  1. Okay, so after a few calls and getting nowhere over the weekend, I finally cracked the code

You can renew at the $77/yr rate, but you cannot do it through the regular call center because they will tell you till they are blue in the face, that it is only available as a one time promotion.

What you have to do is when you call about the renewal and they tell you the new regular rate $142.??, you make mention of cancelling your subscription because you can't afford it, or it's too expensive or something to that nature.

IMPORTANT - When the CSR asks you if you are thinking of cancelling, say YES. Don't tell any stories, don't hem and haw, just be straight to the point and let them know that you find the full priced rate to be too expensive. They will then transfer you to a different department.

Once you're in the second department, you will be asked again why you are cancelling. Tell them the same thing. It's almost like the CSR's are reading from a script and feeding you lines. Go with the flow  The calls are recorded, so they cannot legally offer you alternatives up front. They have to ask you questions. In order to keep you as a customer, they will then start the bargaining. They will offer you a yearly subscription at half price. This is the $77/yr rate. In my case, that's just what I wanted, so I said YES. He immediately thanked me and started changing my account to reflect that my first radio will be renewed at the same rate as it was last year.

    It's just that simple.

Now, from all the research I've done, I've found that it's the US call center(s) that starts the process. When you get transferred to the second place that helps you out with rates instead of cancelling, it's mostly overseas; in my case it was Jamaica.

I've seen a 90%-95% success rate using this number 1800-347-0600 during business hours.

I called 1877-228-9058 more than ten times over the weekend and ended up in three different call centers; Phillipines, India and Trinidad. All calls were denied renewal at the promo rate and 7 out of those ended with me saying "well I guess I'd like to cancel..." and the CSR saying "okay". No bargaining, no transfer to the cancellation dept.

Bottom line, don't call the 877 number, call the 800-347-0600.

At the start of my call this afternoon, I had two radios on the account. 1 My truck (up for renewal) and 2 my wife's truck (3 yrs free). I also had a $35 credit because of a billing adjustment from last year.

I added a radio for my motorcycle (#3) and got that at the $77/yr rate. So after all was said and done, I should have had to pay $77 for #1 renewal + $77 for adding #3 - $35 credit = $119 for two radio's for one year...not so!

The guy was so helpful and admitted that he was doing this because I was so cooperative on the phone, that he credited my account $50, so that put me at $69 total for two radios with a one year subscription :!: Plus of course the wife's 36 month free service

    Thanks XM

    Worked perfectly!! Thanks.

  2. I just updated my Z2 to a Z3 the other night.

Is AFMagnum still updating the first post? If so, it might not be a bad idea to mention the upgrade can be done for as low as $4.97 IF you don't care about losing your music library. HDD Unlock Wizard will unlock the drive for just $4.97, but will wipe it clean. I know this info is available if you search, but it would be nice to have it in the first post for those who are using the first post as a reference. There's no reason to spend the $42 if you are upgrading a new old stock Z2 or if you don't care about having to redo your music library.

    Great point. Updated...

  3. Sorry guys, no image yet but I'm still communicating with a number of folks who have access to a Z3.

If anyone else out there thinks they may be able to provide the image, IM me; we'll get it tested and out to the forum members.

  4. Is anyone working on this yet? I know its still pretty new but you guys blow my mind with how fast you come up with the mods. I am looking forward to upgrading my Z2 to the Z3..

I believe multiple people are working this, including myself. Hardest part is getting a fresh image from a Z3 to play with. It's coming, watch the stickys at the top of this section...

  5. IF someone gets a Z3 image they want to put up to share, PM ME, I'll open the FTP back up, I KNOW there's going to be a LOT of people out there wanting a Z3 as opposed to a Z2

I think the bigger issue is to know if the Z3 image disables the by-pass. I'm working to get the image to do some testing. If all goes well, we'll get it on the forum ASAP!

  6. That's great news Chris, just let me know when you're ready.

I don't know what BigFloppy sent, but he's been hosting the Z2 Bypass image from the beginning so he has A LOT he can pass on. I would take everything he says to heart when setting up your own server.

  7. That's awesome! Thanks for helping out. BigFloppy provided a HUGE service to us all and donated bandwidth for more time than we could have ever asked. Thanks again BigFloppy!

Chirs: With your permission, I can edit the Z1 to Z2 sticky with information about contacting you for access to the server, or would you rather they just search the forum for your info?

  8. What are you trying to do? Upgrade a Z1 or Z2? The navigation disks are actually a software upgrade for the Z1 which makes it identical to a Z2 with new maps, etc. The maps loaded on a Z2 are the latest and greatest that Pioneer has to offer.

These two stickies have a lot to offer on the subject as well as links to the Navigation Disk ISO:

  9. First let me say I am glad I found this forum. Second let me say, when I buy a product I expect it to work. All of it, not just part of it. Magnum, if your happy on all your purchases, to only partially work, I feel sorry for you. I wonder what song you would be singing if the shoes where changed and the things you bought it for didn't work like you expected! I bought this product for its Nav system, everything else was a bonus. I brought up this topic to the forum to see if there was anyone else with the same problem. I guess there must be! I also must say I found the support at pioneer very friendly and helpful. I would just like some feed back and honesty that they are going to look into this problem and a time span on correction. No different than the freeze out issue.

I'm sorry F350, none of that was directed toward you. It was directed toward daveva who basically said the Z1 and Z2 are nothing more than a door stop then said this forum offers no support. I disagree.

As far as your nav issue is concerned, I understand completely your frustration and desire to document the issue with Pioneer. For me personally, I did a lot of research before buying the Z1 and knew it was not the most accurate navigation system out there, but it worked. I have the system for almost a year and I'm very happy. Most of that is due to the forum and through adding things such as the Bluetooth and XMNavtraffic.

I don't consider it to partially work. The navigation interface is great and eash to use (IMO). The routing could use some work because it has me go past my turn just to make a U-turn sometimes. Regardless, I rely on the nav system every time I need to find a business or address I've never been to and it always gets me there. Is it perfect, no. Am I happy, yes.
