I did the by-pass to mine. The navigation's functions are available when the vehicle is in motion but the DVD's picture won't play. I also get the parking brake message at start-up. I'm going to try the one click of the parking brake thing to see if that does anything.

My nav froze last week. I was going to a casino in CT. Knew where I was going but wasn't paying attention to the exits. Just waiting for the nav to tell me to turn. I started to think that I had been driving for awhile. Then I realized that the nav froze about 40 miles earlier. Upgrade disk heading my way now.

Thank you very much for the info! I was reading the installation instructions again last night. It kind of sounded like that cable was for a different head unit but I guess it makes sense that it's require. That trim is a pain in the butt to take off (new body style GMC Sierra) but this should be the last time it comes off.

Having a simular problem with the XM Radio/Nav-Traffic connected to my Z2. Connections look to be good. Only things are aren't connected are the IP Bus In and IP Bus Out. Based on what I'm reading here, sounds like I need to connect one of them. My other vehicles usually either have XM or Sirius satelite radio. I know that has to be activated but there is usually at least one channel that works. Even if it's just telling you to sign up. Actually, I believe there are a few channels available before the subscription is done. When I goto source, the XM button isn't there. available to be used. It's there, but not highlighted like the FM or DVD for example. Tried resetting the XM and Z2. That didn't work. I'll pull the head unit out (kind of a pain in the butt feeding all of those wires) and connect the IP-Bus. That seems to be the only thing left.

Yes, I do have the GEX-P10XMT. Connections look to be good. Only things are aren't connected are the IP Bus In and IP Bus Out. My other vehicles usually either have XM or Sirius satelite radio. I know that has to be activated but there is usually at least one channel that works. Even if it's just telling you to sign up. It's there, but not highlighted like the FM or DVD for example. Tried resetting the unit but that didn't work. I'll pull the wires down to make sure the fuse isn't blow. That seems to be up high enough that I'll have to slide the Z2 out.

Finally got around to wrapping up my install last night. Went to activate/use the XM radio and found that the button isn't highlighted when I goto source. Everything is connected at the XM box. Aside from something coming unplugged from the Z2 when we fed all of the wires in, is there anything that I'm missing. Looking through the Z2, it's like the XM/Nav traffic doesn't exist.
Thanks!

It's been a long Summer so my buddy and I finally got around to finishing the Z2 installed. Also took care of the 2 wire by-pass (works great!), satellite radio/NAV traffic and Vizualogic headrests with 9" monitors.
Been trying to chase down the problem with it not booting up when the truck is first started. Sometime's it's fine and other times I can hear the relay clicking.
shotgun_customs: We read your reply but aren't sure which wire to move that power wire to.
Also have something new after he install today, there is a hum in the speakers for about 10 seconds after the truck is started. Then it goes away.
Thanks!

Subscribing to this. I've been wondering the same thing.

I downloaded the 30-something meg file last night and will burn it onto a CD and load it in my Z2. Then take care of the 2 wire bypass. Also need to install the satellite radio/nav traffic along with 9" Vizualogic headrest monitors/DVD players. Hope to finally have time to take care of that stuff next week!

Put your parking brake on and they will work. Or do the bypass
Yup... that works! I guess I should read the manual some more. Navigation systems usually work when the vehicle is stopped or in park. I didn't think I had to set the parking brake to use this one.
I'm going to be taking care of the bypass soon.
Thank!

No, not warnings.

Last week I noticed that alot of my navigation features for my Z2 aren't working. The icons are there but they aren't bold to be used. The features that don't work are - Address Search, Go To, POI Search, Route Overview, Telphone Search and Cancel Route. Everything did work fine before.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!

So the bypass wiring is the same as doing the Z1?
Just a matter of getting the upgrade disk or downloading from Pioneer's site if they put the "upgrade" on there this week, load that disk and then do the two wire upgrade and we're good to go?
Sounds easy enough!

I'll check the power/ground connections. I've been trying to find some pattern but haven't been able to. One time I put my foot on the brake pedel and it powered it. Might have just been a coincidence through.
The vehicle is the new body style ('07 ) GMC Sierra HD.

What is the VSS wire used for? I didn't connect this when my Z2 went in and everything seems to work fine. Even the speedo on the "dash screen" seems to be showing the correct speed. It match my speedo.

I find that it has a mind of it's own. Sometimes it powers up as soon as I key on or start the vehicle. Other things it doesn't do anything. Totally dead in the water. It sounds like I can hear a relay clicking when it doesn't power up. Sometimes it will turn itself on after about 20 or 30 seconds. Other times I have to turn the truck on and off a few times and then it comes on. Haven't found any pattern to why it doesn't come on all of the time.
Any suggestions?
btw- We need to offer a reward to whomever can come up with the hack to allow full use while the vehicle is moving. 100 people offering $25. That should be some incentive!

Thanks for the info! Isn't this usually connected to the BCM? I've heard a variety of different things for this truck. Possibly the green wire connected to the BCM and then different locations for that (under the dash and under the truck).

I've checked the listing and searched else where so it's time for me to ask here. Where can I find the VSS wire for my new body style 2007 Sierra HD? I believe the body control module (BCM) is located inside the dash on the driver's side. If that is the case, I just need to know which wire it is.
Thank you!

I received your e-mail and left a voice mail yesterday.

Thanks for the info! I called there a little while ago and spoke with Ben. He said they don't have anything like this and the camera can only be hooked up to one of their monitors. I know that isn't true (anything is possible ) so there has to be a way. If they no longer have that part availble then matching up the wires on an RCA connection should allow this to work.
-
The Z2 is installed and works fine. Onstar works and the steering wheels controls are fine. All good there! I'm using the camera from Vizualogic's Hindsight package -

They installation diagram -

This has a nice bracket that mounts above the hitch. Perfect location! The wire that runs from the camera to the head unit has a round end with 4 pins. The Z2 accepts an RCA connector. I'm thinking this is no big deal. My buddy and I cut the 4 pin connector off and wired it to an RCA connector. We can't get the camera to work. I think he tried every combination of wires but no dice. We tapped into the back-up light wire for activation when the truck is in reverse.
I'm not sure if the different connector is the problem or maybe this needs to be fed into an AV switcher. I'm going to need that when the headrest monitors come in and when I hook up the camera in back of my car hauler. There was some actitivity on the screen when he tried different wires (sometimes jumped from split screen to full view but no activity from the camera.
Any suggestions? I don't think changing the ends will be a problem as long as the correct wires are connected. Not sure if we are missing something here.
Thanks!

Adapting a factory GPS antenna?
in General
Posted
I was just going to as a simular question. I currently have the XM antenna for my Z2 on the dash but the reception isn't that great so I was told that it should be mounted on the roof. Vehicle is a 2007 GMC Sierra (new body style). It has a single antenna on the driver's side of the roof. Can I tie into that instead of using the antenna included with the Z2? I'm going to look at that site too.
As I type this I remembered that I didn't order navigation from the factory so I don't have a factory nav antenna up here. My reception for that tends to be pretty good (aside from it freezing once).
