  1. Hi, with relation to my previous posts about speed camera's I was in touch again with Pioneer yesterday. The matter has been referred to their European Division which has the responsibility for mapping acquisition and updated software. I pointed out that there were still a lot of HD1 etc out there. Has anybody who is using the 2012 update found mapping omissions for roads that have been there for years? Thanks.

  2. Hi, Yes it did have the feature as standard. It also has the max speed in the areas you go into displayed on the unit. The database was supplied by tele atlas but they stopped doing it for some reason. Maybe because they were bought over by TOMTOM. I have files for Benelux supplied by a chap on this Forum. Do you want to have a look at them? Orbis.dat is one of them. I know there are a few owners of these units Avic HD series interested in getting a Camera Database to work. Thanks.

  3. Hi, I have an Avic HD3 and am trying to get a camera database for it. I realise that teleatlas who were bought over by tomtom used to do one but stopped circa 2008. I know that the F series has a up and running current one. I was just wondering how different the files were on the F series to the HD3. I have found out that both files with the database of the cameras are called orbis.dat. Is there anybody that can help shed a bit more light on the mater or point me in the right direction?

Could somebody share the files from the camera database of the F series with me preferably the uk ones, so I can actually see if it can be converted or not? Doesn't matter how old they are. Its for comparison purposes.

I did e-mail tomtom but they referred me to pioneer who weren't very helpful. Thanks.

  4. could you do a reset on youre avic only oni i could do is the "method1" because the "MAP" button dont respond!... i wish i didnt pushed the reset button, because now it dont play at all.... it will be boring and quiet 1hour rides to work.. :(

think i will buy a new on eBay if its 100% sure thats the HD is the problem.... would be nice with the HD3-II software and the new maps...

The radio usually works when there is no hard drive in.

  5. yes i did - i hold the MAP button but nothing happens - the hole unit is very very slow i think....

i let it on nearly an hour and then there were the drivers inforamtion and after that the city of paris was displayed.

the seller says i have to build my old hdd in to see if the "new" hdd is the problem

do i have to pay attention for something by changing the hdds?

because with the new hdd the unit did several updates (HD3>>HD3 II) and now i think i have to do a "downgrade" - am i right?

If you put the old working drive in then it will return to the previous settings of that hard drive. You will see it saying updating files. After that it should work ok. I did it a couple of times. Thats why I new my hard drive with the map updates was at fault and cloned it. Hope this helps. Are u in the UK?

  6. I have a similar problem... my Avic-HD3 stops at the Pioneer startup screen...

the only buttons that work are the "open", "+ vol -" and "< track >".... plays music from the iPod!

it did the same thing once 2weeks ago but now it wont go past the startup/Pioneer logo...

    any ideas?

Hi, Yes that's what mine did eventually. Initially kept restarting and then just stopped. It did still play music from the av source I had opened prior to it doing that. I guess its the Avic looking for the files and it cant read them so gets stuck. I unlocked the hard drive using the tools on this forum, took it out and cloned it. Luckily enough it wasn't to far gone to clone. I put the cloned one in and have not had a problem since. Hope this helps.

  7. Has anybody got camera database files for the F series. Not looking for new ones just ones I can compare files with? Just want to see whats in them to help me with my little project of trying to get an up to date uk camera database on my HD3. Thanks to jwq I now have the black spot menu button.

  8. Thanks jwq. My son is a software engineer. He says he will have a look at it when he gets some time. Loaded fine on to my HD3. Don't suppose anybody out there has the UK database? Thanks again.

  9. I have the files & database, but I never looked at them in detail. You're welcome to have a look though 8)

I find that the database for the Netherlands is still quite useable, despite being a couple of years old as the fixed camera's don't change too much, and the software also displays camera's it receives via RDS

Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the disc for examination? What size of files are on the disc. Would it load on my HD3 so I could work with it? My hd is unlocked. Thanks.

  10. Hi, I have sent and e-mail to Tom Tom technical department asking them if its possible to put a camera database on the maps? Navgate do it through their program for the FT range? We will see what Tom Tom say. I fear not a lot.

  11. Hello JWQ, Did you have a look into the downloaded files to see what they were composed off? I know you will be aware that the newer Avic Sat Nav systems which use the Tom Tom maps have a free camera download data base. Just wondered if that could be adapted to work on the HD1,HD3?

  12. Thanks for that. Its a shame the maps are a year out of date. Is there any facility to edit the POI's or add Tom Toms camera database? I have ordered a EU one from the Netherlands as it works out £50 cheaper than getting one here and thats after postage and Bank Charges. Ridiculous considering its the same discs. Rip of Britian.

  13. Does anybody know whats new on the disc apart from the maps? Do you think if they are tomtom maps then tomtoms camera base can be used or their POI's ? You boys in USA are lucky your update discs are $120 our ones are £250. About 3 times the cost of yours.

  14. Hello, I wonder if some one can assist. I have a Pioneer HD3 set up and recently bought a Pioneer XDV-P6. This a separate DVD, CD player etc. Both units have an IP Bus and the AV Bus. It comes up on the HD3 as Ext1. The sound of the DVD comes through the car speakers and I can control changing discs etc from the HD3 head unit. I am unable to get video to display on the screen. I can get it to work if I connect a video out RCA from the XDV to the video RCA input on the HD3. I have altered the AV feed to external on the Head unit but still no success. There is a video signal coming through the av Bus lead as it displays the terrestrial TV channel on the head unit. I use the RCA in video on the HD3 as an input for the DVB tv which works well so would like to input the video via the AV Bus if possible?

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

  15. Hi, I have followed the instructions and all has went well. I have updated my maps etc to 2010 eu on my HD 3. Can anybody tell me how to transfer the telephone data from the old hard drive 2007 maps to the new drive 2010 maps. I have an Iphone and had to do the stuff manually which took a while. If somebody could point me as to which files to copy across. Thanks.

  16. Hi, I am having problems with my Avic HD3. When you put a CD or DVD in it it comes up that the disc is unreadable. Tried several discs and I know they are ok. I have tried to clean the laser head with a cleaning CD but it has made no difference. I can hear the CD spinning up and it says checking disc so I can only think it is a problem with the laser? Does anybody know where I can get a replacement laser and also has anybody got instructions how to strip the unit down to replace it.

I believe that the HD3 is the European version of the Z series so was hopeful of some help.

    Thanks.

  17. Hello, I wonder if anybody can assist. I am looking for the pin out configuration for the 20 and 16 pin connector on the rear of the Avic HD3BT.( Left to right and top to bottom please) I had an Avic X1r but it died so I bought a HD3BT of e-bay. Its working fine but no peripheral leads came with it. The avic lead fits in the 20 pin connector but I appreciate the feeds out are different. I want to identify the video and audio in so I can adapt the lead to take the input from my pioneer digital tv.

I also want to connect up my reversing camera which I believe is on the 16 pin connector. Also the steering wheel module. My reserve funds at the moment dont stretch to buying the two leads which are looking to cost me over £100. A lot of money for two leads. If anybody has leads that they are not using and have no need for I would be happy to buy then for a reasonable price.(I live in Scotland near Gretna Green FYI) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
