1. Every night when I drive home heading north on the 57, just before I pass Angel stadium on my left. The NAV changes from 57N to 14S on the screen. When I pass the Pond 1/4 mile later, the NAV then turns back to 57N. Weird huh?

Does any of you guys who travel on 57N confirm this. It always happen just before Angel stadium. Please let me know if you guys can replicate the problem..or maybe my NAV is crazy.
2. Those with Verizon Razr V3c, go here for info on hacking your firmware to Alltel to fully enable Bluetooth OBEX and OPP. Hopefully after flashing will help with the phonebook transfers to the AVIC-Z1. I have flashed my Razr, works get-I'll never go back to Verizon's stupid UI. Now just waiting for Pioneer to ship the damn Bluetooth adapter!

Warning: Follow the instructions explicitly, otherwise you can do major damage to your phone.

3. There is a firmware hack for Verizon Razor V3c to fully enable Bluetooth (OBEX,OPP). This may help with the phonebook transfer. I think there is also a similiar hack for E815, search Howardforums.com

Warning: Hacking your firmware will void the warranty and there is a slight chance your phone will be useless if you don't follow the directions explicitly.

4. I have the CD-IB100II, althought I don't use it very much. I'd rather copy my music onto the HDD, faster and easier to select songs IMO. There is a slight delay in browsing songs via the iPod adapter.

I'm not sure what's your question. Could you rephrase it so next time I'm using the iPod, I'll let you know. :?:
5. Guys, the bypass will temporarily work even if you DONT flash the lights. I got into my car this morning, start it up WITHOUT flashing the lights, and to my surprise the DVD still play and all NAV functions was unlocked. But after about 15 minutes of driving, the dreaded warning came back and the video went away.

I watched Office Space on the drive into work, laughed my ass off :D
6.

My timing must suck, I still cant get it to work...
when you start the car the lights illuminate on the z1....do nothing.
when the z1 sarts its boot sequence it will look something like this

21314efdsfe35453
1321453254554435
134343525545345

thats when you turn on and off the headlights.....

next it will display the pioneer logo.... you can still turn on and off your lights during this time.

i usualy get 1 on and off during the boot sequence and 2 durning the pioneer logo and i do all my flashes within about 2 seconds total, so far its worked evey time....... in other words turn on and off your headlights as fast as you can and it will work..
You guys get a bunch of number on boot-up? I don't, mine just said "Starting up...."
7. You guys that are not getting this bypass to work:

1. Are you turning the light on and then off at the startup?

2.. Or are you guys flashing the hi-beam?

The first method is what you want to do. At first I thought pulsing mean flashing the hi-beam-which is incorrect. Also check that your illuminimation wire is hook up correctly.
8. I don't really think you need to hack the Z1 to update it. If Pioneer is nice, they'll let you download an update, burn it to CD-R, and update the Z1. They already confirm that they'll update the GraceNote CDDB this way in the future.

Hey, I notice you and another guy (both with Porsche) are having the same speedo issue. Perhaps your car is not compatible with the Z1? Hence you're having horrible routing results. Have you contact Pioneer to see if this is the case?

I know some members on BMW forum had to do major dashboard cutting just to fit the Z1.
9.
I have a question that has not been asked yet.. Has anyone who is not a guest or a sudden member got this to worK?????? I am starting to think maybe this is a big joke. I could be wrong but it seems like everyone who got this to work was not around a couple of weeks ago when everyone was looking for a bypass... just keep this in mind while racking you brain why it does not work for you.. Or who knows maybe pioneer let this little Joke out.. :P
Funny, I thought of the same thing. I've been looking for the hack since I bought my Z1 back on March 24th. A few members from other forums I lurked at confirmed that they found a hack weeks ago, but none were willing to share or if they did share, moderators from those forums quickly deleted the info. On a side note, did anyone notice many threads from other forums are being deleted about the hack. This is the only forum so far that still shows instruction how to do it.

My guess is that Pioneer built-in the hack to minimize "complaints" that could potentially lead to lawsuits for disabling features. They waited awhile after the initial release to see people respond to the crippled features. Apparently, someone from Pioneer finally leaked the info.

It's not JOKE, it does work. Many people have confirmed this. I'm hoping no permanent damage will result from this hack.
10.
So can you be moving and the DVD picture does not go away? Mine goes away, and leaves the audio, at precisely 20 km/h
Did you pulse your headlight at least ONCE at the Z1 startup screen? If you don't do it fast enough, you may have to redo it.

1. Insert key into ingition.
2. Start the car.
3. Wait to see "Start up..." on AVIC-Z1
4. Pulse your light Once (turn headlight on and then off)

That should do it. If not, then maybe you don't have your illumination wire connect properly. :?: Read the entire thread, lots of good info posted.

okay, extensive experimentation...

green wire grounded (no connection to e-brake)
:start car and at "starting pioneer navigation screen" flicker your lights
:you have to hit "okay" to confirm connection is legal
:you also have to hit "okay" to confirm the e-brake isn't properly connected
:the dvd will then play regardless of the position of the e-brake
:you can switch in between navi, dvd, am/fm, and library

green wire properly connected to e-brake
:e-brake must be off
:start car and at "starting pioneer navigation screen" flicker your lights
:you have to hit "okay" to confirm connection is legal
:the dvd will not play if e-brake is engaged and then released (must restart car and redo the whole process in order to get dvd w/o e-brake on)
:you can switch in between navi, dvd, am/fm, and library

note: when i say "flicker", it means the first initial screen will show a message at the very top stating the pioneer navigation is initializing and at that very moment you turn your lights on and off. the good thing with this is they can even be your parking lights so it's not as obvious that you're screwing around. if you do it at that very moment (since this screen is on for only a second or so), you only need to flicker your lights once. if you miss that screen i would just recommend restarting from the beginning, but i also had luck flickering my lights about 5 more times during the loadup screen following the initialization screen when i intentionally missed the first queue.

to me, the best way to do it is the grounded way, because then it doesn't matter how you start the car or if you have to use your e-brake for some reason, but there is an extra "okay" screen you have to touch because it knows that it's not connected properly

this is pretty much directed toward gaspar, but i'm sure it's informative to anyone else interested in the Z1.
12. Kudos to whoever found the bypass trick...and thanks for sharing! Some pricks on the other forums found the bypass weeks ago, but did not share. Does not sharing makes them feel superior?

Anyways, mine WORKS great now, everything is unlocked. Never thought the bypass would be so simple. Wonder why Pioneer would built-in such a hack, or is it an unintentional flaw that they will soon "patch"?

Regardless, the AVIC-Z1 will be selling like hotcakes now that the bypass is leaked.

And JasonH thanks for creating this great forum. Best site on the web for AVIC info period.
