  1. No offense here, I mean SPH-DA120 is a bit different case, as it's basically a mirror touchscreen display/ + GPS antenna. So you only need to have your prefered nav program running on phone. I'm not sure, it's revelant to add another apk in such device. But removing warning screen, changing boot/splashcreen, create colored skin or even correct Pioneer typo would be really nice. And changing the base image (US->EU) with the newest one could help if specific US elements can be replaced...

  2. Cross flash isn't possible yet between EU/US  x000/x100 to avoid a damage of the units,

only between  x000/x100 US/ or! F7x,96,97 BT etc. EU ..,but the navigation can be ported even to the android based smartphone from 2.3.x  ;-)

My sph-da120 does not have navigation  ...

  3. Quite amazine works guys !!!!!

All NEX Units that run the Android firmware are compatible. So that means NEX 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000, 4100, 5100, 6100, 7100, and 8100. As well as their European counterparts.

SPH-DA120 is quite similar to 4000 so i guess it should applies to this list (difference is about GPS module http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/38859-nex-runs-android-and-other-useless-info/?p=332325 )

The  EU firmware is practically the same, with some minor differencies from the US/CA/ME/...

I don't use and like Android based smartphones (exept of some for test purposes only)..,but,can confirm, that Pioneer AppRadio & Pioneer NaveGate HUD works perfect with my unite and my iPhone 6

Have you some more details... As US models do have 1.10 firmware but EU ones still rely on 1.07 .... Maybe a cross flash can be done

  4. There is no difference between the 1.07 and 1.08 firmwares for the appradio 4. It is just a way for pioneer to know when the unit came out of the factory. http://www.appradioworld.com/2015/05/pioneer-support-clarifies-appradio-4.html

Yep, I've also read this news, but I keep being septical about it :

    • I don't know a single serious developer that only use build version for keeping trace of a production date.
      • Pioneer can still use the device serial number for this, and it's probably more accurate.
      • Possibly it hides a hardware change, then fonctionnalies can remain the same. That's a communication issue then.
        • BTW : I downgraded my device from 1.07 to 1.08, and no issue so far. I didn't use the 1.08 enough to see difference.
    • I also asked support the same question some weeks ago and they only said the v1.08 will be released (no ETA) .... Support was not even aware a new firmware was released with newer devices... 2 differents supports leading to 2 different answers is very strange ....

IMO the only way to confirm this, is a binary compare between 1.07 and 1.08.

  5. I'm actually using a SPH-DA120 and while it has the same software it's hardware appears different (I haven't seen a 5000NEX). The whole front plate is a touch screen - I took it apart and there are no hardware buttons.

Either Pioneer tech's have a different interface or they've shipped a recovery mode that doesn't work with this hardware!

I'm also having SPH DA120. So should i understand that "hardware buttons" on the left side, aren't functionnal because they are part of the touchscreen panel also ?

  6. Hey guys, is the set on/off button you are looking for is this one ?

It looks like this is the same exact screen posted earlier.

Anyway just to confirm the SPH-DA120 model is quite similar to the NEX5/6/7/8 series .... Firmware is even named NEX5000 and it does include a 4GB SD card inside ...

Didn't unlocked mine yet (not sure I can recover the password yet) ...

    Will follow this theard anyway.

Oh, and for those who wants to build/rebuild apk, this kitchen is very nice !! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736409
