  1. I had some trouble with this upgrade, but finally got it working today. I had previously ordered an updated drive from Garret and when I installed it the update would fail and it would eventually switch to cannot use HDD. I verified the drive on my pc and it had all the files, so I tried loading the image on my original drive (I had previously upgraded to a 40gb) and I had the same result. I was very reluctant to try my 40GB drive because it was the only one working so I tried a 100GB I had lying around and it worked, but of course rebooted because it's not a Toshiba. Finally, I loaded the image onto my 40GB Toshiba that I have been running and copied my data back over and everything runs fine! I now have two 30GB Toshiba drives loaded with Z3 images that seem fine when connected to a computer but they just don't play well with my unit for some reason.

  2. Just went for a short drive and everything seems to work fine, not that I had any doubt. I used method 1 and it works fine, but I am very impressed with the .iso for those that don't have unlocked drives! Once again forums have proved to be a great use for consumers around the world!

  3. Chane, you have the upfitter switches and Mike does not, I believe that is what you saw by the glove compartment, the relays for those switches are located there. My truck came without the switches, but I found a dealer that sells a kit for about 80 bucks to add the switches and I installed them myself.

  4. Hyperite, thanks for all your support to the forum. I used method 1 as I had already unlocked my drive and I had been running Z1 software on my Z2 until I got these files from you! I haven't done any driving yet but I am sure it will work just fine.

Careful.... I hope you reverted back to the original Z2 software on the drive first, otherwise you could be in for an interesting firmware update.

I appreciate your concern, but its all under control. I had a bad firmware flash once while switching between Z1 and Z2, and I learned that it's pretty hard to fubar it. I have been back and forth from Z1 to Z2 a dozen times now and I can do it with eyes closed. I have even managed to keep all my music from one to the other.

  5. I don't know what program is in my sprint ppc 6700, but I was able to select all and transfer all of my contacts to my Z1 and Z2. I loaded a custom rom that I got from PPCGEEKS which erased all the stock sprint software and loaded my phone with a package of much more useful stuff including much better bluetooth software and every program I need.
  6. It would be wonderful if we could all just compile a library on the forum. I have found the files and it's easy to see how to add more music. You only need the folder with the music and a couple database files and you can make it happen. I don't know what kind of trouble we could cause on this great forum though... it might not be worth the headache unless we do it privately.

  7. Well I wouldn't say all WM5 sucks. It is typical microsoft and usually requires some tweaking. The guys over at PPC Geeks forum make up custom ROMs for WM Phones. I put one on my Sprint 6700 and it works great! My phone is very stable and I am sure if a good developer were to play with a project like this we could get a lot of function out of these units.

  8. Well someone will have to provide me with directions for unlocking HDD, lets see if we can get this to work, looks like it has been a pain in the ass for everybody

If it does have tbe yellow dot I will NOT power it up until someone can tell me what to do

again... pray for the dot :!:

All the instructions are in the Z1/Z2 Hacks/Mods section, but it is somewhat complicated. It also costs about 45 bucks to unlock the drive without erasing it.

  9. I have in route a new Z2, Fedex tracking number 703927460022277 says it will be here tomarrow (holbrook NY)

If it has the yellow dot, let me know how and what files i can give to you guys for upload to allllll.....

We will pray for the YELLOW DOT :!:

    LOL

    Andrew

Well I believe you would need to unlock the HDD, but maybe you planned on that already. I may have heard some rumors that if you remove the drive before powering on the unit it could have been shipped unlocked, however this is very rare.

  10. ok from what im reading is yall plan to messure the votls on the wire when the parking brake is set and then find a resister to bring a reguler wire or that wire down to that voltage while the parking break is off right?? if this is the case im not the best with cars but i am an airplane michanic and i though of what i said HOWEVER that methed WILL NOT work see my parking brake doesnt engage the wheels unti about 5 clicks and for some reason at 1 click my radio thinks my brake is set because the voltage is right NOW you would thing i could just drive around with th brake at one click no hard done right? wrong i thought of that, the gps ratted me out told the car i swas moving at the same time the brake was telling the radio i was sitting still An error popped up said the radio has detected my parking brake cable was improperly hooked up and disabled all the extra functions sence i only have 1 parking brake wire i knew it was hooked up correctly so if there is a bypass it in the system and has to be put in the radio threw programming that is my conclution with the bypass on the Z1.....anyone agree or disagree with what i have found? input wil be apreciated.

I got some bad news fellas, I work on airplanes and there really are people this dumb doing the work. On the upside most of the critical controls are supposed to be idiot proof..... for he most part.

I am all for the sticky that says "THERE IS NO Z2 BYPASS"

  11. Hyperite, I am lmao at you shooting down Mazdaspeed... he littered up one of my threads begging for an image as well, without contributing anything useful.

A tip you might find useful, when I made my Z2 image with Acronis, I was able to use 7zip and fit my 18gb image on one dual layer dvd. I sent out 2 copies and they both worked.

Right now I am running a Z1 image on my Z2, but its a pre update image and I can't get the update disc to load. Might have something to do with it not being a clean image, I just deleted the Z2 stuff and replaced it with Z1 stuff so I didn't have to delete or reload my music. I am going to mess with it some tomorrow but I might need to hit you up for that HMIManager.exe file that controls the pre/post bluetooth hack.

  12. Just ordered a Z2 service guide, though the item is stated as backordered... Hopefully I will get that soon - guess will see... Until I get that, I am stymied...

That thing could not have been cheap, I am sure some forum members would kick you a few $$ for a copy.... hopefully it has the answers we have been seeking.

  13. I read a little on this model, seems like the one we are looking for :

    http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/10/2 ... index.html

However it shows that bluetooth comes standard with this unit, but since bluetooth is much more common in Europe I suspect they just included the adapter in the box. I emailed a shop in London for a price quote, but I am sure it won't be cheap. Maybe I could just go to europe, purchase one, unlock the HDD and make an image, then return the unit to the store and fly home? Truthfully I think a round trip ticket and one night hotel stay would be cheaper than buying the unit lol.

  14. YzRacer, did you try replacing the HMIManager dll along with the HMIManager exe, the dlls from z1 to z2 although the same size appear to be different. They may need to be matched?

Yes, I replaced all the associated files and no help. I can replace just about any file or files and it will work, but whenever the HMIManager.exe is involved, you get constant reboots.

  15. The HmiManager.exe file in the PRG1/APL folder is what I think controlled the bypass on the Z1, and when I replace that file the Z2 gets constant reboots. I can replace almost any other .exe and the unit will work, which makes me believe Pioneer made sure that we couldn't just swap that one file. I wish I had some programming skills, hopefully you guys will get it soon. Thanks for the hard work!

  16. It's way less than 50%, I think there are only 2 people that have been successful with this trick. I suppose it could be a glitch or something, or there is something about the trick that isn't being described properly. It almost seems that in the procedure that was described, no one knows exactly what triggers the system to work this way.

  17. I am glad you guys like it, I think it needs to be used more often. We have so many threads on the Z2 now! It's not like its that hard to search, and popular questions are always at the top of the list anyway. Since I joined this forum and others I have been amazed at all the info you can find, just by using the SEARCH!
