  1. On my D3, you have multiple vehicle dynamic options to view such as: angular velocity, slope, compass, voltage, side acceleration, ect. Are there no options for this on the x920bt or z series?

I forgot my D3 had that...they took out a good amount of features out with the X920, including a descent navigation. I would trade the stupid Eco thing for vehicle dynamics anyday..

  2. My iPhone 4 worked great with my D3 and it also works well with my new 920BT. You might want to try deleting the iPhone from the D3 and then re-sync it. I recently just bought the x920bt because the D3's LCD screen went. The iPhone features are better on the 920BT but the Nav is garbage, it lags behind pretty bad. I also miss the feature of dialing by phone number to enter a destination. I used that a lot, the 920BT doesn't have it. I like the D3 because you could put custom backgrounds on the splash screen, the main AV screen and the Nav screen. The X920bt i believe you can only do the splash screen( haven't really messed with it yet). As far as whether or not you should pickup the X920BT, its a toss up. I bought mine because I basically had to get another radio and there was 100.00 rebate. But, if you really don't "need" to get another radio, keep the D3.

  3. Hmmm...

A little more confused now...LOL. We're three levels of quoting deep, now...and that's just two hard to parse...

    So, to clarify...

    1. WHICH color harness DOES NOT require any re-wiring? White or black?

    Black

    2. Which color is the "main" harness when you say "main"?

    Black

    3. For the plug that DOES require re-wiring, how many total changes are we talking? Is it just moving the mute wire over to accomplish the bypass, or is more than that?

White...grounding the yellow and black wire...Yes

    4. What does "probably" have to rewire mean? lol

    5. Does the existing GPS antenna plug fit or not??

    Didn't fit...D3 was round...X920BT is square

    6. Can someone just do a STEP-BY-STEP on EXACTLY what needs to be changed for the guy who started this post? Exact rewiring...pin by pin...and get agreement between the two of you. You'd be helping not only the thread creator, but this guy as well:

  4. the (black) harness hooked right in...The speaker(white) harness did not...

the speaker harness is the black harness, the white harness is the RCA harness

Your right...the black harness for me was the only one I really used and in my opinion the hardest of the both to install...the RCA(white) I only used two wires (backup camera and ground)...

just pulled it out of the D3 and put it into my X920bt...even the bypass was the same

how is the bypass exactly the same if the plug isn't?

I got the harnesses mixed up, my bad...the install from the D3 to 920bt shouldn't take more than 20-25 min...if it takes any longer you shouldn't be installing the radio yourself..

the main harness may be the same style plug plug, pioneer changed most of their harnesses for the 2009 models, but it doesn't look like they changed the main harness for the nav systems so you probably dont need to rewire the main harness

One that harness I had to ground the yellow wire i think...that was it...

its the yellow/black "mute" wire, the pin has to be moved over one spot before you ground it

  5. Congratulations:) The X920BT is a very nice unit. The X920BT is a lot more stable than the previous units in the X-series, so you will most likely not need to reinstall - ever. And to answer your question, the unit is sold without a backup of the maps. Good luck with your X920BT!

Ok...Thanks a lot for the reply!!!

  6. Did you have to crimp or splice anything, or did you just pull out wires and put them back in the right place(s) in the new harness?

Are all the colors the same?

Also, people on here have said the XM antenna isn't the same (sounds weird to me)....did the old one fit?

Also, what else was different in the install overall?

you will need to separate the D3 harness from the aftermarket harness you have right now, then you will need to attach the X920's harness to the aftermarket wire harness, either using crimp caps or by soldering the wires together, yes all of the colors are the same.

the XM antenna shouldn't make a difference, but depending on what model tuner you have, you might have to change that to the newer one, you will need to find out what the model number is for the XM tuner is and check it on pioneers web site to see if its compatible or not

you will also have to run the cable for the mic (even if you had the D3 bluetooth, you will have to remove that module, since its built in to the new HU)

and nothing else it different about the install, take out the old parts and put in the new parts

I didn't have to do it...the harness from the D3 is the same as X920BT...just pulled it out of the D3 and put it into my X920bt...even the bypass was the same...Plug n Play

Also, what else was different in the install overall?

I didn't crimp anything on the main harness plug...I just pulled it from the D3 in put it into my X920BT...All the colors are the same...Only thing that was different was the harness plug for the RCA's....but even the wires on that harness were the same...just the plug was different...One that harness I had to ground the yellow wire i think...that was it...

  8. I had the same problem with my D3...I ended up turning off the ringer on the D3...You really don't need it anyway...If your listening to the radio and the phones rings the sound will just cut out and you know you have an incoming call.

As for the bluetooth profiles mine worked fine until I upgraded my BB software to 4.5.0.97...Now i am unable to upload my phonebook...Before, i was able to do it without a problem...Ohh well...i never dial from my radio anyway...

Had the same problem with my iPhone....just turn off the ringer on the D3

  9. So pearltt says it does, and vblue42 says it doesn't. Anyone else want to chime in to make it even more confusing?

    Tru

Sorry I thought you were having probs with A2DP in general...I use it with my iPhone and have to prob...not sure about BB...Sorry!

  10. I have the Pioneer Avic D3 installed in my vehicle and I am intrested in purchasing the Pioneer AVIC-X920BT. Am I able to just unplug the connections on the Avic D3 and just plug into the new unit? Or are there different wires that need to be ran?

    Thanks.

I just put mine in on Saturday...the (black) harness hooked right in...The speaker(white) harness did not...but that harness took two seconds...but basically it was a direct swap...took me 25 min..

  11. Wow...that is insane...Well if you used Paypal you should be fine...I know Paypal holds the payment for 2 or 3 weeks to make sure there are not problems with the product( sort of like escrow)...I always use a credit card with Paypal as a second defense...That way I have 2 people backing me if I were to fall into a scenario just like this...Just file the claim and you should be fine...

  12. I just burned my new CNDV-90MT EAST onto a disk and it works perfectly on my D3..It doesn't have a nice label on it...lol.. but now that all my movies are on my iPod I have no need to eject the Nav DVD anymore so you won't even see the label...

  13. I had the same problem with my D3...I ended up turning off the ringer on the D3...You really don't need it anyway...If your listening to the radio and the phones rings the sound will just cut out and you know you have an incoming call.

  14. I have the Blackberry pearl 8130 from VZW...I was able to pair them up fine...I had to make my phone discoverable and used the search button on my D3 to find the phone...I was unable to use my phone to find the D3 (weird)...but whatever...As far as sending my phonebook, I was able to send all of my contacts in one shot (not one, by one) to my D3. I ended up following some post on this site that had detailed instructions on how to do it with a VZW phone...
