  1. you dont have to do any of what they said if you click on the ipod buttom in the menu you will get a screen that says artist album ect.. at the top of this screen it will say music-video click the top to switch to the videos. you can either use app mode or you can use the interface to access them as well. Pioneer makes several cord. Are you sure you got the right one? post the name of the one you got and ill verify if its the right one.

  2. I might be wrong one this but, I believe the z series comes with the traffic and the z series comes with built in hd radio plus everything else you said and its overall a better looking unit because of the screen size

  3. BT will just give you slightly fancier control than you would get wit a BT headset. Phone, and stereo audio. (It will display more info, and handles Voice Recognition dialing). The cable adds a much enhanced control of the iPhone. Especially the music/video playback. The HU builds a catalog/database for voice recognition (VR) by album, artist, song. On the 120/130 is adds more - like Pandora - directly from the AVIC.

Basically, very much of the iPhone/iPod functionality and control can be done from the AVIC touch-screen. Enough that I just keep it in my glove box. Of course, there are other apps and functions on the phone you can't control from the HU, it doesn't replicate the whole user interface.

I don't play videos while driving (2-seater - I'm too busy driving - and the passenger is holding-on for dear life ), so I'm not an expert on this. But many who do them store the videos on the iPhone/iPod. Yes, you can also play videos from CD/DVD/SD, but many will require re-formating and it can be tedious. The back of the User's Manual has some of the supported formats. BTW, if you don't have yours yet, you can

this guy said it all. The cable give you enough features to just get it. Plus if you have an iphone you probably want a car charger and this also give you this functionality.

There is only one interface for xm its made by pioneer I think. (there may be more but pioneer is going to be the best one for their unit)

They also make one for sirrus too and then i believe theres one for sirrus and xm if you want both.

  4. I wouldn't go that far...some have better maps, but all the other ones I've seen have TERRIBLE AV interfaces and GUI's in general, especially the Sony ones.

they dont create the navi system. They dont write the code for it. So to point the finger at only pioneer isnt fair. As for the nav I really like it. Im not a big fan of garmin or tom tom but I would really only say kenwood unit has better nav because they use garmin every other unit the actual nav interface is shitty

  5. Hello all,

I have a 2008 Navigator and I am looking at getting the Z130BT, especially since I see that they are no longer using MSN. Before I purchase I am going by the dealer to see if my truck qualifies for the SYNC kit since they make one for select '08 Navigators, but if I can't get the sync kit added I will get the Z130BT. No USB or bluetooth audio is killing me.

Ok let me give you the setup, right now everything is factory, it has the voice navigation THX system with the amp, sub, Rear Seat entertainment, sirius, and backup cam in the rear view mirror. I want to replace the factory head unit with the Z130BT and limit the functionality loss. I know I will need the PAC C2R-FRD1 for CAN-BUS, VSS, etc and the SWI-PS for the steering wheel controls but:

    1. Don't I need some type of adapter for the factory AMP?

    2. If I decide to replace the factory amp with an aftermarket one is there some type of harness to ease the transition like the PAC AOEM-FRD24?

    3. I noticed that all of the adapters that I look at only have 4 channels, but the truck has 9 speakers that I know of plus the sub.(The Lincoln website says 14 speakers, idk where????) (One in each door(4), Two in the front near the side rearview mirrors (2), one in the center (1), and two in the rear above the rear hatch (2), plus the sub). So how would the other five+ channels & sub be incorporated?

    4. I also think I will need an Antenna adapter for the radio antenna and for the sirius, is this true?

    5. I like the rear camera in the mirror but was wondering if I could also have it display on the radio at the same time? I may have to tap into some wires for that.

    6. Will I be able to use lincoln's built in mic for voice commands on the Z130BT? It hears me alot better than the one on the Z110BT in my wifes car.

    7. Will I lose my voice activation steering wheel control button?

    8. Will the radio volume mute/lower when the backup sensors go off or is there something special needed for that?

Thanks in advance for all the help team.

