It's an ipod classic 80gb, I think I found the problem, don't I need the little module that connects to the radio for the ipod to work?

Hi all, I have a D1 that I purchased used, also I got the ipod connector that goes in the blue connector on the back of the radio. My issue is that when I plug my ipod it charges but the radio does not detect nothing , so I'm not able to use it with the radio, is there something I'm missing here? thanks in advance.

I have a x910BT, had it for about 2 years now and like about 2 wks ago it started powering off by itself, checked wiring and thats all good and also tried reseting it and nothing.

Sometimes it works fine so I haven't got a clue about this problem, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
