Getting to the back of the unit is a problem.

It's a nice car, and I don't wanna start tearing things out of the dash that I might not be able to get back in

I have a z110bt, with 2012 maps and firmware.

I do not have the ND-TMC10 tuner.  (Well, I have it - but it is not installed).

How does my AVIC calculate route conditions, when it has no traffic tuner input?

 

I bought one.   New, $75, shipped from Portugal, on ebay.

Now let's see if I can install the thing without ripping out my dashboard ...

Obviously, it can do that only if you've set and are following route. I do that only when I am unfamiliar with the area - probably less than 5% of the total miles I drive annually.

When it's first figuring a route, it says "Calculating route conditions", as if it has real-time traffic info already - but when I choose the option to show traffic, it says there is no provider selected, so I assume that it has no traffic sensor.

But of what use is it?    Will it automatically reroute me, based on live traffic?

I have a Z110bt that has the 2012 maps/firmware update, which I am told updates my NAVI to a 940.

I live in SoCal, and traffic is of course a concern of mine.

Is the ND-TMC10 traffic sensor a worthwhile addition?    What, exactly, will it do for me?   Will my NAVI automatically route me via the fastest route?

What is involved in the installation of this tuner?

How much is a reasonable charge I should expect to pay, if I buy it and choose to have someone else do it?

 

Why doesn't someone with competence and time to kill code the process onto an SD card to sell on ebay?

The nag screen isn't much of an annoyance - not enough to prompt me to follow the instructions and turn the danged thing off myself, but it IS enough annoyance that I'd pay thirty bucks for an SD card I could plug in and let the AVIC update itself ...

I have a Z110BT without a Traffic mod.    I live in SoCal, so traffic is important to me.

How will the TMC-10 make my 110 work better?   (It's updated with the 2012 firmware, so I guess it's like a 940 now - whatever that means).

If I get the TMC and have it installed - will it integrate with the NAVI to change the suggested route, based on traffic ahead?    Or does it only show traffic when I go to the traffic screen?    

If the latter, I can get live traffic on my iPhone and iPad, using Google or Bing Maps - no need to spend the money on the TMC for that.   If, however, the NAVI will integrate traffic onto the map and route around the trouble zones, then it's WELL worth whatever it costs.

Does anybody have a TMC10 and know the answer to this question?

Anybody got a good idea when the new maps will come out for the Z110BT?   (I've updated to the 2012 version, so I'm not sure what to call it ...)

Have they stopped making the ND-TMC10?

I'm in SoCal, with a z110bt that was installed and updated to 2011 (and parking brake bypassed) when I bought the vehicle.

I updated the firmware and maps to 2012, and the thing seems to route around traffic tie-ups somehow - it took me off the 5 and onto the 110 yesterday when the 5 was clogged and the 110 was clear. I don't know if the system has a traffic tuner installed or not, though the fact that it took me on a longer route (with less traffic) at least twice makes it look likely.

How can I tell if I have the tuner installed? On the Home|Directions screen there is a touch button for "Traffic", but I don't know that it does anything.

Has this been verified?

This is a couple years later, but my iPad2 connects to my Z110bt fine, after I updated the firmware and maps to 2012 version.

Both by Bluetooth and via the cable.

I got it connected. I don't remember the exact steps I took, but it has to do with the Bluetooth Settings.

When I tried connecting to the NAVI from the iPad, it failed. When I tried connecting from the AVIC, it failed a few times, saying "Follow directions on phone".

I kept trying, and when a popup came on my iPad that said "enter code", I entered the NAVI password and it connected.

Now I can stream content from my iPad through my AVIC system - with MUCH better speakers than the iPad has!

What else should I be able to do with this?

ND-TMC10 is the new traffic tuner.

Will it work with ALL the AVIC devices? Is an ND-TMC10 for an X930 the same device as the ND-TMC10 for Z110?

I did the NavTec map update to my Z130BT - worked flawlessly. Haven't given the GPS a real test for routing but maps show a lot more current POI's The now lack of voice for the GPS is a little annoying, I did use it a couple of times before, but it was also buggy which was annoying too.

I updated.

First time I tried using the (2012) maps, last night, I plugged in an address that's fairly remote and quite rural.

The AVIC directions got me within a mile or two of my chosen destination; my iPhone iOS6 maps got me to the proper place.

Has it been confirmed in practice?

It's not in the App Store yet, because it's not iPS compatible.

Seeing as the PC version of the program doesn't work with 64-bit (only 32-bit) Windows, I'm not holding my breath waiting for them to release an iOS6-compliant app.

Not sure there's any (or at least not enough) benefit from updating.

Certainly don't want to take the chance on bricking my AVIC.

I just bought a car with the Z110BT installed. I ordered a 2012 maps update that I'm told will come on 2 SD chips. (Maps and Firmware?) I don't know).

My Z110 has a copyright splash screen saying © 1984-2011, which I'm told means it was updated to 2011 maps last year.

I'm in OC and the Z110 is back in KY, so I can't test anything out for a couple more weeks, but what are the advantages and the disadvantages of applying the 2012 updates? (I'm told the update will make my 110 the same as a 140 - but if that breaks voice navigation, it's not worth the trouble, let alone the expense).
