  1. iwfratz made some time to help me with this project this week so i'd like to get him as much info and data as i can. firstly i need some help from you guys since i'm pretty new to this device

1: can someone post a link for getting an emulator running of the f900bt (i'm at work and we're not supposed to use the internet, lol)

2: how can i dump the os from my unit to sd or usb so i can load it in the emu and send him a zip of everything?

i know i could do alot of searching and reading, i'm sure someone on here chuck88 *cough* can point me in the right direction

  2. yes yes and no to answer your question chuck88

no interest/help from the creator of msm7k for overclocking. however, the creator of wimospeed is in contact with me and willing to help!!! thank goodness for the dev's at xda. he has no familiarity with wince5 and no access to an f900bt unit. so i'm working with him on setting up the emulator for him with my modified system image running fx3.1 and yes, .net 3.5, all the basics are in the making for this to be a success so let's see if we can make it fly.

what i know so far. with windows mobile environments, ce5 and winmo 6.0 for example, the processor speed is constantly changing within a range so you can't just patch the registry for an overclock. this is important and where wimospeed comes in. you have to modify windows to use that program to actively control the processor clock based on load. that program has to be compatible with the hardware, which the processor is a go, but making sure the program has proper access to everything it needs is another story.

my hd2 died so i'm currently fixing that. i'll update the first post with information and post new news based on my next reply from the creator of wimospeed(iwfratz).

  3. wince is verrry proprietary meaning getting drivers for the system to run ANY other OS is near impossible, let alone having it fully functional. now hacking apart the current gui to customize it is more than possible. again i'm more worried about stability and functionality now. lets make what we have work right, then change a million things. everyone agree?

  4. wimospeed needs netcf 3.5 and as far as i know we only have 2.0, also it is OS specific. will post info as i find it about this. update i have the net cf 3.5 files for wince5.0 so i'm going to try to get that running tonight.

i have an account over at xda and am in contact with netripper, i've never worked with him on a project before so i don't know his feelings, but i have with several other dev's for the hd2, tp2, pure, etc. so hopefully someone puts in a good word for me and we can move forward with this. his overclock seems to be the most viable to port to our devices. it will not work out of the box because it is OS specific so if he is willing to shoot me the source or even make some mods himself that would be great. i'll keep you guys up to date as more details come in on the first post so i don't have a 500 post long thread with one line updates

  5. this is my first thread here and i'm sure the mods will move it into the correct spot if it doesn't belong here. i'm posting what i know and hoping a few people with more experience with windows ce can progress this to completion with me. i've done plenty of work over at xda-developers and am comfortable enough with windows mobile to play around, plus i have a spare f900bt. but i am no expert.

    important stuff

the f900bt runs an arm xscale processor similar to most smartphones. specifically it runs an arm1136J-S.

    http://www.arm.com/products/processors/classic/arm11/arm1136.php for more information.

our processor runs in the 500mhz range if i'm not mistaken.

and no i'm not recommending something ridiculous like opening up the unit and soldering in a faster processor. however a 30%gain is more than realistic and achievable through overclocking in my experience. running a very similar processor and omapclock two smartphones ago with windows mobile 6.1 i stably achieved 628mhz which would be a huge improvement for us. hell the software runs now but is just laggy so throw an extra 100+ mhz on it and these units should fly.

what i've done so far. you can access the native windows os on our units through the settings and then service menu after the unit fully boots, not from an sd card. you have full permissions to install programs as i've already done. i've loaded xcpuscalar 3.03 onto the f900bt via cab from the sd card slot. installs fine, short cuts load to the start menu. but i get a protection code 3 when running. after that it's easy, establish a default value, create a startup folder and drop the sortcut or hell, even add an autoexec.bat command line...ahh the good ol' days.

i chose xcpuscalar because it has a generic overclock function that is compatible with our processors and the native OS on the f900bt obviously there is nothing device specific for us or i wouldn't be posting here. update, xcpuscalar is for arm based processors but doesn't support ours. i'm in contact with a dev over at xda trying to modify one of his personal programs to run on our machines. however we have to have atleast .net cf 3.5 so i'm working on loading that onto my unit now.

if anyone wants to work with me on this i have a copy of the overclock program i'm using and have no problem sending it to you.

btw, carver, i know your out there, did you ever get the larger nand chip for internal memory running? i have some input for you on that and possibly some alternatives.

  6. i have a us f900bt and i followed the steps exactly except for giving the new partition a name, shouldn't matter, and when i run the pioneer update it says file checking... incorrect software in sd/usb and stays at 0%

edit: i just realized this is for the European version not US/Canada. that was the issue, same procedure with US files worked great. thank you

  7. open total commander on your desktop, on the right pane click the control panel.ink double click stylus then calibration and calibrate it, i had the EXACT same problem and couldn't clock the start button to get there and realized there was a shortcut after you opened total commander, works 100% and use somthing fairly accurate, not your finger to calibrate.

  8. i have an f900bt did the x3.1 firmware update, worked fine for several days, out of no where, no modifications made at all, unit would load say please wait system starting, then reboot. i reflashed and formatted memory, reloaded wince and update myflash drive, did same thing, i figured some of the data wasn't getting erased, so i formatted the mbr to clear everything, reloaded, it asked me for language and rebooted. now i get pioneer boot screen and it just stays there, then reboots after 5 mins. any help?
