What type of interface are you using? There is probably a loop wire that needs to be cut.

Thanks for the pic. It looks great.

Does anyone have pictures of the dash kit they used on a avalanche/tahoe/suburban?
-
no matter what adapter you get, you would not get HD (720/1080)
or anything better than 480i, so it is pointless. Might as well get a regular old tv tuner and skip the bulky converter that does nothing.

Well thats a disappointment. I was hoping to have a fully integrated solution. Apple has failed.

Has anyone confirmed full functionality with the avic f series (control, plus video and audio)? It never even crossed my mind till now that the apple composite cable is a percent match for the f series. Before everyone spends $50 plus tax we all know they can be had for a few bucks ($10) less over on the ebay and amazon. Keep us updated. Thanks

I think there is a misunderstanding. I want to cut off the female rca connectors from the avic harness (white connector/rca harness) and cut off the male ends from my rca cables and strip them and then solder the two together so that the rca ends (red and white) are bypassed.
-
So i intend on picking up an f-90bt in a short while (once a few things clear up). I had a d3 in my last vehicle. In my new vehicle i will install an amplifier which uses the pre-outs from the avic.
In the name of efficiency and customizing the cable length and keeping the harnesses as compact as possible behind the dash, i want to solder the pre amp outputs from the avic to the cables that run to the amplifier.
Basically trim off the rca jacks from the avic and the cables i will use and solder the two together, heat shrink and then tape up, just like every other wire back there.
I know it can be done and i know that the sound/efficiency probably wont improve enough to hear and it will be more permanent that just connecting the two, but is there any downside besides the few minutes it will take and the permanency? The main reason is so that i don't have 10 feet of cable lying around waiting to pick up noise from every possible source.
I intend to leave the connector on the amplifier end, as i do not intend on soldering near a nice amplifier, but the avic harness lends itself to these kinds of mods.
Thanks!

I didnt realize how many GMT-900 owners were on the forum. Does anyone have any pics of a new f series in a 07 or 08? What kind of harness(es) did anyone use? PAC, peripheral, axxess, scosche?

Dude come on! Why would you want neon lights under your car? Don't do it! Mods should make the car look better, not worse.
...yeh....yeh ur right....what was i thinking....but that didnt answer the question
well im not a fan of neon either but you didn't ask for opinions on neon. The only thing i can think of is to hook up a relay to the detector and power of the neon. Depending on which detector there may be multiple ways. I know with a valentine one there are outputs that may be able to be used. Some units has a headphone output port which may be able to be used as well. Give me an exact model number and i may be able to be more help. Another thing to consider is that detectors are prone to lots of interference from auto door sensors and such so if you cruising through a populated area your neons may just be flashing on and off.
I am kinda in the same boat as you. I have a valentine one and i am considering a way to hook up the detector to mute (attenuate) my soon to be f90bt. Every time the detector goes off the radio would mute until the threat was gone or i acknowledge it some way.
thanks for the response! i dont know what model number to offer, nor do i even kno of any radar detectors...i was in target the other day and saw a radar detector for like $80 which is where i got the idea. idk if that wat im lookin for, since im sure the detector im lookin for is 50 state illegal, but ill post any info i can find.
Well $80 wont get you much. No matter what kind you get it is possible to hookup a relay it will just depend on finding the proper connect and probably will require soldering or something. You may also solder that police do not have there radar on as often as many think. There may be 10 police within 10 feet from you and your neon wont turn off and you may get busted the concept you have is good but may not be plausible with all things considered.

Bluetooth synched to my iPhone perfectly and I made 23 calls with ZERO problems.
Good to hear! (no pun intended)
Where did you mount your mic?
F series has a built-in mic, no?
No. External. Looks like the on that came with the BTB-200, and it plugs directly in the back of the F series

The last thing I want anywhere near my car stereo is some purposeless Google crap. I won't use google software on my computer, let alone in my car.
lol you're crazy google has the number one rated maps
I'm not talking about using a google website, like the search engine or google maps... I'm talking about actual programs, like google toolbars or google widgets or google internet optimizer or other "helper" software that seem to be packaged or backdoored with a lot of downloadable freeware these days. That shit is everywhere.
You just named all the shitty software they make. They have some great stuff available as well... Web based as well as hard drive based. I think google has a great team of developers who do some some damn good work from everything ive seen.

I think you can still use the PAC-SWPS module or whatever it's called to integrate your factory steering wheel controls...
I hope so...I already bought one for my yet-to-ship f90bt
Dido. Its sitting here waiting on the rest of the goodies

interested in buying two (2) units.
update for me. Count me in for three (3) avic-f90bt's
Another buddy of mine is interested (there not avic411 members but should be). We all live in the same area and could put it all on one credit card and have it shipped to one location.

for only $34.99 you can have the bypass instructions. Sweet!
Wow.. From the auction: "Its way better and different than the one available on Interment."
That damn interment is always screwing folks over...
It has special features that no other bypass method can produce. it sounds like a little kid trying to trade his lunch or something... Its way better and different

Can you play video from iPhone through the ipod cable?
I would love to know as well
-
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
All you need for 1-3 to function the way you want is the proper harness. I would recommend the PAC OS2-Bose or the Peripheral GMAH-24B. (There the same with a different brand name)
I don't believe that pioneer offers a trade in service, but i am pretty sure that the Z1 and Z3 use the same harness.
There is lots of install info on the forum for your truck. Look for silverado, tahoe, yukon, avalanche, escalade, sierra etc... installs, as all those trucks have the same dash and wiring etc.
-
Does anyone know what kind of harness it will use? Same as D3 hopefully for my sake! Prolly not though.

before everyone blames the cable. How about the ipod dock connector. Broken, dirty, corroded pins? i will have to go find a schematic of the dock connector and see which caries left and right channels, but i would bet its the ipod over the cable. Cables are just to simple to just fail like that. If it is the cable then like the OP said its a chance of occurrence. Everything is made in china, big deal.
Well considering the fact that he said it happens on both his ipod AND his iphone, I doubt the same exact pins have gone bad on both of their data ports.
oops, sorry i missed that part. Sounds like a faulty cable.

Just a few tips. Some harnesses include a steering wheel control output right at the harness. Others you may need to go to the steering column. Still its a single wire plus power and ground so its not to tough to hook up. The instructions can be confusing the first read through but read em again and should get the hang of it.
The biggest thing i can stress is to program the interface while the vehicle is running. When i installed and programmed the unit the first time with the vehicle off i had problem with buttons not responding or responding slowly. When the vehicle is running the battery voltage is around 2 volts higher and can influence the voltage on a resistance based control system and give inaccurate reading if programmed under battery power with no alternator power. Once i programed the unit with the vehicle running the buttons works quickly and accurately.
