  1. just got the backup camera today. ididn't do it thru cf because it was taking too long. but i called abt and they matched the offer from cf. so it works out either way. any ideas on where to put it? thanks

Depends what kind of vehicle you drive...somewhere facing the rear for starters.

  2. It only works in 45 or so cityies as of now. I know it works in Nashville, but I am only there a couple times a month and feel I know every backroad, so its not really worth it. Chattanooga is not supported. I believe XM's website gives more details.

  3. well how much should i be expecting for an install..i mean..if it does infact cost that much..than..there is not much else i can do, but if it doesn't..that's why i'm so stressed as to whether i should dish out that much money.

No offense, but if you're not comfortable drilling a hole, then you are probably better off dropping it off at a shop and letting them put it in.

  4. If you're lost, do you really know if you're going the shortest route? Personally, I don't use navigation if I know where I'm going and if I'm lost and it gets me to my destination, then it did its job and I am none the wiser. There are idiots out there who follow EVERYTHING a navigation tells them, even if it means turning the wrong way down a one-way street. I guess they forget that sometimes it is ok to use your own brain. Navigation systems are never perfect, especially in areas w/ tons of roads, etc.

  5. I went to CC a while ago. I took all the stuff with me: avic-d3, btb-100, sirius, harness, wiring, installation kit, etc.

I also printed out the nav install for $159.99 from their website (http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=163719&catOid=-16705&c=1&cm_re=firedog%20services-_-Roadshop-_-see%20details).

This is the quote I got from the CC guy:

    - AVIC-D3 Nav install - $159.99

    - Bluetooth kit install - $65.99

    - Sirius Radio install - $49.99

    - Ipod cable install to golve compt. - $16.99

I'm getting it installed this Sunday.

$130 to plug in a few cables? No offense, but geez.......

  6. 100$ is worth the headache? wow, and i thought i was anal. even $200 would be kinda a pain, to sit through waiting for auction to end, or buy it now, or whatever. not to mention the scams on ebay anyways.

I have my Paypal account set-up so it is almost impossible to get scammed. Also, wait for $0.10 listing days and set a BIN w/ Immediate payment required and buyers must have a confirmed addy and back-up funding or the PP account will deny them the ability to make a payment. I just sold 10 Virgin Mobile phones that I got for 75% off and turned a $30 profit on each one. It took me less than 10 minutes to snap a pic, write up a quick description and list the auction w/ a quantity of 10 and price them a buck or so below the lowest price on there. They all sold in a few hours and I automatically printed the labels w/ Paypal, threw the phones in free Priority boxes, threw in some Crutchfield peanuts and set them by the door for the mailman to pick up. All of this took less than 30 minutes. I don't make $600/hr so this was worth my time. I know this story veered off course, but to some, selling stuff on eBay is not a hassle and worth the extra couple of bills.

Shoot, I got $45 for my CD-IB100 and only paid $42.95 on Crutchfield. This deal was hot b/c I actually want the back-up camera and XM. The free install stuff and 50% off On Star interface through CF was also a nice bonus.

  7. I really want to do this and order the D3 but I really dont want nor need the other radio. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could do? I wanted the bluetooth, but it is sold out. Does anyone know when the newer version is coming in?

Buying the other radio isn't wprth it IMO just to get a free $30 Ipod cable. Profit from selling that HU on eBay looks to be less than $30, so you are better off just buying that cable separately.

  8. Well I just e-mailed them about the $30 XM gift card. I didn't want to keep calling back all in the same evening. If they say no, I will try calling in for another CSR tomorrow to get the gift card. I wouldn't push your luck w/ the Ipod adapter, since it appears to be a site error and should technically not be included.

  9. Yup. I initially added it myself, then I added the 4900i radio, and it came up with a second ipod connector, but the second one was free. So then I just deleted the first one which was 29.99, and it still showed the remaining free one.

Well I just called and they said a camera would be in the mail tomorrow. I decided not to push my luck w/ the Ipod connector or the $30 gift card. I guess I could just place a whole new order, but then I have to deal w/ the hassle of returning the whole first order.

  10. I am trying to avoid buying an IPOD just for clean integration and want to be able to connect my Sansa e270 to my D3. I know Pioneer makes a USB connectivity kit, but how will the content from the Sansa be displayed on the D3? I found a Pioneer aux. connector at Target that uses a set of RCA cables and a BUS connector and then hooks into the headphone jack of an MP3 player, but I'm just not sure how easy it would be to navigate through the content on the Sansa if I used this...or if it even compatible w/ the D3. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  11. I woke up this morning and checked my order status...seems like its being shipped today afterall.

    Very strange though.

I just talked to CF's CS and they confirmed that it'll be shipped in morning shipment batch.

The website still shows out-of-stock, so i guess they finally did find me avic-d3 unit after all that bitching and complaining and calling them 3-4 times a day. :)

I'll be installing it in my 07 camry next weekend.

Told you they would ship more out today...

  12. Risko:

you dont understand, man....this is what we live for!

I did 'Find a store' search @ Pioneer Electronics website (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/dealer/locator/results/0,,2076_310069583,00.html) for AVIC-D3 and called the closest store in Massachusetts (i.e. CD'S ACQUISITION, INC.). They have D3 in stock.

I asked them if they can do a price match of $850 and told them that i'm getting that deal from crutchfield.com. They told me they'll do price match only if I have it installed from them.

So I think I'll just buy it from them and have it installed over the weekend.

    Screw CF.

    Cheers!

i went with abt last night. but it was really a hard decision tho because i really like cf. they are world wide known. and their support is bar none. but who knows when they will get a new shipment. especially with the way that people have been ordering them like hot cakes.

i got it for 950 and im planning on getting the warranty as well.

not much of a drop off.

My bet is that your install charge increases by $150. I can't believe how desperate some of you guys are...guess its like those kids that wait in line for days on end for some stupid Nintendo console. Need it, want it, got to have it NOW NOW NOW!

Do you know anything about this shop that has them in stock? I personally would do some research first before I take my vehicle anywhere. Just b/c they have the D3s in stock, does not mean that they are competent installers. Did you get a quote in installation? As I have mentioned before, Electronic Express has these in stock for $848 and they are an authorized retailer w/ 15 B&M locations in Middle TN, not just some fly-by-night website. I live for this stuff too, but I don't think its worth rushing into and making a bad move, especially since its close to $1000 we are talking about. I guarantee Crutchfield will have more of these in the next couple of days, possibly even tomorrow.
