  1. So about 30 min I had the urge to update my 8100nex from 1.01 to 1.05. I loaded up the thumb drive and started to process on my unit. Well the first process went ok, but once the unit rebooted, the update failed and I'm now stuck in a recovery boot loop.

I've tried re doing my flash drive with 1.05 and then with 1.03 to no success. I thought about trying to load the software to an SD card, but there is no way for me to engage the screen to allow SD card access.

Any ideas here? I thought about calling Pioneer and I will, but I'm fairly certain they are going to ask me to send it in and i'm no longer under warranty. Good thing I bought a square trade warranty.

  2. Finally decided to replace my 8000 with a 8100 and I'm glad I did for one reason and one reason only....The capacitive screen. At first I thought I'd be ok with the resistive screen of the 7100, but in the end the capacitive just looks better. I'm sure i'll regret this during the winter though, when I put on gloves with out the fingertips.

It seems like they sped these units up a little too. Everything just seems a little speedier and opens up extremely quick. Finally they made it so that I can use bluetooth audio while leaving my iPod plugged in. Android auto is just amazing. I need to figure out how to enable my cloud music over it though.

This leads me to my next point.........If you are going to use Android auto buy a 4100. It's just not worth the extra money for built in nav. Google maps nav works great so far and the voice commands are awesome.

So far this is a great unit and I have no i'll will at Pioneer as my 8000 broke and Square trade payed me out to replace it. I'd likely want to burn their offices down if I needed to pay for it.

  3. Does your Wrangler have a stock amp included with a Bose or similar system? I had something similar happen when I installed my 8000. It always seemed like the sound levels were extremely hot. How did I fix it? Wire in male RCAs to my harness and connect them to the preamp out on the NEX.

  4. So the Bluetooth on my 8000NEX has been shot since the new year. Luckily I bought a square trade warranty at the time of purchase and finally got around to calling them. After a little back and forth, they are refunding me the 1k I purchased for the unit. I end up eating the $150 spent on the warranty, but that seems fair given the situation.

I've been thinking of what to replace it with and have a few options. I'm not a big fan of the capacitive screen on the 8000 so though about going with the 7100, but given how the price difference is only $40 on Ebay, I figured it would be better to get the higher replacement value on my next warranty. I'm now between the 8100 and the 4100.

Are you guys who switched from the 8000 to the 4100 missing the built in navi? I'm nearly set on going with the 4100 and pocketing the $500 to put on something else.

    Any opinions?

  5. So I was attempting to listen to bluetooth audio today and the NEX wouldn't connect to my phone. Once I got home I tried resetting the microprocessor, clearing the settings (which error btw) and updating the firmware to 1.08. To no avail of course. Any time I go to access the bluetooth menu I get an ERROR-02. All BT settings are greyed out. The phone dialer will not show anything either.

It sounds to me like the BT function is completely shot, but I've reached out to Pioneer for their assistance. Anyone had this happen before and were you able to fix it?

I bought my unit from eBay, but with a Square Trade Warranty. So luckily I should be covered in the event Pioneer will not cover me. I'll tell you thought if given my money back I'm not sure I'll be buying Pioneer again. I had an AVIC-D3 back in the day that quickly developed a hum and now this. Pioneer needs to step up their game.

  6. So It's been a while since I had a Pioneer deck and wondering if we can update the nav database to include more POIs. I took a trip to my local guitar center, which has been at the same location for 10 years, and the NEX wanted to send me all the way to Brooklyn instead of going to the store 10 min away.

I think I was able to easily update the POI on my Kenwood years ago. Is it possible here?

  7. I have an aging AVIC-F90BT that I'm thinking of replacing with an AVIC-8000NEX.  Does anyone know whether the wiring harnesses for these units are the same?  It would be nice to simply unplug the F90BT, swap in the 8000NEX and not have to change out the harness.

    Looks the same.

  8. Is the screen crsip, bright, and awesome? YES! is a capacitive screen necessarily the best for a vehicle? NO! Some times I find my self using my finger nail to precisely press the spacebar, which obviously does not work.

Everyone complains about how the 7000's screen was washed out very easily, but what you're not being told is that the reflection is terrible and nearly makes the screen unreadable when reflecting. Yea you can put a anti-glare screen protector on it, but that solution is not entirely elegant. Is it worth the $200 difference? You have to decide that for yourself. I'm not entirely sold and wonder if the 7000 would have me just as satisfied albeit with savings in my pocket.

  9. Currently I have my iPod hooked up to USB2 and in order to use Pandora via bluetooth I have to unplug the iPod. Is this because I have it hooked up to USB2 or just the annoying case with the new NEX units?

I'm going to be angry if I have to disconnect it each time.

  10. It's not a ground loop. There are no whines and it doesn't change as i'm stepping on the accelerator. So It's on with the engine running and off.

I'm going to test my hung later and jump the bose connector to bypass the amp completely. If the hiss goes away then the signal coming from the line level speaker outputs is too hot. I've already ordered http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009B8EJYU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 in anticipation.

  11. So I just finished my 8000 install and everything went smoothly. Besides the nav voice being way too loud in the begining. I know have to have it set to 2% to not blow my ear drums out. The problem is I have a ton of white noise that I can't seem get rid of. If the music is off or under 4-5 it's very noticeable and annoying. My car is a 2014 CX-5 with Bose and I'm wondering if the Bose system has something to do with it and also has something to do with why the Nav guidance was so freaking loud. The noise is like a constant hiss like I had the volume up too loud.

Any one with the same problem or maybe a resolution? I'm close to just cutting the wires on the bose system and bypassing it completely.

  12. So I just received my next and am wondering what is required to mirror my smart phone. Right now I'm using an LG G2, but change frequently and they are always android devices. Do I need the Pioneer cable or will a run of the mill MHL adapter work?
