  1. That is correct.

Guess I'll go order the module, a couple remotes and pray to baby jesus that my logic is sound.

I'll post the info from my installer on here tomorrow, and will update later this week with my own testing of this theory, and the VR programming.

  2. So the Axxess does now work for VR on these unit? I have never been able to get anyone to confirm that. And yes, the PAC SWI-PS plugs into the WRI-P and simply passes through the WRI-P to the unit. It is a simple 1/8 " connection with no circuitry.

The last firmware came out late last year. You have to manually update the firmware to support bluetooth and VR. I don't personally do the installs, so I will check with him tomorrow and perhaps test it later in the week.

Just to confirm, from the SWI-PS a 1/8 connection runs to the WRI-P with no additional connections between these two units? This would mean that the signal from the SWI-PS is readable by the deck, and gets sent to the SWI-P and the SWI-P simple piggy backs this signal to the deck, along with it's own signal from the IR if used.

In theory, the signal from the Axxess unit has to be the same as the SWI-PS, as the deck can only read a certain signal to imitate the steering wheel commands, therefore the output from both modules is the same and the input into the SWI-PS would also be the same from both units, and should be sent in the same manner.

    Sound legit?

  3. Does the Axxess work for VR on the unit?

I do not have it set up for this, but I work for an install company and they have setup VR for other customers using this unit. The first generation ran older firmware which wouldn't support this feature, while the newer firmware does. I'll confirm tomorrow for you tho.

You have the PAC modules? Do they connect to each other through a simple double sided minijack connection? Or is there circuitry attached to the other end of the miniplug joiner?

  4. Why are you using the Axxess in the first place?

It's what the installer put in my car a few months ago, before i researched into the Pac module. I'd rather save the hassle and plug the axxess into the pac module and be happy. It looks like it should work, I haven't found/heard of any reason yet why it would not.

  5. But it all depends on how the hub is going to be powered? Just through the one USB cable from the screen? I plugged in my ext 2.5" HD to the USB port but it only powers it up and I don't feel the disks spinning inside. I too am trying to find a compatible hub to power a portable hard drive. If you find a hub that is powered enough to take a 2.5" hard drive please let me know... dying to use my external HD in my car! My 500gb beats 16/32/64gb that's for sure!

Hello. I'm doing my install tomorrow. I will be running one cord from the back of my unit to the front for data, and then wiring in 4 USB cigarette lighter plugins, and flush mounting them to a panel in the car. Most hard drives support power from one USB and data from another. This is the best way to do this.

  6. Apparently it's in the common problems section. The pinned thread is far from an official stance on USB hubs, and generally speaking it comes down to the hub itself.

From a computer standpoint, you would need a hub that is driverless, and has passthrough detection as well as packet labelling. This will not be on "cheap"USB hubs.

I've ordered a USB 3.0 hub (backwards compatable), and these new hubs have a better identification and passthrough control. I'll post my results once it shows up.

  7. Hello,

I'bve got a z120Bt and was wondering if the USb port on the back supported a USB hub (powered from electrical system)

I've read a few threads that say it supports powered hubs but only one device at once, can anyone confirm this? I would need a HUb in order to have two usb for the hard drive. one USB that runs to a power plug and one for data.

I've also read the head unit supports USB hard drives, as long as they have power (to help spin it) and formated in fat32.

Is this correct on both accounts?

    Thanks,

    Brad
