  1. Does the Forum have any input on repairs advertised on eBay by Same Day Auto Audio Repair in Chesapeake, Va.? Original owner says cable has not been changed. Didn't think to ask if he registered it. The $200 is bad...but not as bad as losing the bypass permanently!!! Can't find it again (may be wrong), but seems like there was a post about someone getting a board with four contacts and no ideas on how to bypass it. Putting the radio back in and waiting 90 days for the warranty to expire, then bypassing would be a pain the butt but doable. Thanks, Jim
  2. It has been bypassed with solder, so I understand from postings that they charge $200 for the repair, correct? Are they going to replace the board with something that can't be bypassed and hit me for that too? Thanks
  3. Don't really know. I recently bought it from a member of another forum. Think that is the problem, even though it slides in and out Ok? Any fuse it could be?
  4. The screen on my N2 just went black when I tried to switch from audio to Nav. Everything had been working perfectly, I touched the Nav button and poof, nothing. The Cd is still playing and all the lights are working. The screen retracts and extends, and the panel displays CD info. I didn't find this problem with the search function so any help will be greatly appreciated. What could it possibly be?
  5. Just had to comment about the N2 navigation --- it is fantastic!! I had a piece of junk handheld that was totally worthless. I chose the Pioneer based on some reviews and postings, but I can't believe how good and useful it actually is. Very shortly into a road trip to Louisiana, The Navigator closed her road atlas and said, "I have been replaced..." (Unfortunately. she now spends her time watching speed limit signs and reminding me to slow down )
  6. Thanks for the info. I may have to give this a try.
  7. Looking at MP3 players and noticed that the Creative Zen allows showing a photo slide show and videos on your TV. Can this be done on the N2 using the video in? Not sure what use it would be , but it might help with a decision on the brand player. Thanks
  8. The N2 will memorize a 150 mile route so you don't have to recalculate unless you change routes. Switching the disk in and out is a pain, but the navigation in this unit is fantastic!! Sure wish the navi info was on a hard drive, but in traveling it is worth the inconvenience. An option is to use the MP3 player controls and play through the Aux. I'm about to buy a refurbed iRiver that holds 30 gigs. That should beat the heck out of the 12 disk CD changer I had to give up. And, hey, this site is great for info and help......
  9. Thanks, guys. I'm learning...slowly! Hope to get it installed this weekend.
  10. No, it is not a fuse. The harness (2nd bought over eBay after I got shafted on the first one) has a fuse downstream from this plastic 2-inch long, 1-inch square box. It will not open. Both the yellow and the black ground wires run through it. Any ideas anyone?

  12. What is the "box' on the N2 head unit wiring harness that the yellow and black wires run through? Is this some kind of filter, and is it necessary? Thanks,
  13. No empty slot for a missing wire. It has the blue connector and plugs into the N2. I taped off the speaker wires last night and powered the radio with the red and yellow leads... (Alive! It's Alive!!! ) I have been using the heck out of the Search but haven't tried posting a photo yet. I'll try getting a shot later in the day. Thanks
  14. I bought what was advertised as a new N2 power/speaker harness off eBay (yeah, I know!! ). The wires are chopped off to about 4 inches long. The install manual call for an orange/white wire with a fuse resistor to hook to a lighting terminal. This harness does not have such a wire. It has the large black ground, a smaller black, red accy, yellow hot, green brake, plus the mute, reverse, system remote, and the eight speaker wires.. I t won't be right without the orange/white hooked up, right? Any idea what this harness really is? Oh, this will solder to a Soundgate harness to use the f
  15. Man, this forum has great info for a noob, with a great search function. I've learned a lot by reading posts and searching I have just bought a used N2 and want to test it before installing. Dumb question of the day: is it safe to test the N2 with no speakers hooked up? Seems like I remember that it is not safe with HUs. Thanks for any help.
