound from the ipad thru the speakers.

Had I known this, I would have gone with a different head unit!

  4. What does your owners manual say?

Ya know, between Google and the owners manual, there isn't really much need for this site. When you think about it, with YouTube, Google, the owners manual and the entire www at our fingertips why even come here any more? All hacks are on YouTube, all information regarding mods are on Google and Jesus help you if you ask a question you'll get "spoon fed", "google" and "owners manual".

Next time I post I'll be sure to include how to get Android OS to take over the Z120BT. Oh wait, you can get that on Google. My bad.

  5. I went to BestBuy, spoke to a manager and he agreed to look at my radio for free to get me an accurate estimate. Turns out the adapter that was needed for the Chrysler has it's own volume setting, it was turned all the way down. Thirty seconds later he is putting my dash back together.

When I asked him how much, he said "Don't worry about it, it's all good." I handed him some money, he was refusing it and I put it in his hand ($40). While I am backing out, he comes to the car and hands me $20 back and laughed. He said it was too much.

    Some people are incredibly cool.

  6. I purchased a real Pioneer wire (not off of ebay, from a legit source). It has two wires, I female USB and a input like the headphone jack.

When I hook up the IPAD to the 30 pin USB, I get no sound. When I use the other input wire (for headphones) I get no sound. I need to use both the 30 pin USB and the input wire to get sound from the IPAD to the headunit.

I tried going into settings and changing it from video to ipod and etc but nothing works.

Do I need a new wire that is IPAD and IPOD compatible?

  7. After downloading and upzipping the file 5 or 6 times (and putting it on the SD and formatting every time) I got it to work. Didn't do anything different, just kept formatting the card and moving the file over to the SD and installing into the radio. Finally it worked.

I am using a factory Pioneer mic and not having any of the issues other people are talking about. It sounds crystal clear and works perfectly. It's actually the best BT I've ever used.

    Blackberry Curve

    Iphone 4

    HTC Evo (Android)

    And some other crappy phone

    All are working perfect.

  8. OK here is what I did step by step and for some reason I can't get the Z110BT to prompt me for the password when I install the SD card. I am thinking it has something to do with the Pioneer download, it may be patched or something. I am using a 8GB card, and I have several of them trying to get different ones to work.

    1: I downloaded ShortFuse.zip

    2: I downloaded from Pioneer

3: I replaced both files with the ShortFuse ones.

4: I formatted the card as instructed.

5: Installed the card into the Z110 and it updated.

6: Downloaded the torrent and unzipped it

7: Formatted another card (absolutely nothing on it)

8: Installed the three files onto the card, Firmware, Update & CARDINFO

9: Put the SD card into the Z110 and ..... NOTHING.

10: Got the same card from steps 1-5 and formatted it.

11: Installed the three files onto the card, Firmware, Update and CARDINFO

12: Put the SD card into the Z110 and ..... NOTHING.

13: Formatted both cards AGAIN, downloaded the files AGAIN, installed and still can't get the Z110 to ask me for a password.

14: Just to see if it would work, I updated the BT profile to make sure the card reader on the Z110 was working.

15: Installed the 2nd BT update perfectly.

Please help me figure out where the problem is. I am using three different SD cards (8GB and 4GB) and downloading the files repeatedly to make 100% sure everything is working. I am following the instructions and the only thing I can come up with is the Pioneer download has been updated or patched.

  9. Need help, please. I am stuck.

I downloaded the first part and replaced the files just fine. Installed those without a problem.

I downloaded the torrent, unzipped it and installed it to the SD card. When I install the SD card it will NOT prompt me for the password. Yet I did the BT update just to see if it would work and it did (both of them).

Now I am trying to get the unit to ask for the password and it wont. Please help?

  10. Does anybody know of a good installer in SW Houston?

I just got my Z110BT and the guy did a junk install on my Chrysler 300. He said he needed more adapters, etc. The only reason I let him do the install was to make sure the unit worked. It's installed, sounds like crap (only using 2 speakers) because he didn't have the right plugs, adapters, etc. Now that I am satisfied it works, I need somebody to do the right install. While I did search google, everyone I talked to specialized in the Chrysler & Pioneer and just started a BS marathon.

So, do you know a guy?

  11. I am thinking of purchasing a Z120BT and had a few questions, I would appreciate your input.

1: Is the BT really that bad? I've heard horror stories and no fix is mentioned? Can I install a separate BT unit? I got an old Pioneer BTsomething that worked perfectly on my AVIC-D3

2: Is there a 3.5mm jack? I want to run the headphone wire from the iPad as an input?

3: Is there a wire that will charge & play the iPad?

4: I've heard lots of complaints and people calling it a "POS", should I get something different?

  12. I just took my truck to the service dept and the only thing missing was my CD book with about 20 or so music CDs. Not really a big problem as everything was copied.

