1.

I saw one at 12volt but was wondering does anyone one here have the s1 and would like to review it? Like I heard someone else say the s1 was dead-on, I know they changed maps to navteq, so how do you like the new maps from navteq? Is the s1 accurate? Just give a review. Thanks and God Bless.
Does anyone have the link to 12 Volt's review?
Well it's not an official review, its just a forum topic. 2. THe review at 12 volt was good. DO you own the s1 and are saying that the s1 is bad? Of so, what was wrong with it? Thanks and God Bless.
 3.

Hmm, yeah I don't want to lose anything on the avalon, did they say that was possible? I want to keep the little screen and put the navigation in another place like where the cd is player, but I want to keep the little screen if possible.
I'm sure they could do that...keeping the little screen and install the AVIC-Z1 somewhere else. but, looking at where that cd player is....it's curved....and if you put it there, it'll be tough cause of that curve..... you might be better off getting a different unit (single bin) and puttin

 5.
I went to the pro shop on Saturday to have the AVIC-Z1 installed in my 2003 Explorer....see my story here: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1227 Also asked about how they would install it in my 2006 Avalon that already has the factory navigation system, and they still said they could do it.... but, like I said, you'll be losing some stuff if you replace that screen that comes with the Avalon....that screen location is the same screen location that comes in all Avalon's, whether you have the factory
 6.
this is the answer I got from Pioneer: use this link to see if it fits your car... http://www.crutchfield.com/S-8ArU2JBHad ... l5TjnxxvDi
Yeah, but most of the times you can custom fit and make a dash and put it in the car, so those aren't always accurate. Did you hear anything else from the pro shop?
 7. Hey ski, according to someone on this forum it can be installed (the avic z1 that is) on the toyota avalon 06. My post is #11 on this site http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX?14@@.f0df71a/0 A author said they have to use a different interface something like that, it's on the forum, I hope it can be done, because I was about to get the avalon 06 this fall. Thanks again, God Bless.
 8.
I guess I should issue the disclaimer to my previous post that this definitely needs to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. On most cars going with something like the Z1, which is an all-in-one solution is the best way to go. But on today's newer cars, were the stereo is integrated into not only the dash, but also the HVAC controls, steering wheel, Dash, etc., in most cases you end up with less functionality by going with an aftermarket system. This is certainly true on today's newest Japanese autos, and if you have a chance to spend some time in one that is
 9.
Purchasing an Install Card won't allow anyone to install the Z1 in your car. You can buy a plane ticket online, but if the carrier doesn't fly where you want to go that doesn't do you any good. In a car like your Avalon (and an increasing number of other cars), because of the integration of the stereo into other systems in the vehicle, retro-fitting the OEM option is really your best bet if you just want to take advantage of the features the Z1 offers. In almost every case these features are now available in the OEM solution, and the finished package looks and works
 10.
Install the OEM nav piece, it will cost you about the same, but the integration will be 10 times better in a car like your Avalon.
I'm sorry I don't know what you mean by that I'm new to all of this. Really I was thinking of getting this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3x2NAkJVkT ... =597421000 which is the Prepaid professional in-dash receiver installation crutchfield offers, so, should they be able to install the z1 even with all that was said on this post? Also is the Prep
 11.
Am going to buy this for the wife . . . . anyone know and ETA of when this will be available?
Check crutchfield its out now.
 12.
As far as I know you can't remove factory stereo from avalone. If you do so you will lose all info on factory LCD.
Really!? So there's no way to install it now then?
 13.
no kit yet for double din for that vehicloe. the only kit my new book has in it is metra 99-8215 for a single din radio 05-06 avalon. I'm sure it will be coming out for a double din though. Keith
Okay but a shop should be able to make a custom kit and put it in there right? Thanks and God Bless
 14. Anyone install a avic z1 in a toyota avalon 06? The dash looks strange to put a aftermarket system in, I'm getting the z1 or z2 if its out probably next year or this december but wanted to know if it fits in the avalon 06. Thats a picture of the interior, I hope it can fit in there, if I decide to get the avic z1.
 15.
this is lsutiger694... everything went fine but make sure you get your install shop to hook up the Green/black (green wire/black stripe) of the vehicle harness to the blue ant power wire from the pioneer harness. If they dont do it you will be without AM and have weak FM. Which dash kit did you go with... I purchased a 1 piece kit from korea that was made for navigation in these vehicles.
Hey you got any pictures?
 16.
Thanks for the reply, it did it again today for 2 hrs, getting pissed off now, any advice on what I should do?
Try calling pioneer, don't know why no one calls them first :)
 17.
I had the 7015 (predecessor to the 717 and 6019) with the 4100 nav piece in a previous car. It was a very nice setup, but I honestly don't think it can touch the Z1 in terms of flexibility. The nicest thing about the Kenwood nav is that it is the first aftermaket integrated nav system to announce support for ClearMedia's TMC based traffic info (a free traffic announcement system that Europe has had for a decade). The Z1 has a much better design though, both in terms of UI and the look of the actual unit, it's more square compared to the Kenwood systems. If all yo
 18.
I must say I have been a victim of this also. My camera is acting up also. It goes in and out. What is up with this camera?
You guys tried e-mailing pioneer or calling them about this? I found them to have very good customer service and fast when responding to e-mails.
 19. . Don't know but I bet it looks nice in that vehicle.
 20.

All in all, The Z1 is one unit and does alot of features, the Alpine does al the features of the Z1 plus, Zagat guide
So what? Why is this important?
3D landmark images
Z1 has this feature in major metro areas
remote control
Also available for the Z1 for $20
with gps and media controls.
I have 5 of those on the end of each of my hands, as the Z1 is a touch screen unit. I think the Z1 is an excellent unit, compact, easy to use, & packed f
 21. Hmmm, what did this alpine unit come out? I've also been looking at other units to compare with the z1, and so far I've found this http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/20 ... price.html But the Z1 is a competitive unit.
 22.
For those that found errors of the map or POI, would you send the description of the issue to TeleAtlas? Pioneer does not have a specific support page for navigation issue but TeleAtlas does. Keep in mind TeleAtlas probalby would not help routing issue but they might correct map or POI errors. The only time a correction is made to the map or POI is when people report it. http://www.teleatlas.com/Pub/Home
Did yall e-mail teleatlas and what did they say?
 23.
Can anybody answer my questions please? THANKS GUYS, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
Do a search I believe this has been talked about already. Thanks and God Bless.
 24.
I've had mine for about 1.5 months, and I've had no problems at all with mine. The rerouting is very fast, when I chose to take a route other than the one selected. It will tell me to u-turn about 20 times, but it eventually figures out that I'm not going to, and concedes. I'm really happy with the Nav portion of the unit, and especially the split-screen 3D/2D. It really helps in a busy intersection.
Oh yeah I see your in jacksonville, good to see it works good in FLorida. I'm in Tallahassee, have you tried it in any other places in FL?
 25.
The routing works great for me. I've only had the unit for a few days though. To see how good it is I've been setting destinations every where I go and then doing stuff like taking different routes to see how well it deals with re-routing and it's been doing a great job. The only time it's been off was when I drove right next to a major road it told me to take (but didn't). Once the major road veard off it figured out what road I was really on and rerouted me using the side street so it actually did a great job again.
Oh thats great. Maybe it's just cer
