  1.

sorry to burst your bubble but WebOS will likely die now that HP has discontinued their systems

Tell me about it. Never had a cell phone for longer than 10 months. I've had this one since July '09. Over 2yrs! It'd be nice if they do manage to shop the OS license to HTC or Samsung though...

I admit though, I really am looking forward to placing that order on the Motorola Photon.... ;)

  2. Been a couple months now, did we get a firmware update for the F series with the 2011 update, or did we only get maps?

I've been running the FX3.1 rom for a while now and would like to see what Pioneer's been up to... especially since I was certain the F series wasn't ever going to see a 4.0 ROM.

  3. first posting here after long time but have to say that Android requires 1GHZ processor and minimum 512 ram to work properly.so this "android" going on the avic is really out of the question

In what world is that? Maybe Honeycomb has those requirements but 2.1/2.2 etc don't.

    Case in point: HTC Hero

    528MHz

256MB RAM (133MB available for user storage)

    Samsung Moment:

    800MHz

    512MB (253 available for user)

And those arent' the only ones below 1GHz. Let's not forget items like the Archos 5 and Nook Color.

Driver (lack of) support is the issue. Personally, I'd love to see webOS ported to it. Now THAT would make an incredible car system.

  4. F-series model: F700BT

Phone make/model: Palm Pre (minus, Sprint Original Model) PEWW100

Ease of connection: Smooth. Pretty sure a half brain dead zombie could do it.

    Phone book transfer: Flawless

    Sound quality: Excellent

Comments: Pairs just like the instruction manuals say. Phonebook transfer is quick. Routinely get asked if I'm still on the line due to lack of noise if I'm not talking, even while doing 80 in my 1995 Accord. I am using a different microphone than the Pioneer OEM. All functions work, including Network; Battery; and Signal Strength indicators on the Phone menu. As a note (unsure if it is an issue with the radio or actually some incompatibility), turning of the car while in the middle of the call will hang up the phone instead of transferring the call to the handset. Ditto that for manually transferring the call to the handset from the phone itself.

  5. I've loaded a FX3.1, even munged around with Abbs' 4.0; but I'm still learning some of the terminology here.

So, here's the stupid question for the thread... Does this work on a F700 as well, or only the 900/90's?

It always seems to me that they are the same firmware, just loads drivers for the DVD drive and MSN tuner on the 900/90BT.

  6. I think it sad that a multi-billion dollar company like Pioneer can not even keep up with Google Maps for their own $120 map update.

Oh well, maybe the 2011 or 2012 update might include road data from 2009 !!

You do know that Pioneer has nothing to do with the maps, other than paying for a redistribution licence and packing it on an SD card for retail, right? If your maps are wrong, complain to TeleAtlas or Navteq, they're the ones that make the maps.

    Have at it.

  7. I've been using FX for the last two months on my 700BT, everything you mentioned also is working fine on mine. I only have to reset the illumination, etc; if I hit the reset button.

The on thing I wish I could figure out though.... the mute/attenuate option for the navi voiceover is always greyed out and stuck on MUTE. I really want it to only lower the music volume for TTS, not mute it totally. Anyone have ideas on that?

  8. Great work on this. It's great to have an All-in-One image that I can load into a machine almost like a factory upgrade.

As a note, I have a full download of the .rar file that I have been seeding for the last week. I'll keep it semi-permanently seeded for you all. I have my upload speed capped at 50KB though (can't be messing up my Warcraft playing now, can I? ;)

Just make sure that you're using the torrent file from the first page; the same one I'll link below.

And do us all a favor. Once you're done leaching the file, please seed if you see less than 4 other seeds. Since a lot of you don't seem familiar with Bittorrent, etiquette is to seed a 2.0 ratio. In other words, if you downloaded 1GB of files, seed out 2GB.