    Chris

I cant answer all of your questions but ill try to answer as many as possible because i know the unit well but im not too familiar with the equipment in your car.

for steering wheel controls you do need the adapter.

    4. I might be wrong on this one but i think you will need the whole sirrus set up. Your current sirrus radio stuff is only good on your current HU and you will need to get the adapter and antenna.

    5. If you wanted your camara to dual display you would have to do some splicing of the wires.

    6. You would also have to do some major splicing to use the mic thats built into your car and even with that it isnt going to work as good as it does for you now. In the avic z130 to my knowledge the bt issue has been resolved. No one is having the problems that they had with the z120 and z110.

7 You will lose functionality of steering wheel voice controls. The only steering wheel functions you can retain are mode switching (radio, ipod, sirrus, ect), volume, next track, previous track, and mute. There might be one or two that im missing but i know anything to do with navigation and VR or BT are no longer available.

    8. Im not sure this will happen. I HIGHLY doubt it because that would require you integrating your back up sensors with the HU.

If you wanted to do some extreme modifications and splicing and rewiring you could get most of the stuff you want. I would not recommend this though.

All of the features you get from factory installations are integrated to work with everything the car currently has. When you use aftermarket equipment most of the factory integrated features dont work anymore because the factory equipment is built into that specific car. Where as the aftermarket equipment has to be compatible with most cars on the market. In doing that they cant make the units as integrated with all of those features because each car company does it in a different way and it would be too costly and no economical to try and build a unit that can retain all of the features.

I just had my unit installed last week and I love it. I cant find a thing wrong with it. That doesnt mean I wont though. So good luck with your install and hopefully this helps

  6. I got the avic z130 installed a few days ago and i see the auto eq and it wont let me use it. I know its because i need a second mic or something. My question is how do I gain functionality of this feature and has anyone used it. Is it good or is it not worth making it functional? Any feedback is appreciated.

  7. thanks i dont have the jbl audio and im not doing the install myself im taking somewhere and they will install im just buying the parts otherwise it would be like $100 from them when i can get it for much less at amazon plus i have an amazon gift card

  8. i have a 2008 prius.

I want to buy the device off of amazon if possible so a link to what I should get would be much appreciated.

I am not too familiar with any of this I am taking it to a shop to install all this but i thought it would be cheaper to buy everything on my own rather than from them.

If you could explain what it is i need so that I will be able to keep my steering wheel controls.

    thanks

  9. I am planning on buying the 130 this week and i want to make sure my steering wheel controls work. I have a Prius so i dont have that many buttons. What would be the unit i should get i know pac has a few. What would work best with the 130 and my prius.

  10. I thing he's referring to a shipment announcement.

exactly like they just said the new units would come out in march or april but never really set a date. They still havent but apparently stores are starting to ship them now

  11. I have already heard a lot on how bad the bluetooth calling is because of the built in mic. My question is can you purchase an external mic and have it replace the one that is built in? If so which one do you guys recommend?

  12. I dont know much about sony but i know that kenwood and pioneer are the leaders in this field. Song has so many products that they cant make any of them as good as they could be because they are spread out over a large field of electronics.

The kenwood units are very slow (slow start up, Slow Interface) as you have said they are very laggy. The gps on this unit is probably rated the best because it uses garmin. Personally if i wanted garmin i would go buy one. I would rather have a custom built gps interface that works better with the unit rather than stick on that is already made and trying to make it work. Kenwood will also give you a little bit better audio (not much but it will be better) But the overall interface is lacking. These units are very pricy they are one if not the most expensive units you can get.

The pioneer units have a much better interface and the gps on them is average as you probably already know.

I would wait if I were you and see about the new products that come out. Maybe look into the z130 because it does have built in traffic and hd radio which is free

If not then wait till the new series comes out.

(Pioneer seems to release a new overhaul every 3 units)