Now that I am planning a trip, I noticed ALL of my CDs were gone for my AVIC D3. The only one I have is California. I am planning a cross country drive in mid March.

Does anyone have any CDs they can sell me? Don't care if they are copies, just so long as they will work. I need them all except for California.

    Please email me at MitchellMachine@gmail.com

  13. My D2 & BTB200 worked flawlessly with my Sprint Sanyo M1. Everything worked like a dream.

Now, I have the HTC touch and the phone can connect to the radio, the radio will not connect to the phone. Is there anything I can do to make these work? Software? Downloads? Resets?

The BT feature has spoiled me to where I am willing to give up a monster phone just because of the BT feature. I've had the HTC Touch for a week now and am in love. But I may go back to a palm pilot & Sanyo M1 if the BT can't be fixed.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance & God bless.

  14. It is definately worth the money. It will ask you if you want a new route. It will show you little 35 or 20 dots on the freeway to show you how fast the particular freeway is going.

I paid for a year, and I guarantee you that I am going to sign up again next year.

  15. Don't buy it, unless $$$ doesn't mean anything to you. Go to ebay, type in back up camera or reverse camera, then go to the cheapest one. It's about 10 or 12 bucks, looks like a black shot gun shell (about the same size too). I installed it in my truck, works perfectly and it's a lot clearer then the original Pioneer. We hooked them up side by side, and the cheapo cam was a LOT better.

  16. Can't find the link. But when you go to ebay, type in back up camera or reverse camera and then go to the cheapest one. It looks like a black shotgun shell with two wires coming out of it. There is a quarter in the photos to show you how small the cam is. Buy the cheapest one.

NO THE IMAGE IS NOT REVERSED! It's an actual image, not reversed! The Pioneer image was reversed! If there is a sign in the back, you can actually read it without being dislexic.

  17. I live in Southern California, I know where Disneyland is. I am still not over the high of having navigation, I use it if I go to 7-11 to get a Coke.

I put in Disneyland, and it is sending me 21 miles out of the way. I thought "Ah, the NavTraffic is saving me time, yep." Then I checked and there was no traffic. I hit fastest route, shortest route and they both came up with the same identical LONG WAY around.

For anybody living in SoCal: If you live in the IE and want to visit the Rat, you'd take the 10 or 60 to the 57 South and exit Katella or Ball and badabing you see the rat.

The D3 does recognize the 57 freeway, and even when I was on it, it was telling me to take the 60 east, then the 91 east, then finally surrendered when I exited Katella off of the 57. The entire trip, it kept trying to tell me to go the long way around. Make a u turn, get off here, go here no wait, back, take this exit, it was more annoying then my wife.

Then when we finally get to the Rat, my wife says "Well that was a thousand dollars well spent.". Same thing on the way home. I actually got on the 57 freeway headed North, then hit "Go home" and it still wanted me to take the first exit, and take the 5 north.

Even when it plans out your route, it shows you a dark wide red route on a large map. You can see the 57 cut straight south to your destination while the I5 goes our and around like a curve ball.

    Strange.

  18. I didn't want to pay over a hundred bucks for a back up cam. I figured I buy one of those $10 cams they have on ebay, not only because they are cheaper, but because they are a lot smaller. Figured if they dont work I am only out a ten spot.

It works! Better and clearer then the Pioneer cam! I asked the installer to let me preview both, and the cheapo one looked better and gave a wider angle!

So, if you are looking for a backup cam, no need to spend a lot of money, just go to ebay and type up "back up camera" and buy the cheapest one they have, it shows a pic of the cam next to a quarter to give you an idea how big it is.

Also got the ipod cable installed. LOVE! D3 navigation is fast, accurate and flawless. I don't have any vids in my ipod so I can't test that part out yet but I'll let yous know when I do.

If you own a D3, there is no reason to buy that expensive "box" from Pioneer. Just get the CDi200 cable and it will work PERFECTLY. Sound is great, volume is great, speed is good (not great, just good), searching is fast, can't complain on the ipod wire.

Is there a way to control the ipod from the ipod and NOT from the radio? When the ipod is hooked up it says PIONEER on the screen and will not allow me to do anything with the ipod, it's gotta be thru the radio. Any help is appreciated.

I'm so friggin glad I found this site! I would have been stuck with a D2 and would have had to pay for the info to bypass it.

Play around john.smith@xmradio.com, papa.smurf@xmradio.com, etc. Didn't try this, because I couldn't get a name right. Never thought to ask. Me am tarded.

FREE NAVTRAFFIC!!!! Use the first method as described above. Then tell them that you'd like navtraffic but it's too expensive, blah blah blah. They will give you three months for free! Once they add on the three months free, pay for the year (9 months) and you is done.
