  1. Ok....everytime I come on here, I hear more negativity from staff about Pioneer navi, maps, and just about anything else. I agree on some of their comments but here's the question.

Tell me who has a better all around unit than Pioneer. I had a Z-2 and now Z130BT. Everthing seems to work flawlessly including the mapping.

    Why all the negativity?

Curious and open to hear from anyone.

  2. My GPS location is dead on and I'm surprised that so many are complaining about the 130BT. I like it much better than the Z-2 and the Alpine. I will say without hesitation that the 130BT is as good as anything out there at the moment. I will also say that most of the problems are caused by improper installation. Yeah, I know you all are experts and blaming it on the unit instead of a botched install but that's OK with me.

By the way, my unit was installed by professionals who make their living by their reputation. Sure they charge a little more but you only get what you pay for IMO.

Owner of a perfect operating 130BT.

  3. Uhhh, what? There is no day/night icon. The AVIC goes into night mode automatically when the headlights are turned on (when 12v is provided to the illumination wire).

Sure there is. See first photo below. To get to this screen you have to touch the information icon shown in the second photo.

You are correct about the screen going into nite mode when the headlights are turned on manually or automatically. Most newer vehicles with the auto headlight feature will turn the headlights on automatically even on an overcast day making the screen go into nite mode which is very hard to see.

I hope this is clear because it was one of the things I wanted to share with other owners of the Z-130-BT.

  4. Just stumbled across this on my 08 GMC Savanna with auto DRL.

With the screen display setting on auto, there were many instance the nav screen would go in the night view on an overcase day making the black background very difficult to see. By clicking on the day/nite icon on the nav screen you can have a choice of having the background go black or just slightly dimmer than the day setting. This make the nav screen display much easier to read when your vehicle light system is on automatic.

The photos below show the difference between these three available settings.

  5. No.....just called State Farm and sent them the photos. They requested I go to one of their repair stations to verify that the wiring was in fact for the AVICz2. Once the shop let them know, I received a call from my agent letting me know that this model was no longer avaiable but they would upgrade me with the 130 BT. The only thing I had to pay was my deductible $250.

  6. Get a better security system. This happened in broad daylite in a busy movie theater parking lot. The 2008 GMC van was locked but the thieves simply punched in the lock with a screwdriver and opened the door without the alarm making a sound. They stole the AVICZ-2 but didn't cut a wire. They knew what they were doing. The insurance company replaced it with the 130 BT which is no where as good as the Z2.

  7. has anyone tried to update the firmware on their units yet ? I have tried to do the update as per the instructions above which are also posted on the pioneer website, I have tried it using two different SD cards but nothing happens. any ideas ?

    Brian

I also followed the DL and install instruction to a T and even tho the update starts and seems to progress I then get the message that the information did not update and then re starts the update process all over again. I copied the AZ110 files to a new SD 4G card.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  8. I had an installer put in a Z130BT in my car on Friday. I received the Installation Manual and the Quick Start Guide. I did not receive an Owners Manual. Is this unit suppose to have an Owners Manual included in the box? I did go out and download the PDF Owners Manual, but I also like to have a book in hand to read.

If you can stand the price, order the hard copy from Pioneer.......$38 including shipping, tax and handeling charge.

  9. I dislike trying to read the pdf version and decided to order the hard copy from Pioneer. The price of the manual was listed as $23.24 which is ok but when I got to check out this is what came up.

    Manual: $23.24

    Shipping Charge: $9.49

    Handling Charge: $2.95

    Sales Tax: $2.68

    TOTAL $38.36

Damn, these manuals are expensive.

  10. Toshiba made a hard-drive just for him.

Pioneer throws him a birthday party. Every day of the year.

One of his heartbeats could power a million subwoofers for fifty lifetimes. Twice.

His personality is so magnetic, he has to wear a lead vest every time he handles his product.

    He is

The Most Interesting Man on Avic411.

    LOL

  11. Now that I have your attention......

    He is a gentleman.

He does what he says he will do.

    He answers email with dispatch.

    He ships quick.

His service is way too cheap.

He upgraded my Z2 maps without a hitch.

Even if he wrecked your hard drive, you would thank him.

    I recommend him highly.
